@Jonathanizer With question 1...it says 'on my way to st ives' so you are going to st ives and you count as '1' it says you met other people and so on but yeah, you're right it never said any of those people are going to st ives...but since you are the answer is 1.

As for question 2...hmmm, i see your point but i think you're thinking a little to far ahead. Plus, just because they're englishmen doesn't mean they have to be buried in England, could be a death wish to be buried somewhere else...

But the riddle doesn't ask for the number of persons, it asks for the number of "kit, cat, sack and wife", and since we don't if that person is a wife, or if other cats or wifes are on their way to St.Ives, the answer is still zero, as far as we can know from the riddle.

The man he met told him about his wives so that is how he knows about all the kits cats sacks and wives, but the guy with the wives wasn't going anywhere, just the guy who met the man with the wives. All the information in the middle of the riddle is irrelevant. Only the beginning and the end. The answer is one, just the guy.
