Probably the nicest WASR out there haha! Great job man. But I have a question about putting different pistol grips on an ak. Okay doesn't the bolt that keeps the PG on the rifle go from inside the rifle to the bottom of the PG (pistol grip)? How do you get a PG on there that you can store stuff in? The way im thinking about (with a short bolt holding close and tight to grip and receiver) seems like it would bend the stamped receiver after sometime of firing the rifle. Great job man! Looks nice!
@MrUnworthyOne There is a "T" nut onside the receiver and the pistol grip screw is torqued from underneath/inside the grip. The screw sits flush with the upper portion of the pistol grip which leaves room for storage space. For what it's worth I've never heard of anyone breaking an AK pistol grip, nor bending a receiver from whacking one.
@mness98117 No idea, but I hope someone can help you! Of course, if you have a "rare" or valuable milled AK, I would advise against doing so. Chopping up an AK should be a "stamped receiver only" affair!
@jjackson29214 The problem with Vertical Grips on AKs is that unless they are angled forward like the Romanian Donkey Dong Grip, they interfere with speedy mag changes (30 rounders). There's offset grips, but that's just weird.
@keystoneprepper It's an AK, of course it runs! Even WASRs run! Only problem is, like every other AK with Wolf garbage in the magazine, it'll only shoot 9" 10-shot groups at 100 yards! :-D
Gun look's good man. How do you like the fast fire, whats the price and battery life like?? I was thinking of putting the micro t-1 aimpoint on my ak. My gun smith tha'ts doing the work for me. Think's it's alittle dumb to put a $700 sight on a gun, that will probly only shoot 3" groups at a 100 yard's. Im strarting to agree
@ImMrTriggerHappy I bought mine when they were cheaper, like 150, but now they are ~200 with the mount. I turn off the battery when not in use, but shooting the rifle for a few hours each weekend, the battery still lasted me over a year. The Fastfire is fragile though, and for $200 I would probably buy the Vortex Sparc rather than the Fastfire. On another note, if you can shoot a 10-shot, 3" group with an AK using Wolf ammo, then that is a rare event and the rifle would be real special! ;)
@boricuaDV Ok thanks. Ill have to check out that other sight. Its a saiga 7.62x39 hes putting a pistol grip on it, got the ergo like u got, vltor collapsibal stock kit, putting a safty selector on the left side of the gun. Took the old scope mount off, threaded the barrel, putting a 74 brake on it. Doing like a galil style charging handle on it, silver soldered and pinned the gas piston tube in place.
@boricuaDV solodered two picatinny rails to it for my sight and light. hoping it will be low enough to cowitness my sights. He said he cut the rail as low as it could go. Put a feed ramp in, made a new mag release so I can drop it with my index finger. oh and a diffrent trigger, I forget what brand tho. I dont know how well any of this will make it shoot any better besides the trigger, sight and brake
I have the Midwest industries hand guard and it's great ($100 less than the k-rail) and it also has the ability to cowitness with the Burris fastfire red dot, but you'll have to by a separate top guard for that I think it's $45, it's what I have on my ak47 and I've fired over 2000 rounds since I got it and it's still tight. best hand guard I've seen or used on my ak, I had the ultimak but I didn't like the plastic, it smelt like it was melting after only like 250 rounds lol
Ultimaks are all metal. Hopefully you didn't buy an Airsoft rip-off version, because that's not how the real Ultimaks are made. The real ones are a great solution, but they pump a lot of heat onto the optics. Not so good for anything other than an Aimpoint.
@boricuaDV i dont know if it was a rip off one because it was on the gun when i got it, but the gas tube was metal with the integrated top rail that was directly screwed to the lower hand guard, which was some kind of reinforced plastic. it was really sturdy but i just didnt like it because i dont like front mount optics, i have a beryl mount top rail for my scope and that works great, hold zero and it makes the gun look bad ass.
