  • I love the video, its great to embrace what you have and not be ashamed of it. I've been wearing my hair natural for years, long before it was accepted. I think its a positive step toward self awareness and pride.

  • DOOMMMMMM!!!!!

  • Great stuff...will give it a try asap!!!

  • This month marks the anniversary of having Locs for three years; however, I have been going natural for much longer with braids. This video is awesome! I can't tell you how many women I have met that have finally decided to back to our roots. Let us all be chemical free. This was one of the best decisions I could have made in life. IJS

  • Love the vid and love my nappy/kinky/tightly curled hair. Don't have coils, but like them on others.

  • The music is from MF Doom out of Brooklyn and the music is Doomsday and Arrow Root mix...

  • Thanks for this video! I believe that wearing natural hair is a political act! Thanks for showing so many different looks!

  • ONLY TIME I CANT STAND MY HAIR IS WHEN I HAVE TO COMB IT..LOL

  • Great video. Loving the diversity of natural hair; and the music compliments the styles perfectly.

There is nothing wrong with our natural hair......the creator didn't make a mistake!!

  • What's the name of the track from 0:00-3:26?

  • Black is Beautiful Indeed!!!!

  • I love it!!

  • i can describe this video in four words: CONFIDENCE. BRAVERY. BEAUTY. STRENGTH.

  • 1:16 ha i have that book from when i was little

  • Question nappy is another negative word to suppress us and make us feel we are not beautiful. I am definitely not being defense I am tire of the words defining who we are as black people Nappy NI??er etc etc. I love being me a beautiful black woman. Dont get me wrong I love being natural

  • Lovin that beat who is that, great vid

  • no one does it like us. ;)

  • wow lady at 4:06 is so beautiful

  • im happy and a lil nappy :)

  • Hair Hair why are we creating another issue that helps keep us apart first is light skin vs dark skin Now its Hair I guess if my hair is not natural I am ashame of being an African American or I am not black enough. I really tire of this Why cant we celebrate just being women Black beautiful women that come in all assorted hues or colors. Blakhonee

  • @Blakhonee: You truly do not understand this video. I won't delete your comment because everyone has an opinion, but you sound defensive. This is about celebrating the DIVERSITY OF OUR HAIR! You have truly missed the point.

  • No it does not mean you ashamed of being black, it just means you suffer from what many of us call eurocentric defined standards of beauty that have been forced onto our children from the day they are born. You have been constantly told that what you are is not beautiful enough and what looks European is what is ideal. Instead of being defensive, understand the new lesson that you are being taught, your natural self is just beautiful as any other. Don't try to be something you are not!

  • I love tribute videos! Always makes me proud to be natural!

  • I agree get rid of the word nappy. we have KINKY coiled hair.

  • @midnitedawn: can't change it.....

  • 2:11 is so gorgeoussss

  • i like the music in this video what's the name of the beats

  • MF Doom out of Brooklyn....

  • Doomsday and Arrow Root.....

  • @Samuel115s: MF Doom

  • straight hair is not exactly a white girl look because every other race has straight hair. black people are just the only race that dont have straight hair for the majority .actual Asians have even more straighter hair than white people so if any thing their trying to look Asian

  • @Samuel115s Straightening hair is trying to look Asian???? Are you seriously slow or seriously stupid? "Every other race has straight hair"..in what universe is this true? Many whites have curly or wavy hair that has to be straightened with a flat iron, especially ethnic Whites...it is also not atypical for Southeast Asians to have wavy hair, some Indians even have hair that is extremely coarse not unlike American Blacks....Not too mention that many Latinos scattered throughout Latin America and

  • @Samuel115s the Caribbean have shared African ancestry with American Blacks and have curly or tightly coiled hair....the rest typically having loosely curled or wavy hair. And let's not even get started on the vast peoples inhabiting the continent of Africa, representing virtually every color and hair type imaginable, scores of Africans whether of Arab descent or explicitly negroid have highly textured hair. Blacks are not the only people with kinky hair and choosing to straighten or not

  • @Samuel115s straighten is merely a matter of preference....not of trying to look like another race. You do not sound very intelligent...and if you really want to talk about individuals changing their appearance to look like something they are not it would behoove you to start with eye-widening surgery and skin bleaching rampant throughout Asia and American Whites who endure plastic surgery to amplify their lips, butt and everything else. Straightened hair can be taken back to it's original

  • @Samuel115s state with moisture.....whereas the extreme surgical measures to which unmelanated, straight haired individuals go to imitate ethnic features are irreversible. Go get some knowledge, please...

