I get it now! so then how do people like christina grimmie, alyssa shouse, emily taylor, get all their views? they have music as their videos categories
@kelluvselgomez they get their views because the have 1000s of subscribers , their subscribers are the reason they shows up on the single music page left , they would double or triple her views if they used any other category because they would be on a 100 pages right away with all the comments , rating s , fave , ect, but music is now the only category with one page , the handful of artist your talking about are the exception , out of millions
Dana, thanks for the info and for bringing this to the forefront. It's upsetting. I will be on national TV this coming week and as an artist that makes a living doing music, I take this as a personal slap in the face. I apreciate your attention and detail. Thank you.
Thanks for detailed explanation, Dana. I was introduced to YT in 2008 but didn't have 'net connection until 2010. Shortly thereafter they made a lot of changes (no more 5-star rating system, lots of advertising, etc). I didn't know about all the options you describe, but have to agree, they've taken the "You" out of YouTube. They (Google) sold out to make more profit.
I will add this to my Favourites and hopefully it will reach a few subscribers that way.
Thanks Dana, I understand it now and really appreciate your raising this issue. The history of pop music is that the corporations have always tried to dictate / ration / control it. Lady gaga et al actually have nothing to do with music. It's anti-music and I've never heard such a horrible sound. But it's like Jurassic Park, their control is just an illusion, music will find a way. So, in the long term, I'm optimistic that the age of information is on our side.
I wonder if the majority of people ever will realize it, I think those who already have tons of subs and views should tell the people that follows them so the word get spread
@MagicalSunrise1984 I've thought about that, one with only amateurs and no advertising, it would have to be funded by a monthly or yearly fee, would people be willing to do that?
another option is to use the youtube to connect people - for examples - spreading the words to friends - sharing videos, posting video vlogs introducing new or unknown artists
btw - this problem exists not only in music channels
only today i have searched the category "stop motion" and found the same pattern
i'd do a vlog myself but i don't have that many subscribers so it would not contribute the artists anything lol

I believe this is about time to shut activity on youtube and have an organized move to another music sharing videos site
Or create one

@jugnutgut
get well known vloggers with many subscribers to post vlogs with links to unknown channels so that they can get more exposure