Is this a Romanian variant ? Samson k rail offers a model 1 C for century. Does that mean for the Century Arms AKz? Whats the difference between the model 1 and the model 1C? Also if I go with the model 1 k rail will it be compatible with my WASR 10/63 Romanian AK?
That is awesome!! Great Job man!! Maybe drop some links in case we would like to visit some of the sites of the companies you used to rebuild your rifle. Also I was wondering if perhaps you would know where I could take a look at some after market Ak Barrels? To make the rifle more accurate and help with extended use.
Love the looks of your AK, I think I will go with the ACE Folder myself. I'll have a gunsmith put that on for me due to the cutting you need to do. What length stock did you end up putting on your AK?
hey,im looking at getting a k rail just like the one u have but want to know what the cut out on the left side is for an do they all come like that or can i get it with out the cut,hit me back please,an could u send pic of the k rails left side if to much trouble thats fine, but plesae hit me up would like ur info on the rail,THANKS
not here to knock your video or your modding skills, but why would you mod an AK, its such a brute of a gun, y not mod something like a m14 or a bolt action rifle???
@IIIArrow711 b/c the AK has the worst sights of any combat rifle in history and also the most abysmal accuracy. Adding a free float rail increases accuracy and allows the mounting of optics in the scout position. Besides, I've already modded my M14 (see videos) ;)
The traditional AK was designed to be bare-bones simple. While this is all well and good for the inexperienced shooter, the traditional configuration is unfriendly to the experienced and tactical-minded. It's a bitch to attach lights, the iron sights are too low to cowitness with many optics, and the ergos aren't quite as efficient compared to more modern rifle designs. Doing these mods makes the AK more relevant in current combat tactics and more efficient in the right hands.
Great video. I purchase the Samson K rail just from watching this video. The only thing that you didn't mention is that to install the K rail you have to grind off the loop for the slinge. Normaly this isn't a problem but I duracoated mine before the K rail arrived. Still not a big deal, just wanted to get that out before someone made the same miskate as I did. Maybe for future AK nuts you could do an install video of the K rail. I could find one anywhere.
@semiautoriflelover With these stocks, you order the stock length of your choice, then the butt pad thickness of your choice, then add another 1 inch for the folding internal block. I am not sure how much longer the no-modification folding block is though...
hey bro i have a rifle i want to put an ace ltd stock on it & i do have to cut off the tang & i was wondering if you might be able to help me out with that.. so i was wondering if you could let me know how you did it. it would really be helpful & i would really appreciate itt!!! thanx.
@juggla4evr1 I used hacksaw followed up with a Dremel tool to cut off and smooth out the rear tang. I touched it up with cold blue and then proceeded to the next step of upgrades. The first thing you need is a big pair of balls. I had to grow them some more before I attacked the AK with these tools.
I paid 470 after tax for a WASR 10 - I fucking love it. It looks like it's been through hell, an according to the serial number its older than me! But for some crazy reason it works better than my picky whiny new ar15!!!!!!!!!! AKs win.
@MonteBusa No,as far as ai know, only the Ultimak gas tube replacement system will give you a co-witness with a small red dot. Some of the latest Russian Side mounts (BP-02?) may offer this as well, but I'm not sure.
Nice, this is pretty much what i plan to do with a Draco pistol. Going to use that rail or similar and the ace folding stock, i'm going to use a micro red dot with a scout scope mount. (Of course all NFA rules will be followed)
i know that some of you don't like airsoft or think it's adult's playing war . But is it possible to use real weapon ralings on an airsoft gun and the gun is ak 47 replica airsoft gun
@lianglonglong You would then be putting a $200 rail system on an airsoft gun. The smarter thing to do would be to go with an airsoft replica rail or something else completely.
I can get 7-10 inch groups at over 200+ yards with a 10/63, give some work done to the rifle and applying some optics. Anything over 300+ is luck IMHO. But even though AK's are hardly as inaccurate as people are lead to believe....bottom line is it is not as accurate as most assault rifles/carbines out there. If you buy an AK is for is unquestionable reliability, its a weapon you can depend on. Ak74 is much more up to par on accuracy, but most M16/M4 variants are still slightly better.
