  • @7jsm7 This may been the most educated reply to what I've said yet. It's true that long-established can mean different things to different people, but look back on what I originally said. "I wouldn't say k-state has much of a tradition," not, "K-state has no tradition." I was stating an opinion. Also, if you look at college bcs football tradition as a whole, what k-state has accomplished is minute compared to the traditional "power-houses" as we've been speaking about.

  • @spangler0903

What are you talking about? Ksu won the fiesta bowl in 97. I think you're the one who is close minded.

  • Wow haven't looked at thin in awhile. WoundCoaster. MrCheezy. Tradition: A long-established custom or belief that has been passed on in this way. Key words "Long-Established". K-State is doing awesome, and I root them on every week, but to say they have a tradition is close-minded. As stated earlier they've not won a single bcs bowl game, and one lonely conference championship. Fortunate for them they have arguably the best coach in college football, if only he were 20-30 years younger.

  • @Spangler0903 "Long-Established" can mean different things to different people. To me K-State has been a dominant force to be reckoned with since Snyder took over. He has been our head coach for a lot of years and that translates to a long time, thus it is a long established custom, and therefore a tradition. I would not consider K-State basketball a tradition yet, but when Frank Martin nears the end of his career I would most certainly call K-State Basketball a tradition.

  • @7jsm7 It was a tradition before Frank Martin, just long dormant.

  • @TheRiles589 true, It's hard for me to think of it as one though because I wasn't born soon enough to have witnessed it. I remember the Wooldridge days, but not really anything before that. But I don know that at one point KSU had more tournament wins than KU.

  • awful "motivational" video. Whoever thought those "effects" were a good idea was not exactly the brightest chap in the room.

  • alot of bitching on these video. I am a true K-state fan, grew up in Rural Kansas 90 miles west of manhattan, i dont care about tradition. Tradition only looks good on a billboard on the side of the highway. being a Kstate fan you dont care about tradition. You stick by your team win or lose, and its nice to gloat a little when we're winning, and winning well cause we aren't use to it. We are the Spoilers, we know this and are proud to be so. EMAW

  • Ubben, this does not deliver. The "special effects" render this film unwatchable. I've got no beef with KSU, and I hope they win out.

  • I'd say that 10/11 year run Snyder had would be classified as more than "decent". Nice try though.

  • The black out effect was to much. But other than that good video

  • EMAW!

  • I wouldn't say K-state football has much of a "tradition", but still cool they are doing so well.

  • @Spangler0903 Then I bet you haven't payed much attention to them since the 90's.

  • @Spangler0903 You obviously have not followed Kansas State very long then, moron.

  • @WoundCoaster Neither have you, apparently. KSU has about 20 years of slightly above average "tradition". They had a decent 10- year run, but even with that considered, they still have only won 1 conference championship, and 0 BCS bowls. Prior to that "tradition", the KSU "tradition" was to lose double-digit games every year. KSU, now, is a decent program and Snyder is a very good coach. But KSU fans have a habit of drastic exaggeration when it comes to their relevance in CFB history.

  • @MrCheezyQ 1 bcs bowl that goes along with a conference championship there ace, also beat a Donovan McNabb led syracuse team in the fiesta bowl the year prior to the bcs affiliation....and why the quotations around tradition? just because kstate doesn't have a usc type tradition doesn't make it nontradition. somebody get this kid off the google internet machiney

  • @furneyt1 Clearly, I intended to say that you did not WIN any BCS bowl games...but good for you for pointing out the error. You contrast KSU tradition with teams like USC, but that isn't a remotely good comparison. KSU's tradition is more comparable to TCU, not USC. The reality is that traditionally, KSU was THE worst FBS school in history until the 90s. It is remarkable how far KSU has come, but even as good as KSU has been, they STILL haven't won anything of significance.

  • @MrCheezyQ We get that we were pretty bad, that is not the case anymore because of Bill Snyder, K-State won't be that bad ever again. It's been awhile since those terrible days, so I'm not sure why you would even decide to bring it up, unless you are a KU fan that is butt hurt on the team you have now. Anyway, we do have a good tradition of quality football, ranked, significant teams. Maybe you don't consider it to be good, but I do and so do many others. So get your KU loving ass off of here.

  • @furneyt1 Further, why are KSU fans so butt-hurt over Spangler's comment? It was accurate but still complimentary. This is the problem with KSU fans in general. They don't have an accurate view of their program and its place in college football. Be a fan, and be proud of your program and where it's at now, but don't get so pissed when someone simply says that KSU doesn't have much of a tradition in football. It's a fact.

  • @MrCheezyQ you obviously dont know what tradition is here at KSU since you arnt a KSU fan. We have tradition...even if it hasnt been started for very long since we have been good. but we have tradition. we dont take every win for granted like other teams do. we have a lot of pride for our team win or lose and sports mean a lot to the people here in manhattan kansas. that alone is tradition.

  • @blackbear113 I didn't say you don't have "a tradition". I just agreed with Spangler that you don't have "much of a tradition". It's not an insult. It's just a statement of fact. I could say that UF doesn't have much of a tradition, and I would be correct, because their success has primarily been in the last 15 years or so. Either way, if you want to misunderstand what I'm saying and get your feelings hurt, that's on you, not me. I'm just providing some sorely needed perspective, that's all.

  • @MrCheezyQ well ok but if you arnt a ksu fan than why are you on here posting and commenting anyway?

  • @blackbear113 The soonersportsdotcom site lists news and various links for OU and the opponent they're facing each week. I commented because I didn't think Spangler said anything wrong.

  • @MrCheezyQ You don't have much perspective if you think 15-20 years worth of good teams is not a good tradition. I would say UF has a good tradition too

  • @josh72430 Honestly, you're not getting what I'm saying, because you're not paying attention, so I SHOULD just leave it be. But, CFB is one of the few sports where "tradition" goes back well beyond 15-20 years. Does that mean that KSU and UF aren't good programs? No. But they don't have a lot of "tradition" when compared to other programs. For KSU's place in history, see: sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3846173. Good program, poor history/tradition. Pretty simple, really.

  • @MrCheezyQ bro, just pointing out your misuse of the quotes around tradition. i didn't state anywhere that ksu was on par with usc. however, they do have a "tradition," but it isn't "one of the storied traditions." it also isn't one of the "close to second-tier type traditions," either. but that doesn't mean we can't be proud of what LHC Bill Snyder has done for the football program, university, and community in little MHK. i'm sorry your comprehension skills are lacking

  • @furneyt1 Did you actually read any of my posts? I didn't misuse the quotes at all. I said that it was perfectly fine to be proud of your team and that Snyder is a great coach, but that it was unnecessary to chew out Spangler for making a true statement. You did make a contrast (the word I actually used) with USC. I also clarified Spangler's use of the phrase "much of a tradition" didn't mean that KSU has NO tradition. It doesn't seem that I am the one with comprehension issues.

  • This video tells the story of which we are all proud, but it's sort of a knock-off of one that was done when Coach Snyder returned.

Search for it on YouTube, Snyderman Returns.

  • I'm a proud alum and love following our sports teams, but my first reaction to seeing this video is "which 12-year-old that just learned video editing software created this video?" Great clips and great audio, but that black overlay thing is a mess. Disappointing doesn't begin to describe it.

  • Nice concept, but who wrote off on the horrible picture editing? Terrible effects!

  • Who decided that video effect looked good?

  • WTF is wrong with the picture? That's awful.
