I love this but I still think the Moby's is better. The problem is that Goldenthal's score makes it too dramatic; the focus of the scene shouldn't be that Dinero's dead and the drama in that, but on the final interaction between Dinero and Pachino. "Told you I'm never going back..." "Yea..." This scene is not only about acceptance and forgiveness, but that these two are the only people who understand each other; that Pachino just killed the only man who understands him.
I disagree. This has a much more epic sound to it. Like watching a Greek tradgedy unfold before your eyes. To me, nothing beats an epic sounding soundtrack to a great movie with death in the end...I know it is not for everyone, but it is for me...
You've used the funeral music from Michael Collins. While it's the same theme, it is not the exact same composition - that's why it does not fit the visuals at all.
Godenthal wrote the "theme" for HEAT and had to adapt it to fit Michael Collins.
The actual piece that Goldenthal wrote for Heat is available.
@FortuneKing24 the ending song wasn't composed. It was a piece by Moby called God Moving Over the Face of the Waters taken from his Greatest hits album because it had a more cinematic build to it
this music did not go to waste, it was used in Michael Collins (in which Goldenthal received an Oscar nom for)
