my inspirational track first time i heard it in (troubles house) shaftesburys london 92 i froze & went into a trance(still does it now lol)..................woooooooooooot a tune..... timeless!!!!
The 90s especially the early 90s were filled with songs to uplift the black community and send positive messages: "Optimistic", "You Will Know", "UNITY", "Self Destruction", "Addictive Love", anything from KRS-one just to name a few. These songs topped the charts and weren't limited to just the "singers". What happened?
We might only see ourselves as having no more influence than a tiny drop-in-the-ocean, but without all those tiny droplets, there wouldn't BE any ocean! WINNING TAKES EFFORT.... and effort can make all the difference in the world, both to ourselves AND humanity! This song should inspire ALL creeds/races/faiths to ditch all the wallowing-in-pity & push onwards & upwards for something better! Lets decide to put as much effort into some positive thoughts as gets used on all the negative ones!!
Y'kno, the crucial thing about being OPTIMISTIC is that it has to start with a willingness from inside ourselves! So, for all the criticisms we make of the world we are living in, shouldn't we be asking "What are WE, as individuals, actively DOING about improving things?" It's all very well whinging & whining on & on about all the injustices, but if that's ALL we do about it, nothing will improve and NO-ONE will ever "win" a darned thing!
Not only that but the islands of Niihau is still owned by the thieving Robinson Christian missionary families. About a few hundred pure Native Hawaiians are allowed to live there. Their ancestors steal the land and feel like they are doing a magnanimous dead to let the Hawaiian people live there. What arrogant! What Hubris! only white people have egos like that.
Did the people in Hurricane Katrina win, Did the victims in the tsunami win? Did the victims in Haiti win before or after the earthquake? Did the native americans win when Europeans killed them and stole their land? Did Black people win when Europeans and Arabs enslaved them? Did Queen Liliokulani win when the U.S.Govt arrested her and took Hawaii? Are black people in the innercities suffering under the povert/drugs/violence win? Under whitepeople's rule are any indigenous people winning?Come on
hate is a very strong word, especially for such a positive track. If you're not feeling it that's cool but maybe u could be a little less negative?? : )
Definitley an all time great. Never fails to lift my spirits up. And its true... When you keep a positive and optimistic outlook, good things will come. Tho you may have long nights, dawn will always come. Believe Dat!
Thats my JaMMM!!! It makes me wanna get up and dance all my cares of the day away. Just keep the Faith ..cause Joy cometh in the Morning. Beautiful and Inspirational song. Get and get started with the day type of song.

maybe because it gives a false hope that a person can make it no matter what. It is not true that we will all win.

Ain't nothin like hearin the sounds of unadulterated blackness. Our artists need to reinvent that conscious sound that makes music food for the soul.