It is true that AKs are more accurate than they get credit for, and likewise, AR15s are much more reliable than THEY get credit for. I'm curious to know what kind of ammo you are shooting to get 7 inches at 200+ yards, as in my experience this isn't achieved using Wolf, Golden Tiger, or Brown Bear ammo (which is what most people shoot through AKs). American ammo tends to use the wrong bullets (.308 and not .310 or .311). Also cuirous to how many shots comprise these groups: 3,5,10?
@boricuaDV 5 shot groups with Golden Tiger, anything over a 5-6 shots and I'm bound to have a stray or even a miss, its the violent action of the gun, and loose tolerances that make an AK inaccurate not the round so much. But those same low tolerances are part of the reason the gun is so reliable in the first place. The AR15 reliability "issues" are not issues at all if people would simply take care of they're weapons. Even if you have an AK you should clean it.
I would love to see an unedited, unbroken video of ANYONE, professional or otherwise, shooting 6 shots at 200 yards and printing 7 inches with Golden Tiger ammo. In 20 years of shooting, I've never seen it done, not one single time. All I get is references to videos, but never anyone who is willing to do it, videotape it, and back it up. The fact of the matter is, Russian acceptance standard for an AK is 6 inches at 100 yards. I've owned almost every type of semi-auto military pattern rifle. EOS
@xxfleshtrapxx holyshit no need to be rude and call me a liar I SERIOUSLY meant 100+ yards, 200+ i can hit man size targets with 5 shot groups, but I'm not good enough shot to get inside 15inchs, I never tried 300yards which i hear is the max your going to make any kind of shot. Point was that people seem to think anything over 100yards on an AK is just not possible, which is flat out not true. And to whoever was talking about the MP5, its a submachine gun, its used for CQB which its great for.
accuracy is fine and well but the ability to hit the "wings off a fly 'at 500 yrds isnt needed in %99 of all combat firefights. An ak is accurate out to 300 meters within a few inchs I have seen it so many times unless you have some cruddy wasr .A good quality ak is accurate enough its the shooter that determines performance.
@TheJt1978 We're all sitting here waiting for you to post irrefutable video evidence of an AK shooting steel cased ammo in any grouping that can be described as "a few inchs." On that note, it is "inches" and not "inchs" and if you want to call someone an "idiot" please make sure you know how to spell it first. Nobody knows what an "idoit" is. P.S. - We're all waiting for your video, oh might AK sniper! XD
wow that dark colored stock looks nice. The rail looks mostly free floating since it dosent touch much of the barrel and the clamp is where the bullet casing is in the barrel so it shouldnt hurt the harmonics that much
you did a really nice job! any suggestions for a folding stock without having to modify the rear trunnion? I have a ak 74 built from a bulgarian parts kit.
@troopcom All of the folding stocks that reqwuire no mods have a block sticking out of the back at least 1 inch long, and they look terrible. They are available, they just aren't as clean looking.
@kewlmanable I disagree, and "idiot" will get you nowhere. Considering I've got the intermediate class very well covered in my collection, I would have been STUPID to pass up the MP5! An AK is an AK, no matter how they're dressed. The AK's 6 inch groups at 100 yards is fine, but accuracy is what really keeps my interest.
@Oorah1987 at it's intended range it is! Much better than the AK at it's intended range, that's for sure. Bottom line: the AK does nothing that my AR, STG556, M1A and MP5 can't accomplish. This is the second AK that I've bought and sold. They fun, but in a world where liability is dictated by accuracy, there are better choices than a 6MOA+ Kalahnikov.