  • bald hair is ugly and the twist out only suits women i think

  • this limp hair Cherokke chick loves your video and is jealous of the volume and uniqueness of my black sistas out there. I long for the versatility and strength of natural balck hair. I know that in wearing a natural style you run in to more racist morons, but who cares about their ignorance? Rock those gorgeous styles ppl!

  • @mayasattva: xoxox

  • This video is wonderful for a mixture of styles, I have a similar video, its about protective styling.

  • try our herbal hair oil tropical punch organik nordaz com

  • look at this vid PLz NATURAL HAIR: NAPPY TO ME.... *read info box for links!*

  • what song is this?

  • i think this video is wonderful. It shows that black women can be naturally beautiful.

  • Loved the video! Please subscribe to me and I will do the same for you. Thanks and keep the videos coming :)

  • I loved this video. Thank you for sharing this. I've been natural since 2005 and am always looking for new ways to wear my hair without damaging it.

  • Ever since I started going to beauty salons and such, they would put a perm in it and make me look pretty but, now a days every time I look in the mirror with my straightened hair I.. don't feel me so I'm going back natural (Maybe get the BC) and go on from there :)

    -Narutofangirl103

  • My hair is natural, but I don't feel like it's fair to accuse women who wear their hair straight ashamed of their natural hair. I have my moments where I'll put a straight weave in my hair; it doesn't mean I want to be white. I love myself, I love my natural hair, and I also love change... Other than the ending...beautiful video.

  • i unno if its just me but i resent the word "nappy" i have taught all my friends, fam ect... to never call my natural hair NAPPY because its NOT nappy... its tightly coiled!!! A white girl with stringy, tangled hair should be concidered nappy... me my friend, im no nappy, i can pull a comb thru my fro... lets erase the word NAPPY! its not cool

  • @x0xqueendivax0x: You can't change the video, once it is up that's it. Now what?

  • @JahGydes i understand once its up its up... u dont have to change it, thats just an opinion of mine :)

  • @x0xqueendivax0x: I respect your opinion. My boyfriend made the same comment when I first uploaded the video. I tried to change it but...Love and Light Sis!

  • natural is beautiful

  • Wonderful Video! Please visit Natural Notts on FACEBOOK where this video will be featured today!

  • I truly enjoyed this video. It was great. Natural is BEAUTY! Continue to be natural and allow your hair to grow sistahs because it is our glory. 1 Corinthians 11:15.

  • Thanks for putting this out, give us something that we should be proud of.

  • you dont know how much i appreciate you telling the world about not callin their locks dreads. i had to learn that lesson myself. thank you

  • @mjjcng8958: You are so welcome!

  • ADVERTISING- I HAVE AN NICE HAIR CREAM THAT MAKE HAIR GROW GOOD FOR DRY SCALP & HAIR.-jahrootshairbodycream

  • anything with bandanas?

  • anything with bandanas?

  • I can't understand why a Sista would want to trade-in uniqueness for ordinary.

That is your crown. Without it, you're just like all the other women on the planet.

You can be like everyone else (if you choose), but nobody else can be like you.

We are the only people who retained the likeness of the first man and woman. Take pride in your uniqueness.

  • I love the bust at the beginning of the video

  • this was really nice to see!

good timing, since two days ago i threw out my straightener and decided to have long, healthy NATURAL hair.

  • I enjoy this video very much. I had perm on i went back 2 my natural Ive miss my nappy hair n I am glad I did.

  • great video....love it

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm white, but I have very curly hair naturally, and sometimes I get very negative comments about it. Some people say that they like me with straight hair better! (I've straightened my hair before.) It makes me so mad! Why does straight hair have to be considered professional?

I've seen some pretty nasty straight hair that isn't taken care of, but it is accepted as professional. Totally unfair.

