  • @haltdeklappe if u dont like it then dont listen to it

  • @haltdeklappe lol you been negged clear outta existence on here but meanwhile..... Bach had 20 children

  • MATURE

  • @Logistica11735 you sir have the taste of a Philistine and a pig. your total inability to appreciate beauty may be cause in part by the fact that you have the education of child or merely the brain of one.

  • @DikeEris Whats up with every one and "gay"

use it in times where it makes sense

  • @Logistica11735 you should watch what you say .. its not gay.. you play it post it on youtube and see what comments come to you.

  • Very nice

  • i remember when i played this song its my fave solo you should hear when both movements are to together then you would really be speechless

  • Wow this song leaves my speechless... The Heavens speak to me... (tears roll down my eyes)

  • Man, I love this...we can be a peace with one another and God...that is what this song say's to me.

  • This is the easiest movement of any suite

  • he playing it in the hall of the gods and he is fricken zeus

  • So beautiful, melancholy and hopeful at the same time.

  • how do you pronounce his name

  • @MARDIGRASish Mee-shuh Mi-ski

  • fucking epic... im playing these 2 at the moment, and the intonation is very hard... so many changes in postion.. aww man this is beauty in its pure form!!

  • @situationaluse how long have you been playing the cello?

  • @FreshAsphalt i have been playing for like 2 years:-)

  • This tastes so good. It's like I'm eating chocolate.

  • It is unbelievable that he memorized all these.

  • @helio231 it really isn't. if you practice and play the songs enough, they just get in your head, and your hands memorize the movements and the music :)

  • The cello has to be the most ever greatest instrument known to mammalian man lol

My likes list in order of hierarchy:

    1 Cello

    2. Piano and Harp (the big ass grand harps!) if any one has the same list agree with me somehow :P

  • @Miguelsr1rst Dido I think just the cello and the piano and a divine combination

  • nice

  • I have the fabulous DG 1985 recordings of the Bach Cello suites....just the greatest ...

  • @mcleodricky Post them please!

  • Interesting, he plays those E-s with the redundant natural signs (in Menuet II) as Eb first (1:33), and E (1:41) second.

I play both as Eb-s, but this solution sounds good too.

  • Raul Seixas playing cello

  • his pinky is like another thumb!

  • i love his piano!! He's amazing!

  • I <3 playing the cello :D!

    Epic Cello.

    EPIC HAIR!

  • @Akela7711 There is a celloist in my strings class who has a bigger afro.

  • @VampireGirl65 1 00 - have you played it? I am VERY bad at memorizing music, but Bach is easier than most composers, at least for me.

  • i dont think i would be able to memorize all of this. lol

  • @VampireGirl65100 It's not hard at all to memorize this one.

  • me encanta este tema :D

  • his 3rd finger is collapsed a lot of the time.... pretty much the only flaw

  • @stumpflloutboylover cool a fellow cello player

  • @stumpflloutboylover This sounds silly, I know, but he very well may be double-jointed. I have that problem often, when I am playing with great intensity or passion. Needless to say, I am double-jointed. However, I generally make a conscious effort to correct it if I am preforming.

  • @kuragari318 Me too. I have the same issue when I play like he is. I try to correct it. Anyway, this man is amazing! Does anyone know who he is or where he studied?

  • He`s not jesus, he`s paulus

  • you dont screw the marines, THE MARINES SCREW YOU

  • Good lord. O_o

  • It`s wonderful!

I respect Mischa Maisky, because he plays from spirit!

I play J.S Bach suite 1-Menuet 1-2 in the musical elemetary school and when i was heared this, i was wondered...

I look up for this talented Artist like an idol...

  • this recording is really nice =D and the acoustics of the room he's playing in are really beautiful

  • this is a piece to quicken the pulse and liven the appetite..

make some foolish mistakes before the meal and set the stage for a feast

  • I prefer his playing over yoyoma.

  • in soviet russia, bach cello suite play you.

  • I've always played this piece a lot slower, but it seems like everyone else plays it fast.

  • jesus plays cello?

  • @cofiddle And has a afro of sorts.

  • he`s not jesus, he`s paulus

  • @cofiddle duh its the instrument of the gods

  • @cofiddle why, i wouldn't be surprised. :)

  • @cofiddle : As a God!

  • when i stumbled upon this i searched for my old sheetmusic everywhere (quit playing a few years back). when i couldn't find it tried playing this by heart and it just came back to me, perfectly. amazing how some pieces will stay with you forever. miss playing though, think i may start practicing again...

