Well technically its not a trap, or a "he's really a big fat guy" its a Djinn. their true form is "black smokeless fire", basically they have no real shape and assume a form that is pleasing to their "master" or to those they meet. Kind of like Faeries (nature spirits) they change shape depending on occupation or living location from cute girls to headless men with spine whips.