  • @indigothecat you should look at some of the videos i have subscribed to. they have some great professional hairstyles. also i am begining doin videos for natural hair as well when i get my new camera. so please keep my channel in mind =] rate cmnt subsribe. thank you very much. hope i can help. and thank you my sista for being happy to be nappy!

    ~NtrlBlackLezboBeauty

  • i loved the video. before i watched this i was debating about going natural but now i dont care what people say thats what i want. thanks!!!!!

  • black hair is beautiful, but sadly most african americans don't recognize it because it dosen't grow long like whitepersons hair does.so they go and relax it. one thing we don't know is that when we leave it natural, comb it out properly and grease it well it will grow. i'm glad, and proud to be of african desent .BUT I LOVE MY COUNTRY BARBADOS.I LOVE MY AFROS,BUNS,CONROWS AND TWIST. AND I LOVE MY THICK LUCIOUS "NAPPY" HAIR> god bless and peace out

  • My heart stopped when I saw Qtip....and I am so very happy to be nappy!

  • where can i get this art from?

  • ITS A NAPPY HEAD WORLD!!! GIT WIT IT!!!

  • hey where did u get that painting with the little gurl n the hair dryer i love it n got to hve it

  • The guy at 1:32 was sexy...

Im happy i went natural. :)

  • Great vid! Thanks for sharing it!

  • Great video. Enjoyed all the versatility.

  • Wonderful Video. As a latina woman, I have always been jealous of the beautiful natural hair styles of African American women. As a little girl I wanted brades or a little fro like my friends. In my opinion, the natural look brings out the sexiness and confidence in such beautiful women...something that the media overlooks.

  • @zombiegirl1971 : Wow! I would have never know that latinas could be juealous of a sista...caucasian women yea, that's obvious, but a latina sista? All I can say is WOW thanks for the post zombigirl1971! 1love

  • @JahGydes Why would white women be jealous?

  • @zombiegirl1971 thanks. As a black woman, I admire the strength, beauty and passion of my latina sisters.

  • @zombiegirl1971 No need to be. Women of all races are beautiful. We all have unique features, from almond shaped eyes, olive skin, blue eyes, curly kinky hair, ebony skin. I'm gad we dont all look the same. I love diversity.

  • @zombiegirl1971

Thank you for the compliment. I feel the same way, as far as our natural bringing out the confidence and beauty, because after all when society constantly view our "natural" as disorderly, It takes confidence to go aginst the norm. Peace Luv Happiness

  • @zombiegirl1971

  • @zombiegirl1971 Thank you for the compliment. I feel the same way, it does bring out our confidence and beauty, after all it would take confidence, to wear our natural, when it is often seem as "disorderly".......so it takes alot of confidence to wear our natural against the norm. Peace Luv & Happiness:-)

  • @zombiegirl1971 LOL zombie I am Native American, and I too am jealous. I once spent $300 to get straw curls: a disaster. I love seeing sistas with natural styles, they help me accept my pencil straight, limp black hair. Now i don't color or perm it anymore and I wear my tribe's feathers or beads. Fight racism and support the natural styles of all races. God created us this way, to reject it is to reject your creator.

  • This is very wonderful- i enjoyed it to the fullest - I did the BC 5/2009 and this is so inspiring-Thank You so Much!!!

  • @s3r3nity5 : You are soooooo welcome!

  • It's a shame when you have to go to a web site such as this, Oh, and by the way you did an EXCELLENT job...... to look at photo's of what beauty really is, as I always said SELF HATRED is a B...ch and we as a people got it bad, noone wear their crown and glory anymore, BUT I do and I am HAPPY TO BE NAPPY!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know any information about the statue of the African women in the beginning of this piece. It is beautiful.

  • Excellent!

sister-girl we are beautiful women and men in are natural state of Afrikaness!!! Love it...thanks for sharing.

  • Jah dear I really appreciate this video. People that don't love and embrace themselves have shackles on their mind and are going to be the last one to recognize it. Thank you tho for giving people food for thought because one day your message may get through to them. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL> when was the last time u heard that one. I'm going to say it everyday cuz I think my people forgot

  • You have shown a wonderful presentation on hair, and I enjoyed it! It has been a pleasure looking at the different hairstyles.

