listen, at end of game, miami easily could have scored but shula had class... he punched it to the 1 yard line..... but shula wanted to teach tom a lesson... by showing mercy, yet by saying 'hey tom, we, are in control.....'
Yes, you don't see that happen to Lilly often, but not surprising when you consider who is doing the blocking. Later that year they did the same ,and even more, to Alan Page........the O-lineman is Bob Kucnhenberg
Toward the twilight of his career and no longer running 9.1 but still at least a 9.2 Bullet Bob Hayes misses a sure td by 2 yards, the Cowboys would lose to the Superbowl Champ Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving Day 1973.
@Runner688 That was a pile up of three bodies and Lilly still got a piece of the runner after sliding far to his left. No one ever put Lilly on his back.
this was the revenge game for the dolphins against dallas since they lost the superbowl to the cowboys a few years earlier.beating the cowboys on thanksgiveing day at dallas was sweet revenge.
@dolfangirl1 Don't forget that DB #26 Lloyd Mumford almost had a heart attack when Bullet BoB Hayes flew by him, Mumford thanked his lucky stars that the ball was just out of the reach of the former world's fastest human that would have been a big momentum swing for Dallas had they scored right then, no question., Hayes had a history of doing well particulary on Thanksgiving Day.
@Runner688 So,this could have been a close & exciting Super Bowl two months later. Chuck Foreman messed this potential Super Bowl up the way Foreman kept the Rams out of Super Bowl in 1974 & 1976 & screwed up those potentially exciting Super Bowls(by putting the inferior aging team in there). In 1980s, John Elway ruined all those Super Bowls by keeping the muscular Cleveland Browns out.In early 1990s,Houston Oilers kept themselves out & they were too talented to be blown out in any SB
Dolphins back then could win both kinds of games; an offensive shootout, and a defensive slugfest, much like the Steelers, a year later. That's very rare
LMAO, this "music" just makes me want to puke!