@ARBuilder1776 It shoots Minute-of-Pie-Plate at 100 yards, but I only shoot crappy Wolf ammo out of this gun. Still have another case of Wolf Military Classic to burn through before I try anything else. They say Golden Tiger is a bit more accurate.
how long did it take to get your ace stock did u buy the $164.00 one which comes with all the parts you need and (how does it work do u have to send you gun to duracoat) thanks

The way I figure it My AK is my go-to gun. If something happens, it's the first one my had hits in the rack. Folks often knock the AK and moderninzing it., but generally that's because they are ignorant too just how capable the AK platform is, as a tactical rifle. It has been around for so long, and used by so many nations for a reason. Plus it has that 2nd kind of cool appearance, let's face it, the AK is a mean brother trucker as far as looks are concerned. Gotta say bravo man, it looks great.
wow, ironicly my tacital AK looks nearly the same as your, i used a Mag Pul stock with VLTOR adaptor, Midwest Industies Rail, an ATI grip, UTG mini rail, and a KVAR AK-74 style compensator. I also have the same paint scheme as you, though mine was powder coated, not duracoated
@DaytonaRoadster Sounds like a good setup to me! Modernized AKs are a funny thing. Some folks like them and others vehemently loathe them. I'm in the process of modernizing my M1A. That's really gonna tear the heart out of some of the old farts at the range :-)
@DaytonaRoadster I have an Arsenal 5.45 rifle and I am pretty much going to keep it stock but I think that a nicely tacticalized AK can look really cool, and the same goes with an M1A
@aqualung4206900 The stock was purchased directly from Ace @ RIFLESTOCKS-DOT-COM. The folding block can be oriented to fold either direction. The folder assembly attaches to the stock block, so you just set it up the way you want it.
does anybody know if this rail system will fit on a arsenal sgl-21? the gas block on arsenal ak is a lil different since they use saiga rifles to make their aks and was wondering if it would still fit
@elisierra I'm a huge fan of the Ultimak lower rail system. With its quality 3 rail setup and extended grip surface. The Ultimak gas tube rail will work but I am not very fond of it. After 2 mag dumps, my aimpoint was to hot to touch.
@Army888 as far as the finish formula is concerned, yes, that's it. Adding anything else would likely ruin the batch. I wouldn't advise adding anything that is not recommended by Duracoat. The most important thing is surface preparation. The rifle needs to be thoroughly degreased. There can be absolutely NO oils whatsoever on the surface, and that includes the oils from your hands from handling it.
@Army888 I used brake cleaner for the initial cleaning, then I baked the receiver in the oven at 300 degrees to cook off any remaining oils. After that, I doused the barreled receiver with Denatured Alcohol, while only handling the barreled receiver with gloves. We then strung up the barreled receiver and gave it another bath with the denatured alcohol before spraying the finish.
I don't believe anyone said it was "confusing" but if you don't do the proper pre-work to the surface or if you screw up your ratio of duracoat to hardener, your finish will flake off or peel faster than you can say "AK47."
How did you cut off the tang? How did you get the phantom suppressor on? My AK (MAADI) has no threading on the end of the barrel. Could you give me any info. Thanks
@kiddzero2177 From what i have read you would have to take your weapon to a gun smith or some other metal shop. Have them thread the end of the barrel and then you would attach a suppressor. Or You could remove your flash hider and replace it with a QD suppressor flash hider and attach it that way. Again this is just what I have been told and have read. Not sure how true all if any of it is.
i think free float means that it doesn't touch the rest of the barrel. the barrel cannot just float in mid air. it has the have some thing hold it hence the trunnion. if it is not touching the foreward areas of the barrel it is close enough to a freefloat system. cool rifle though
its nice what you've done 2 it. I got a 10/63 myself. i went for the tactical look just like you for awile.. till i relized its not practical having a rail on an already heavy ak with heavy ammo.. unless you got a short barrel ak. Its nice,, but its gotta be heavy. Not practical for combat unless you dont mind caring a heavy gun around. But good job on the dura coat
Heavy? I don't really think so at all, but I hit the gym at least 3x a week. Heavy to me is my full sized M1A with scope and bipod. Now THAT'S heavy! :) Thanks for the insight.