  • @HunterTiger2100 : thanks for the big ups!

  • The video was outstanding as well as the music please do more.

    I am "Happy n Nappy"

  • @BELLITOL : thanks for the big ups....I am working on Priceless! Hope ya'll like it! 1love

  • Happy to be nappy is a braiding place on eight mile in detroit. I like black women with natural hair. The straight hair look is tired to me becuase it looks so flat and dead. I remember my teacher had a natural she looked so damn sexy in it...

  • @toodeep1212 : thanks for the kudos! 1love

  • I'm going natural and my choice will be dreadlocks I want to be beautiful and love it

  • it is so annoying to hear people say that having bone straight hair is a white girl look or associate it with only European beauty. Other races have straight hair as well, and thanks to globalization anyone can or can not embrace different cultures. Just because one is attracted to other styles it does not mean that he/she is ashamed. It is just a style choice goodness gracious!!

  • Excuse me most of the time that is the case so get ur facts str8

  • im mexican and i got nappy hair .. i decided to grow dreadlocks

  • mexican PPL don't have nappy hair I don't know what ur talking about what other races put in their hair doesn't be dreadlock I don't know what that be they hari don't even really lock up like ours

  • on 1:24 i esd eondering what can i do to make my hair curly like that because im tired of putting fake hair in with my real hair can you help me out?

  • @krazypat91 : Wash your hair and while it is wet, create double strand twists. Use bonner brothers mink oil gel . Add a band at the end let your hair air dry and take apart. Will last for about a week. If you are consistant and do this weekly, your hair will be "trained" and you won't have to do it as often!

  • well thank you so much and Happy Holidays

  • very encouraging thanks!

  • you are very welcome! 1love....

  • the guy at 1:46... so sexy lol

  • that's Q-tip with "tribe called quest"....

  • Nice video.

Im still trying to find out which hairstyle I would like to have.

Im a young Black male with a short afro 1-2 inches in height.

  • and the white girl comment wasn't necessary-=-= really my natural hair has brought me to loving self beauty and that doesn't mean downing anyone for being who they are because most black women have had or will have perms and we grow out of it for various reasons

  • well i like the idea but im natural not nappy that word means you need a perm and i dont need nor want aperm

  • THANK u for posting a video like this. i have recently started thinking of going natural too. this is a great inspiration for me!

  • You are so welcome sis!

  • nice vid!

  • Thanks KC!

  • 5 StArS*************

  • 1Love!

  • Thank you sistahs for your support! What do you think about the hair movie by Chris Rock?

  • nice vid

  • nice video. however, I've never been ashamed of my hair. It just hurts like H*** getting it done. I havent had a relaxer in 4 1/2 yrs now, and im trying to stop adding weaves to my hair, so im looking for natural hair styles.

  • This is a lovely video. However, I must say that black sisters who wear perms are not necessarily ashamed of who they are. I'm natural now, but I was never ashamed of my hair. My mama allowed me to get a perm in my youth because I was extremely nappy and not happy because I'm tender headed. Oh, how I cried. Now, experienced natural hair stylists are numerous, as are products, to help people like me better manage my hair. Healthy hair, I believe, is beautiful in any state, natural or not.

  • This term " tender headed" comes form not knowing the nature of Afrikan hair ;thus not knowing how to deal with it in it's natural state. One must make sure that the hair is well conditioned and moisturized and/ or braided while still damp. plyable and strong. If you do not take THE TIME study and LOVE your Natural HAIR it will not love you back ...humbly submitted.

  • Hello Molake,

I respect your wisdom, but that is not my story. Most of the women in my family, even when I was small, wore their natural hair. My mama has never put chemicals in her hair, and she has healthy natural hair. Therefore, she knew what to do with natural hair. However, my hair was not typical. No matter what she or professional stylists did to my hair, I wept. I'm much better now, but I still have tender headed tendencies, although I have studied and loved my hair for a lifetime.

  • the second picture in this slide show lol do u still have it or remember where u got it

it would make the perfect tattoo

  • This is the BOMB! I miss my natural hair...permed it and am now tryin to grow it out. Sittin here watchin it with my "bone straight" hair in shame, LOL. There is NO excuse, true!

  • Alek (the model) is beautiful.

