@TheProuddaddy2009 its more historic than that shitty yankee stadium, yankee stadium just old, just because the yankees played there doesnt' mean shit, Astodome inovated and changed the dynamics of buildings and sports arenas. Giving the first indoor stadium and the first animated video , that was unseen at that time...one of the biggest turists attractions in the world. Its an American Icon and a National Landmark! aka "Eight wonder of the Word" a loy better than the "house of bade built."
BRING IT BACK! Don't care if it costs millions, don't demolish the icon of a city! it's like Houston's Empire State Building. If New York lost it's icon, it would be devastated.
@MuppetShowManiac the empire state building is privately owned and has paying customers (tenants/tourists), if it was an empty building - like the dome - it wouldn't last long. ny lost an "icon" 9/11 and wasn't devastated.

Easy solution: Instead of just one group taking over the dome, have parts of the building leased out to various groups and make it one big entertainment complex. It's been done before. The Millenium Dome in London was gutted, keeping the integrity of the structure and it became a shopping complex, Arena, and entertainment complex. The Astrodome is a beautiful, historical landmark. It can still reclaim its place as the '8th Wonder of the World'.

The Astrodome is Houston's only really distinguishable landmark, as New York has the Statue of Liberty. Hopefully they will bring it back!
