Fifa 11 is too hard to be fun, even for the best of us. It is less like being difficult overall and more like being impossible to score anything innovative, due to dodgy passing systems (like when you pass and because another player is in that area it chooses him, regardless of the power used), ridiculous pressure (full pressure at all areas of the pitch for 90 minutes, unrealistically high stamina for A.I opposition). It all comes down to crosses, or one two's in front of the defence. Yawn.
Play full manual, it's what I do for realism. Can't make myself play with assisted or semi-assisted settings. Been playing full-manual settings for about a year now.
Games played and victories earned are far more rewarding when played in full manual. That's just my opinion from experience. Plus you can pull off wonderful crosses and exceptional through passes and shoot with any button honestly. Though using cross or lob button to do a Chip Shot is cheap. :P
If you turn off all the passing, crossing, through ball, shooting and power control on wireless control settings to manual instead of assisted, you have complete control. Thumbs up so people can see.

Pro passing hasn't brought anything good to FIFA. Now instead of passing, people abuse the long pass. I'm all for realistic graphics but not realistic gameplay.
If your passing is set to ASSISTED then the CPU does all the work for you and negates the Pro Passing. To feel the REAL effects try it on Semi-Assisted or even Manual. These options weaken the CPU influence varying degrees and really open up your game to some challenge.

fifa 11 is still very unrealistic. there is still some ping pong passing but of course less than fifa 10. u can score most goals when facing diagonal to goal. a lot of time if u are facing forward against the gk and shoot second post u can miss.
Obviously some geeks with no job or life have to much time on their hands, maybe you have the time to spend hours mastering even harder pro passing, but the rest of us have jobs and real friends not just the online kind

I have to agree with darthvladi - it looks like you're using top tier clubs in this video. I'm playing as Corinthians in the Liga do Brasil, and I can't really get away with those passes. IRL, Barça *does* accomplish a lot with fast ground passing. Not every team can do that, of course, which is why the top-tier teams should be top-tier. Ergo, it shouldn't be surprising if a 4.5-5 star team in FIFA11 can make some pretty tough passes.

They can't make it perfect that quickly.

0:46 the reason the pass is really hard is because it is going to the next farthest player, plus, half power trying to go to the next farthest player probably isn't much, because he probably could kick a lot harder pass. ive been playin fifa 11 now for a while today, i always go celtic, and its frickin impossible, every pass i make, goes straight to the opposition, and my players constantly fall over. its so frustrating. im always havin to hold the sprint button down, coz their players are shit, but holdin sprint seems to badly impact the ability for the players to control the ball or pass, i nearly threw the controller through the telly after yet another defeat, 12 games, 1 win, 2, goals
if you dont like the passing and want a more realistic experience then go get a ball and some friends so u guys can pass the ball to each other, thats as realistic as you can get.
Just look at this video (watch?v=bL3X2S1PvFg) at second 0:09, Its the SAME sample you show here at the second 0:50 (even harder in PES vid). Can you see the diference? In PES the ball leave lika misil from the boots of the player and look at the bar.
At least in you example the ball goes by bouncing and slower, instead fast, precise and a smooth and clean projection.

Stuff like this is going to happen and has in real life especially with the best teams. The game is trying to create an illusion of a team and in real life a team has skills and a game plan. So seemly awkward passes can and has worked before because players click n have chemistry but bc you can't yell to your digital players at every move, the computer has to set up runs and anticipation for you. so when you do an awkward pass it works out because your players should 'know' already expect it.
About the awkward angle passing. Think about it is a video game not real life. So to force most player to play like they do in real life is pointless. Player like xavi have things like team chemistry and skills so all these unrealistic angles you mention are possible. Ever seen ze roberto score from 5 degrees from a defended goal. Dani Alves and inesta pass around pressuring defensers with ease. Or maicon ping ponging from his half to score. Things like these should be possible with the best.
I don't see anything wrong with this video. Your complaint about under-weighted passes are without bases. If you think about those pass succeed because of momentum. And if you look carefully the ball is only true and on the ground when you give the right weight. Otherwise the ball still makes travels but bounces and is less predictable. why should this be? because no player will ever pass so that it stops right at another feet. Think about it the ball has to first speed up then down.
I think you just want everyone to play on manual. If you don't like guys playing on assist then set your filters. I like football but that doesn't mean I want to be a master at the game and know every angle and weight of every pass, to enjoy it. Some of us are casual gamer who want to pull xavi like pass without a sweat, or pull perfect chip through passes like lampard to anelka. so why try to force us to play the way you want us to? We paid for the right to play this game too.