  • My girl just went natural! :) All I did was ask about her hair and she cut off her permed hair the next week :)

  • I'm celebrating 21 years of being happy 2 B nappy! Thank you for making this video...a very positive and empowering message :)

  • Kodoes to you. I will celebrate 56 yrs of Happy Nappy me with you.

  • 1Love!

  • I am happy to be nappy!!

  • I love Alek Wek and her bald beautiful self. This vid is great. I think they should play these kinds of vid in hair salons to teach some black people a lesson. You can rock natural hair and still beautiful

  • i agree with u. my mom told mr sum ppl just dont look good with their nature hair.

  • I hate to bust your bubble in that particular pix she is not actually bald . Her hair is bone straight and slicked back. She has recently began to have her hair tortured for public ( white) consumption. Very sad :(

  • Beautiful pics, beautiful music and beautiful people...especially feeling the Tarrus Riley Pic!!

  • I think it is about time people stopped trying to be the same as each other or have the same Barbie doll look! This is a beautiful video about being unique and being what you were born as. So well done and thank you for propagating this message. If it matters to anyone, I'm white and I can't really adopt these styles but that doesn't matter. I'm glad to see other people who agree that we don't have to have poker straight hair. We all can be natural.

  • Beautifully done! What an awesome display of Black Women in all their natural hair glory! Marvelous.

  • Love the video. I'm natural for 8 years and I love it. What the Creator made can't be wrong.

  • ok, great vid, loved the locs the most, BUT i wanna know, what songs did u use for the musiq playin?

    one love

  • By the way love the vid and the music. What's the name song's? thank you

  • There is no way we should be ashamed of being natural ,we look just SOOOOO FINE !!!!!

  • @OMANI91 Absolutely!

  • I love it! Beautiful! I wore my fro picked out the other day and a white lady was coming down the street with her kid. She looked at me and did a double take. She seemed surprised. We spoke and then I went about my business. But I felt like, yes, I am teaching her something just by wearing my fro without any shame. It's like having a super power! LOL!

  • Great vid!

  • cool video!! I am def happy to be nappy thanks sis!

  • our hair is just natural, nappy is not in my vocabulary. I love this hair to everyone with natural hair:

JUST LOVE IT EMBRACE YOUR HAIR AND YOU WILL SEE IT LOVING YOU BACK PLUS MORE!!

    peace....

  • Wow!!! I love this video. It shows many different techniques. I love wrapping my locs in different scarves but just got more ideas...thanks for sharing

  • WOW....and here I was thinking that I might want to relax my hair again. I do not think so. I have been natural now for a little over a year and I get so many compliments on it. Think I might try wrapping it for a different feel. Peace and many blessings for a great video.

  • Encouraging & Insightful vid ... thanks for sharing! Please identify the first background music/song ... loved it (& of course, I love the 2nd Sade piece!)

  • nice video! My hair is full and natural and I am having a hard time finding wraps. I live in Florida, but do you know of a place online where I can order some?

  • I just wanted to know where did you get that photo of the little black girl blow drying her hair @ :45. I want that.

  • Beautiful****

  • Nice video, I absolutely LOVE that first instrumental...who's song is that??

  • thanks for the bigups!

  • Lovely armor to start off my Monday, vs. the t.v. (few natural images)... great video!!! ;0) peace, blessings & bliss

  • WOW! This is really beautiful, thanks for putting it out there.

  • Thanks Sis for the Kudos! I am working on another presentation. The feedback I am receiving from this video presentation gives me the motivation to complete another. Once again, thanks for the feedback! ONE

  • another thing is people make "nappy" have a negative connotation, buit i love nappy hair and i love referring to my hair as nappy

  • I can relate! Someone told me the same thing about the term "Nappy" being negative. Food for thought is how I took it and can relate becaue I don't like the N-word, Picnic table, "pinky" finger, or a black person saying that they have a "tan"! I changed my presentation and used the word, "natural" instead of "nappy", but I can't switch the video to reflect the change with the one I have posted. If anyone out there knows how to switch out their videos let me know. ONE

  • That was cute!

  • Thanks CottonCandy for the kudos! One love

  • kewl!

  • thanks for the kudos! one love