  • @MsBrainwaves I am in a similar situation. We recently moved to a new community and to get to know people we looked into joining a local theatre company (mostly for my son...) It turns out they need a cello player and my daughter volunteered me. I have not played in years and my cello is in disrepair (gasp!) So I am getting it repaired and looking for my old sheet music. Bach is of course top of the list.

  • ALL PRAISE THE 'FRO. I believe it is the secret to his astounding playing.

  • What I've always wondered is how he manages to keep his hair the same style all through his life. When he's older it's just completely white, making him look like a mad scientist of some sort :D

  • maravilhoso!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely mesmerizing. A brilliant piece so eloquently done. Fine job.

  • this helps me feel god.

i dont need church to believe.

  • love it

  • yoyoma no le llega ni a los talones a este hombre no seas ingnorante miserable

  • @Proffanumless your write

  • lol

  • rly horrible ?

  • wonderful!

  • soo amazing

  • stop all this fighting lets b one race and enjoy beautiful simplistic sounds of the cello

  • Can't wait to hear it Ferndawg! :0)

  • Wow, I ignore this thread for a bit and look what happens! I'm stupid for being Spanish (Im not, actually. Who cares what I am, anyway), I'm made out to be some fanatical fundementalist nutjob because of a belief in God and apparently, I go around misquoting Dostoyevski. People, my message is simply this: This piece is beautiful, divine some may say. This low talk about nationality and how religion is bad is beneath most of you, I would say.

  • @DoroteoVilla You are right Doroteo, ignore silly comments, they are not worth the time you could be listening to the notes of bach :)

You know who/what you are, leave that for you and your family to be proud of.

    /Dan

  • @DoroteoVilla It is below people who realize it. Your words fall on hollow ears; for the people that agree with you already know the correctness of your words and those who do not will never hear them... Just saying, lowers the blood pressure if you just ignore them like Dan said! :D

  • I'm going to play this in Solo/Ensemble in a month...wish me luck!

  • so you couldnt stand alone by your little racist remark eh? ahahaha yes, im polish.. ;) ur paper heart couldnt stand it :) you had to mask it a a joke eh? hahahahhaha. very funny boy u r, milk your performance for sympathy later too, seems you have a good potential for pious little teeth boy... Good luck with your performance. jk :)

  • FYI, I didn't give you a thumb's down at all....I really couldn't care less. But you "thumb's downed" someone because they speak Spanish.....I'm just making sure what went around, came around.

  • I think it is hilarious how race, ethnicity, nationality and country can come under insult while watching this amazing cellist. I have said some horribly idiotic things in youtube comments and I am sure I will say more stupid things.

This makes me realize how much of an idiot I am.

  • Well.. man.. i put you a thumb up, because you might have been trying, but im afraid, you dont have enough capacity, as yet, to conceptualise the totality of your own idiocy.

With that, best of luck in the future.

  • Very nice!

  • I wanna have a hair cut same as his! :D

beside that, beautiful play love it

  • Great, This is beautiful music. I also play this.

  • love this version, i've been looping it i-dont-know-how-many times!

  • Latvian

  • He probably uses Maine n' Tail. Lol. But anyways, this is beautiful...

  • where is he playing this? in a studio? on a stage? in a musem?wonder how much shampoo he uses?

  • The performance took place in Italy in a villa built by the architect Andrea Palladio.

  • @robbyraidr Or hairspray..(:

  • @robbyraidr It looks like he is playing in Pompeii based on the frescs on the walls. ^^

  • @robbyraidr

    Hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahah ...................

  • @robbyraidr i'm sure it's a greek art museum. see all of those other rooms? maybe they make him play in the other rooms to match the song's tune.

  • Sergio Pepe. 1º3ª T.V.

  • i bomb u

  • i just love watching them play

  • I love his interpretation! I like this speed. It is a minuet after all.

  • im ganna see if i can get into coral reef high school playing this song at the audition

  • I love playing this piece although I do personally think it sounds better a bit slower.

  • You have the notes for the song? can you tell me were you got them?

  • Yea, suzuki book 4. :D

  • thanx

  • You can also get it from Bach - Six Suites for Violincello solo.

    by Barenreiter.

  • i've just bought a book whit all the pieces from suite no.1 in a music shop, it wasn't expensive.