What assistance you on? If this is manual I'd say yeah, this shouldn't happen, but if it's assisted then it's fairly reasonable, especially with some of the best passers around.
Frankly I'd personally leave any analysis till we have the gold edition in our hands and can test it with teams outside the top demographic. Frankly I see you did not use Leverkusen, the weakest team in the demo.

- These are some of the best players in the world. Maybe not the same with lower ranked teams.
- What's the assisted / manual settings here?
- What's the difficulty? If it is reasonably low maybe the Ai isn't the same as legendary where the Ai might be getting those passes
Saying that, if these things are all on highest (i doubt for a test subject/tour etc) Then it doesn't look too different. Although WC>10 so think this will step up again
I agree, it's too easy and to often to make perfect passes. Some people argue that it is the best proffesional players/teams who can make these passes perfectly. But the main difference is that the professional players are not playing themselves, WE are playing THEM, we are not proffesional, we are just the USER. There got to be a difference between how good of accuracy MY pass will be compared to the other user (my opponent online).

If you try a looped ball over the defence or a slide rule pass through the centre, if you dont have an eye for it or the skill needed it wont work, that's the difference between good passing and bad passing at the moment. Good defending is also a factor in the success of a pass. With short passing, come on, 90% of good pros can keep their short passes right without even thinking about it, they do so many possession drills

@TiedLaces I'll take that on face value, but Pro Evo is, and always has been, a much easier game to play. Most Pro Evo players I know say that they cant be bothered with Fifa, Pro Evo is more fun etc. and that Fifa is harder to get to grips with. So if Fifa increases the passing difficulty to a point that requires a certain skill level or previous experience, more gamers will make the switch to Pro Evo, in my opinion.

The AI players are like, the player control method is poor, when you change to a man he has a little epilieptic fit before you can control him, the passing is terrible, the only thing that's any good about FIFA is having the real names,more teams, decent commentary, and shooting. fifa 11 is still very unrealistic. there is still some ping pong passing but of course less than fifa 10. u can score most goals when facing diagonal to goal. a lot of time if u are facing forward against the gk and shoot second post u can miss.

1. passing is shit , as u have to be milimeter perfect with every pass
2. the ball moves way too slow , a player from 20 meters away can easily intercept a normal pass
3.the L1(player select) for ps3 always chooses the most inconvinient players at important times e.g defending counter attacks
4.when theres a dead ball the player who is not under ur control does absoloutly nothing until u select him the ball will roll past him.

I have to agree with darthvladi - it looks like you're using top tier clubs in this video. I'm playing as Corinthians in the Liga do Brasil, and I can't really get away with those passes. IRL, Barça *does* accomplish a lot with fast ground passing. Not every team can do that, of course, which is why the top-tier teams should be top-tier. Ergo, it shouldn't be surprising if a 4.5-5 star team in FIFA11 can make some pretty tough passes.

I try to get my passes at good angles and try to make the way I play look realistic, but I don't really care if some of the passes are unrealistic (because I don't make those sort of passes often anyway). No offence, but it's pretty ludicrous that you think EA will listen to this. They have done very well to improve on the Fifa 10 passing system anyway. What do you expect? They can't make it perfect that quickly.

ive been playin fifa 11 now for a while today, i always go celtic, and its frickin impossible, every pass i make, goes straight to the opposition, and my players constantly fall over. its so frustrating. im always havin to hold the sprint button down, coz their players are shit, but holdin sprint seems to badly impact the ability for the players to control the ball or pass, i nearly threw the controller through the telly after yet another defeat, 12 games, 1 win, 2, goals

Just look at this video (watch?v=bL3X2S1PvFg) at second 0:09, Its the SAME sample you show here at the second 0:50 (even harder in PES vid). Can you see the diference? In PES the ball leave lika misil from the boots of the player and look at the bar.
At least in you example the ball goes by bouncing and slower, instead fast, precise and a smooth and clean projection.

Pick a Mexican, Russian or Usa club and see if you can do it and have perfect passes.
Even for me in real life these passes are kinda easy to do. I really cant understand why this should be changed.

Additionally, if you really want an exactly simulation of real life, then most of the games would be 0 - 0 and with only 1 or 2 chances to score.
I think this is the exactly point in which you can play something "real" but spectacular at the same time...

