  • Say I have a 1971 Bus and have a question about running a 1970 Transaxle. Well I did it without thinking and the Throw-Out is Howling when I press the clutch all the way in. What want to know is the easiest way to solve this problem. Can I just put in a 1970 Clutch? Note! The 1970 1971 years saw a design change with the Clutch and the Throw-Out and Transaxle Bell Housing.

  • @dagoldfishies Hello, yes you answered your own question, the pressure plate should match the throw out bearing.Being the early model the pressure plate should have the ring in the center. Thx ,Tony

  • 34 pict 3 and 009 dizzy good combo or not?

  • @PAMAROSHOUSE If you have a good vacuum distributor I'd run that, if not you can make 009 and 34 live happily ever after. Tony

  • @FisherSpirit1 I had tuned a 74 that had a dual vacuum (one for retard) and it worked fine with a 30/31 pict. I just capped the retard line. Originally somewhat mounted a Solex C34 TCIC dual bbl carb that must have came off of a 2 liter bus. The carb needed a rebuild so it was cheaper just to buy a new 30/31.

  • fahfeez what vehicle do you have and what type of driving are you doing?

    Larry

  • And please also tell me how much advance is required in case of double vacuum advance system dist...

  • Can you please tell me which is the best distributor the double vacuum or the centrifugal advanced 009?

  • Hey great Video man i have a 69vw baja with a new 1776 motor i built myself....Thanks soo much for the video! it helped alot!

  • The next step is to make sure fuel lines at the pump are correct, in and out. If so pull the fuel line off the carb and spin the motor over and see if fuel pump is pumping gas. If it is not pumping gas, there is a problem with the fuel pump. Double check the supply line from the tank, when disconnected from the pump, bold it down and gas should flow.

  • Howdy, Tony -

I found this helpful this evening in timing my 73 super beetle. I got a lot done this evening actually. I replaced the pump diaphragm in the carburetor, replaced the gasket in the manual fuel pump and changed the oil. It did fire up and run correctly but only for a few seconds. I also replaced a few sections of fuel line here and there around the carb. It doesn't seem to be getting the correct gas through or to the carburetor. Thank you, great job!

  • hi mate i have watched your 2 movies & thought they were awesome specially as no one really tell you how to tune a 009 on here. i still have a problem tho. i am running a single 40 idf weber on my 1600 flat 4 i done a rough timing set up on it. but i have a massive flat spot when i put my foot down? i dont know how to tune the carb either can you help?

  • @marcolovebucket

I don't really know if this is your case, but if you go to thesamba.com they have info on certain carb combinations that have flat spots. good luck