  • got to play this on electric bass...... hard as fuck.

  • im playing this for a contest next week

  • Great Playing!

  • I had to find this since it's in Civilization IV and its one of Bach's greatest for the cello

  • He is playing inside the Vatican. And they say man has no divine spark. Bubbles the chimp will never evolve into this!

  • when did they say that? actually they say totally the opposite, that man should use their wonderful skills to help... besides Church gave an importat support to the Men in the Renaissance (the age were men discovered the "divine spark" you talk about)

oh, and bubbles to you, since not even scientist have a "good" explanation to say why did the human evolve SO fastly, and to explain why do our chromosomes and inherit laws are SO different from animals...

  • True enough regarding the Renaissance. The majority of art, architecture, culture and beliefs of the age were tied to the church-ipso-facto-God. You could argue whether the Sistine Chappel was directly inspired by God, God helped paint it or is simply the work of one of the most gifted (evolved if you will) men in history.

  • You're right (I write this on english for people to understand) Einstain said "I want to know God's thoughts and God doesn't play with Dice"

And well, if we think that God doesn't exist, we might be against Science's BASIC principles, since the MAYOR scientists and philosophers of Greece, the Renaissance, and the Enlightment beleived God exists

But I think this discussion is really getting out of the WONDERFUL video, so we may stop it, I don't think this will end somewhere....

  • At least they're not polish. jk lol

  • beautiful!

  • wonderful

  • what is the name of this cellista ?

  • check the info. says Mischa Maisky

  • When was this recording made?

  • Bach is such a joy to play.

  • playing this now... I love it!

  • dude it has the two best keys ever. f major and bflat major. its awesome

  • it's in G major and D minor/F major.

  • G major and G dorian

  • jesus christ people its G major and g minor.

  • I agree. It is G Major, and g minor. The only reason that it has one flat is to imply melodic minor because there is no harmony with it. Thus the melody is developed with melodic minor. You see Eb on the way down the scale as you see E natural and F# on the way up.

I'm playing this on my Euph for my sophomore review. Its so beautiful. Playing it on a brass instrument is like doing gymnastics though.

  • Lol I am playing it on marimba!

  • I love the melody of this piece, its so great, and I love playing it.

  • Of course it is great. It's Bach! Bach is great. His music is great. His mind was great.

  • I absolutly Adore this piece.

Especially the second movements, the stuff is just WOAH

  • without having to focus on sheet music, you can concentrate on other things, like technique, intonation, etc.

and mischa is a brilliant cellist. i have a double cd of his music, and music played by him.

  • Sweet.

    P.S

    His hair is stylin'. Ha!

  • i like this player ^^ he's looking cool and he's an awsome player!

  • i also like to play cello in rooms like the one he is in

  • I love this song, the melody make me cry

  • These movements are great but I'm playing them on tenor sax, so they're a little difficult cause of the fingerings for saxophone & playing stylistically correct.

  • I'm learning how to play this now. It its great for getting your intonation correct.

  • or making you realise how bad your intonation is in my case!

  • This is played perfectly. I heard it played on the violin the other day, and this is just as beautiful.

  • one of the things i love about the bach cello suites is that every cellist can play them their own way. they are the kind of works that you can look at form a different prespective and can take inspiration from each interpretation.

  • I sooo agree! I interpret it differently than Rostropovich or Yo Yo Ma or Popper or anybody, and they all interpret it differently from the others. It is a source of great argument amongst cellists, but I also greatly admire this piece for that reason. Well said!

  • @mattbelios thats right, i have three different CDs by three different cellists and they are all totally different!

  • I used to play this on viola. I wish I learned cello though I always felt I had the hands to pull it off.

  • where can i get the music sheet without buying it? Or getting it off of the internet.

  • Very talented and good performance/technical skill, bravo from a fellow cellist!

Performed this Bach Suite myself to get my certificate after 7 years of learning to play cello. And Vivaldi.

    sigh...

  • One of the greatest works ever written, played by one of the world's greatest artists - bravo Misha!

  • My favourite... MII is a little slower than the usual - still the same peice I adore so much.

  • The intonation is nearly perfect. Excellent.

  • ...most people memorize their music fairly easy....

  • speak for yourself!

  • Musik of the engels

  • Music, Angels... I commend you for such a nice comment, but please, use spellcheck :P

  • hows your german? if you were posting in german would you spell it right? because chances are this person speaks german as a first language, not english