I agree, people crap their pants about crooked sights. My PSL had crooked sights, i took a tool it came with a bent it and lined it up normally to the front sight leaf. no big deal. Its fully adjustable to howveer you like.
Working perfecctly! The Fastfire is rated to 1000G's of force and was designed to be mounted on a pistol slide. Lots of folks use them on shotguns. I seriously doubt the Mini 14 would destroy it.
Nice AK well done on paint, handguard set up, and stock!!

But is it possible to use real weapon ralings on an airsoft gun and the gun is ak 47 replica airsoft gun
lianglonglong 1 year ago
@lianglonglong You would then be putting a $200 rail system on an airsoft gun. The smarter thing to do would be to go with an airsoft replica rail or something else completely.
boricuaDV 1 year ago
any body know of a good right side folding stock for an AK?
xPOSSUM45x 1 year ago
@xPOSSUM45x The one in the video can be mounted to fold to which ever side you prefer.
MuscIeBound 1 year ago
I can get 7-10 inch groups at over 200+ yards with a 10/63, give some work done to the rifle and applying some optics. Anything over 300+ is luck IMHO. But even though AK's are hardly as inaccurate as people are lead to believe....bottom line is it is not as accurate as most assault rifles/carbines out there. If you buy an AK is for is unquestionable reliability, its a weapon you can depend on. Ak74 is much more up to par on accuracy, but most M16/M4 variants are still slightly better.
xxfleshtrapxx 1 year ago
It is true that AKs are more accurate than they get credit for, and likewise, AR15s are much more reliable than THEY get credit for. I'm curious to know what kind of ammo you are shooting to get 7 inches at 200+ yards, as in my experience this isn't achieved using Wolf, Golden Tiger, or Brown Bear ammo (which is what most people shoot through AKs). American ammo tends to use the wrong bullets (.308 and not .310 or .311). Also cuirous to how many shots comprise these groups: 3,5,10?
boricuaDV 1 year ago
@boricuaDV 5 shot groups with Golden Tiger, anything over a 5-6 shots and I'm bound to have a stray or even a miss, its the violent action of the gun, and loose tolerances that make an AK inaccurate not the round so much. But those same low tolerances are part of the reason the gun is so reliable in the first place. The AR15 reliability "issues" are not issues at all if people would simply take care of they're weapons. Even if you have an AK you should clean it.
xxfleshtrapxx 1 year ago
I would love to see an unedited, unbroken video of ANYONE, professional or otherwise, shooting 6 shots at 200 yards and printing 7 inches with Golden Tiger ammo. In 20 years of shooting, I've never seen it done, not one single time. All I get is references to videos, but never anyone who is willing to do it, videotape it, and back it up. The fact of the matter is, Russian acceptance standard for an AK is 6 inches at 100 yards. I've owned almost every type of semi-auto military pattern rifle. EOS
boricuaDV 1 year ago
@xxfleshtrapxx holyshit no need to be rude and call me a liar I SERIOUSLY meant 100+ yards, 200+ i can hit man size targets with 5 shot groups, but I'm not good enough shot to get inside 15inchs, I never tried 300yards which i hear is the max your going to make any kind of shot. Point was that people seem to think anything over 100yards on an AK is just not possible, which is flat out not true. And to whoever was talking about the MP5, its a submachine gun, its used for CQB which its great for.
xxfleshtrapxx 1 year ago
how much did this all cost
gameboy595 1 year ago
accuracy is fine and well but the ability to hit the "wings off a fly 'at 500 yrds isnt needed in %99 of all combat firefights. An ak is accurate out to 300 meters within a few inchs I have seen it so many times unless you have some cruddy wasr .A good quality ak is accurate enough its the shooter that determines performance.
