I wish Bob Dylan had stopped singing after his creative period ended, about 1965. If you think he could sing these 40's songs, you must be nuts.

I had the satisfaction of walking out of his concert at the San Francisco Masonic Auditorium in that year.

Dylan - a classic sell-out.  But so are most of us, those who are still here.

Jo Stafford, on the other hand, was a REAL talented singer, not a sell-out. Columbia and Capitol records. Took the bus to work every morning.

I wish Bob Dylan would record these songs from the 40's and the big band era and WWII. His parents listened and he listened and a huge number of people are still alive and they are listening, and their children and their grandchildren and their greatgrandchildren. It's not impossible for a rock and roll idol to record these songs. It's a sort of folk music for a massive audience.

Yesterday when I heard that she had passed away I immediately thought of the lyrics to this song which she sings to perfection! "When my life is through and the angels ask me to recall the thrill of them all, then I shall tell them I remember you".
