I live in Canon City too and this video is the tip of the iceberg. It might even be too late. Cotter re-opened to process uranium for making plutonium. Part of the water up behind 1st street is nuclear and I swam in it. Haven't felt the same since.
Oh, nooooOOOOoooo!!!, it's another anti-nuke filck. You can always tell. It starts up with flute, or windchime, music, always in a minor key, features lots of pictures of children, and it's always thoroughly depressing.
Help Stop Anti-Nuke Music!!!
Here in the Anti-Nuke-Depressing-Music-Coalition, we fight against depressing music. Join us!
@daveeyes Don't be a bumbling fool. 2 of my very close loved ones died of cancer caused by the nuclear river and minerals out here. This is no joke man. Wait til they move it in your backyard.

Dear grabrone (and all the other uneducated people like amourdutigre who i think we all agree is a real dumbass):
Isn't the point of this video of what the negative effects will be if uranium mining starts up in Canon? I am shocked at the people who are completely naive to the huge risks involved in this process. Not only is it going to effect Canon City, but everyone else downstream as well. Hello Pueblo. Not to mention, aren't those mountains pretty to look at? Ever see a strip mine?
I cannot stand the screaming greenie eco-stupids. They bitch about coal power, nuclear power, wind turbines (they kill birds supposidly), solar arrays, etc ad nasium. What they really want to do is lower the standard of living of the industrialized world, and transfer the wealth to the non-industrialized nations. In reality, they are a bunch of damned tree hugging commies. Green is the new red!
Instead of screaming and yelling (which never works) have a Geiger Counter and walk the City and around. I guarantee you will be shocked how clean it is. Except the very close proximity (3-5') to the ore itself and the mill machinery, the counter will keep silence. But why would you go there?
there has been uranium mining in canon city and all of colorado for years, we are in like the top 5 producers of uranium in the country. I lived literaly next to the uranium plant for 6 years and there was no problem. look up the street...eagle drive, canon city, colorado... look it up on google maps
My Dad was a Uranium Geologist for Juniper Mining in Canon City. Strangely enough, he used to store samples of pitch blend at home in the 50's. This was even after sci-fi movies came out about strange consequences of uranium exposure.
I had one sister die at 45 of breast cancer. Another sister nearly died of breast cancer at 45. Another sister died this year from stomach cancer. I feel like I have a time bomb in me.
Your father's ignorance to the radiation is not a trait of conventional mining techniques. There is nothing fictional about consequences of radiation poisoning.
Hey buddy, let me break you the news: EVERYBODY gets fucking cancer. It's not fucking rare anymore. Think your goddamn family's special? Fuck you! I wish my family could be as lucky as yours and get some cancer. Unfortunately, we're unlucky enough to never have anyone withing our family tree ever get cancer. I guess some of us have all the luck in life huh?
With a proud history in mining, Canon City residents should welcome any industry oportunities available. A boost in the economy will only create job opportunities for your unemployed and impoverished. Fear is the tool used through this video. Hitler used fear as a tool. So did Satin (400 thread count).
Here is what you need to decide: Would you like your local economy to boom? Would you like your schools well funded? Would you like your otherwise lost youth to go without jobs?
what in the video is fear?Uranium mining contaminates the water table, it destroys the land, the hauling trucks will have to go right through town if Cotter Mill is reopened,Cotter is still leaking contamination onto the golf course next door, realtors are already losing sales just on the speculation of Cotter reopening and the possibility of mining beginning.Would you like to live in a cancer rich area?Would you like dumptrucks hauling uranium driving by your house or ranch 24/7?
I see we forgot that recreation and tourism would be lost though. (isn't Canon's local economy pretty reliant on that? )
The jobs created like this would only be death sentences anyway.
Lastly, i'd love to know when satan became real and presented fear to population? You know who else used fear? George Bush would have been a better example. And I don't understand your analogy. Fear to control the masses is one thing, fear to improve and preserve quality of life is another. Good try though.
This scares the crap outta me My son goes to school in Lincoln Park area, I'm now relocating him!!

Canon City is a suck balls town with nothing but prisons. So who cares what they do to it. Only mexicans and fags live in Canon.
jonhlopez1983 2 years ago
yes but these "mexicans and fags" hold within the uni-bomber, terrorists among many other high security people. Your welcome