@TiedLaces Actually they are... most of the barcelona players have excellent passing skills, with the exception of maybe puyol.... pique was at that world famous academy with fabregas iniesta etc.... he's shown time and time again his ability and range in passing coupled with excellent vision. Even though he is a world class defender, he has the mind of an attacker too (shown by his great finishing skills against inter) although he is a cheat (CHELSEA MATCH HANDBALL)

Stuff like this is going to happen and has in real life especially with the best teams. The game is trying to create an illusion of a team and in real life a team has skills and a game plan. So seemly awkward passes can and has worked before because players click n have chemistry but bc you can't yell to your digital players at every move, the computer has to set up runs and anticipation for you. so when you do an awkward pass it works out because your players should 'know' already expect it.

About the awkward angle passing. Think about it is a video game not real life. So to force most player to play like they do in real life is pointless. Player like xavi have things like team chemistry and skills so all these unrealistic angles you mention are possible. Ever seen ze roberto score from 5 degrees from a defended goal. Dani Alves and inesta pass around pressuring defensers with ease. Or maicon ping ponging from his half to score. Things like these should be possible with the best.

I don't see anything wrong with this video. Your complaint about under-weighted passes are without bases. If you think about those pass succeed because of momentum. And if you look carefully the ball is only true and on the ground when you give the right weight. Otherwise the ball still makes travels but bounces and is less predictable. why should this be? because no player will ever pass so that it stops right at another feet. Think about it the ball has to first speed up then down.

What assistance you on? If this is manual I'd say yeah, this shouldn't happen, but if it's assisted then it's fairly reasonable, especially with some of the best passers around.
Frankly I'd personally leave any analysis till we have the gold edition in our hands and can test it with teams outside the top demographic. Frankly I see you did not use Leverkusen, the weakest team in the demo.

Fair points and not being a fanboy but a few points:
- These are some of the best players in the world. Maybe not the same with lower ranked teams.
- What's the assisted / manual settings here?
- What's the difficulty? If it is reasonably low maybe the Ai isn't the same as legendary where the Ai might be getting those passes
Saying that, if these things are all on highest (i doubt for a test subject/tour etc) Then it doesn't look too different. Although WC>10 so think this will step up again

I agree, it's too easy and to often to make perfect passes. Some people argue that it is the best proffesional players/teams who can make these passes perfectly. But the main difference is that the professional players are not playing themselves, WE are playing THEM, we are not proffesional, we are just the USER. There got to be a difference between how good of accuracy MY pass will be compared to the other user (my opponent online).

If you try a looped ball over the defence or a slide rule pass through the centre, if you dont have an eye for it or the skill needed it wont work, that's the difference between good passing and bad passing at the moment. Good defending is also a factor in the success of a pass. With short passing, come on, 90% of good pros can keep their short passes right without even thinking about it, they do so many possession drills

I didn't play in the videos or pick the teams, what I can achieve is therefore limited at this stage - but the vast majority of people seem to be on my side of this debate - so I'll lose no sleep.
Incidentally - I've played the game - I know it's wrong. I've done my best to convince people - and generally I've been very successful.

@TiedLaces Dont get me wrong, if I play it and agree with what you've raised then I'll be keen to sign a petition to campaign towards making it more authentic, but right now this isnt a compelling argument, and I'm sorry but I just cant take your word on it.Even if you get an overwhelming number of signatures, I'd wager it will be Fifa 12 before anything different is added, after all it's only 2 weeks before the shipping date, the copies of Fifa 11 will be in transit to most countries by now

@TiedLaces What I'd hate to see is more casual gamers playing Pro Evo because Fifa alienates them with a steep learning curve.For those of us who play it excessively we still need casual gamers to enjoy the experience or the quality will nosedive like in previous years of Fifa.It still needs to have a pick-up-and-play element and a natural feel to it that doesnt frustrate less committed gamers.At some stage, with the development of online players skill levels, they may create an online-only Fifa

@Rodgerinho Except that Pro Evo has always got this part of the game right. Pro Evo's passing system this year is immensely harder than FIFA 11s.

@TiedLaces I'll take that on face value, but Pro Evo is, and always has been, a much easier game to play. Most Pro Evo players I know say that they cant be bothered with Fifa, Pro Evo is more fun etc. and that Fifa is harder to get to grips with. So if Fifa increases the passing difficulty to a point that requires a certain skill level or previous experience, more gamers will make the switch to Pro Evo, in my opinion.