TheJt1978 1 year ago
@TheJt1978 We're all sitting here waiting for you to post irrefutable video evidence of an AK shooting steel cased ammo in any grouping that can be described as "a few inchs." On that note, it is "inches" and not "inchs" and if you want to call someone an "idiot" please make sure you know how to spell it first. Nobody knows what an "idoit" is. P.S. - We're all waiting for your video, oh might AK sniper! XD

@boricuaDV your an idiot for selling this gun
kewlmanable 1 year ago
@kewlmanable I disagree, and "idiot" will get you nowhere. Considering I've got the intermediate class very well covered in my collection, I would have been STUPID to pass up the MP5! An AK is an AK, no matter how they're dressed. The AK's 6 inch groups at 100 yards is fine, but accuracy is what really keeps my interest.
boricuaDV 1 year ago
@boricuaDV I lust for an mp-5 as much as the next guy, but you said accuracy keeps your interest. I'm pretty sure a 9mm isn't a tack driver.
Oorah1987 1 year ago

RebelRabbit308 1 year ago
wow, ironicly my tacital AK looks nearly the same as your, i used a Mag Pul stock with VLTOR adaptor, Midwest Industies Rail, an ATI grip, UTG mini rail, and a KVAR AK-74 style compensator. I also have the same paint scheme as you, though mine was powder coated, not duracoated
DaytonaRoadster 1 year ago
@DaytonaRoadster Sounds like a good setup to me! Modernized AKs are a funny thing. Some folks like them and others vehemently loathe them. I'm in the process of modernizing my M1A. That's really gonna tear the heart out of some of the old farts at the range :-)

what was the website you got your ace stock from, and how did you get it to fold on the left side?
aqualung4206900 1 year ago
@aqualung4206900 The stock was purchased directly from Ace @ RIFLESTOCKS-DOT-COM. The folding block can be oriented to fold either direction. The folder assembly attaches to the stock block, so you just set it up the way you want it.

elisierra 1 year ago
@elisierra I'm a huge fan of the Ultimak lower rail system. With its quality 3 rail setup and extended grip surface. The Ultimak gas tube rail will work but I am not very fond of it. After 2 mag dumps, my aimpoint was to hot to touch.

What did you use in the process just dura coat the hardener and reducer and thats it?
Army888 1 year ago
@Army888 as far as the finish formula is concerned, yes, that's it. Adding anything else would likely ruin the batch. I wouldn't advise adding anything that is not recommended by Duracoat. The most important thing is surface preparation. The rifle needs to be thoroughly degreased. There can be absolutely NO oils whatsoever on the surface, and that includes the oils from your hands from handling it.
boricuaDV 1 year ago
@Army888 I used brake cleaner for the initial cleaning, then I baked the receiver in the oven at 300 degrees to cook off any remaining oils. After that, I doused the barreled receiver with Denatured Alcohol, while only handling the barreled receiver with gloves. We then strung up the barreled receiver and gave it another bath with the denatured alcohol before spraying the finish.
boricuaDV 1 year ago
Is dura coat really that confusing to use?
Army888 1 year ago
I don't believe anyone said it was "confusing" but if you don't do the proper pre-work to the surface or if you screw up your ratio of duracoat to hardener, your finish will flake off or peel faster than you can say "AK47."

How did you cut off the tang? How did you get the phantom suppressor on? My AK (MAADI) has no threading on the end of the barrel. Could you give me any info. Thanks
kiddzero2177 1 year ago
@kiddzero2177 From what i have read you would have to take your weapon to a gun smith or some other metal shop. Have them thread the end of the barrel and then you would attach a suppressor. Or You could remove your flash hider and replace it with a QD suppressor flash hider and attach it that way. Again this is just what I have been told and have read. Not sure how true all if any of it is.

rize570 1 year ago
i think free float means that it doesn't touch the rest of the barrel. the barrel cannot just float in mid air. it has the have some thing hold it hence the trunnion. if it is not touching the foreward areas of the barrel it is close enough to a freefloat system. cool rifle though

its nice what you've done 2 it.
HeartAE86 2 years ago
Heavy? I don't really think so at all, but I hit the gym at least 3x a week. Heavy to me is my full sized M1A with scope and bipod. Now THAT'S heavy! :) Thanks for the insight.
