Call it cowardice, treason, iron defiency or whatever, but if I had a flamethrower pointed at me I would suddenly become MUCH more useful to my enemy alive, if you catch my drift. Just throwing that out there on the off chance whomever tries to conquer Ontario in WWIII reads this.
Hey damoosebelly! Just in case you haven't been told lately... You're the best, my man! Thank-you so much for going to all the trouble of posting these docs. Much appreciated.
i know like how the end em that last little line and then that sound it gives you that creepy lury feeling of the war you know, God bless we don't live in those times
Itss impossible to imagine a historical documentary series being commissioned now with a 4 year lead time. Now they would be given 4 months, which is why most modern docs are banal, patronising dumbed down crap.
@5000433 Dumbed down crap for dumbed down audiences. They knew that back then the average viewer was more or less educated, now every bastard has TV, thus they make them easier to comprehend, so that the fools wouldn't get confused. :D
@Lachausis Peak viewing too. I remember seeing them, they were aired at 9pm I think it was Wednesdays. They would get like 8 million viewers. For a doc thats PD impressive.
@5000433 in japan,it was aired 2 yrs ago in history channel,1 whole day of all twaw show,i took the very opportunity to tape it on vhs as it started, luckily it's sunday :)
Unfortunately this show is outdated because of the new documents and information released since the 80's and 90's (specially from the soviets or ex-soviets) But overall it is a great source of information.
invading Russia the same mistake that Napoleon Bonaparte did instead of finishing the weak link (england)he destroy his army in a land twice the size of Europe
Excuse me, but you wrote year's with an apostrophe; this is wrong. The apostrophe should be used either to show a contraction: for ex: it's - the contraction of it is - that is a letter, or letters, which the apostrophe shows are missing, or it serves to show possession. Jack's car, the company's manager, a week's holiday etc. If I mention this it's because so many people get it wrong, so this advice is for them as much as you.

The World at War was produced by Jeremy Isaacs for Thames Television (UK). Commissioned in 1969, it took four years to produce, such was the depth of its research. It premiered on ITV in 1973 at a cost of £900,000, a record (at the time) for a British television programme.
