First off, you can eat bear it is actually very good. And i don't agree with taking an animal that has kids with it... Its people like you who have no idea what hunting is actually good for, if there was no hunting the bear population would grow massive and they would be roaming every where eventually then you people would start to yell because they are in your back yard. Then the govt. would hire sharp shooters to kill them anyways. Or they would starve to death eventually due to limited food.

American Indians used the rendered fat to fry bread and ate the meat. In modern times most people are using it for burger and sausage. Its really very good for sausage because of the high fat levels.
You obviously have no clue about what hunting at close range does to the respiratory system especially when dealing with larger animals. Even the smaller anlimals like deer I take when bow hunting makes your knees wobble when they come in range. At least a hunter looks his dinner in the face rather than going to the grocery store and eating the hormone injected chicken and beef.
