  • I love this band.

  • jesus walks

  • @nakedspaniard god show me the way because the devils tryna bring me down

  • hey zeus? ewe loves this!

  • jeebus was probly a gent..dout he wouldv'e liked christianity much tho

  • I seriously doubt Wayne Coyne believes in Jesus anymore than he believes in the robots from Yoshimi. Just because he evokes religion in his writing doesn't mean he buys into it personally.

  • This always reminds me of an old Pink Floyd video.

  • This is the first Lips cd I bought.

Always one of my top faves.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • this is for my Assembly of God neighbours who think I am jezebel! but wait! of I am going to be satan - I want to be something more colourful like one of the horsen=men of the apocalypse! See the horses out there >>>>> that's where I keep them tied up, out side on the lawn, Boo!

  • fuck jesus and his big stupid jew nose ;)

  • @54321nicolaskurtf You sound like you're all of about 13 yrs of age. Does your mommy know you on here blaspheming Jesus. For the record, I don't make spelling errors. Peace out baby !

  • @TnACaddo fuck jesus and his big stupid jew nose ;)

  • corners*

  • Who cares about the relgious aspect (positive or negative). It's a great song. This is the one of the best Flaming Lips albums, I just wish they didn't attach Jesus and religion to most of the songs. Religion and politics just make the retarded come out of their little coners.

  • the whole album, "In a priest driven ambulance (with silver sunshine stares)" was based on wayne coyne's fascination with religion. thus, that's why you see and hear this song along with the other songs from the album that deal with religion.

  • GOD always chose the non perfect ones. Anybody who says the Bible is a book of Super Heroes, they prove to be wrong. GOD likes REAL people with REAL issues that understand , love, and forgive other people with similar issues.. not perfect pharisees that look down on people. I'd say The Flamming Lips are REAL people that JESUS loves :)

    Mark 2:17

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

  • @hootyhaha who are the flamming lips?

  • @54321nicolaskurtf - I suppose next you're going to say that you've never heard of "Flaming Lips Alley" ? Where have you been? Walk towards the light...or the big bunny rabbit !

  • @TnACaddo are u fucking stupid i was kidding i was making fun of your spelling error idiot and by the way FUCK JESUS CHRIST even if he was really god why wouldnt he give some love to some starving african children

  • @54321nicolaskurtf jesus is real man he just hates niggers thats all

  • @kenny8331 touche

  • i got this cd last night at a 2nd hand music/books store whooooo!

  • Now that you found another key, what are you going to play?

baby you're a rich man, baby you're a rich man, baby you're a rich man too!

  • I love the care free sound of their earlier stuff. So sloppy and fun.

  • this music is awesome

  • one of my all time favorites.

  • Don't like this song in particular... but damn, that is an AWESOME song title!

  • I like the flamming lips and haven't listened to them since my middle school days but I came across this song( while searching for some appropiate but worth a listen Christian based music) on the bored again Christian pod cast. Thanks Pete!

  • hahahah!

  • this is the first time I've heard this, and it sounds so much like my favourite band Tripping Daisy. Also total 90's band. I'm truly digging this!

  • this is the weirdest song ever.. I mean that in the best of ways

  • i like vaseline better than this!

  • emoindiekickermetalheadjazzbeatpunkrockpophiphopfolkbluegrassrapoldtimejugbandhippie...hooray for Our Side!

Anyway, I like the newer stuff by the Lips, but I love the stuff off of their middle albums: Clouds Taste Metallic, Priest Driven Ambulance, Transmissions, Hit to Death. Of course, when Soft Bulletin came out my mind was blown.--Quit arguing about music and go Play some.

  • live, because it does tickle chaos constantly"

  • old stuff is great first 3 albums above all more recent albums too pop nothing special

  • this is outta sync

  • Says the 33 year-old who just uploaded a picture of his stupid fucking parrot.

  • Be nice, you two.

  • @fauxpat I picked this two disc set early this spring, the first disc was excelent the other idid not care for.Got it at a place called the exchange in Monroeville, PA

  • @ fauxpat Ifound the same one at the exchange in Monroeville,PA. Disc one I liked the other not so much.

  • I wanna live by the beach too grrr

  • This is the best youtube conversation i have ever seen

  • im huge!

  • Wayne isn't a great vocalist in the traditional sense. But to me, he IS great because there's a lot of emotion behind it and that's what matters most. Plus, it's original.

  • @ssiknick83 Original the most! 100% agree

  • To add my part to this argument, i agree to an extent with jerdna3, indie was initially used to refer to artists on independent labels, so it could cover any number of genres. However, over time indie has been used a little overly to descirbe any band that has that kind of college rock sound, or anything that is alternative. It really depends on your own take, music is music, but genre identification is a useful way to help you find music that may be similar to what you like :)

  • treasure island!

  • GOT OKC TICKETS!!!!!!

  • who is OKC?

  • Dr. Oklahoma City

  • flaming lips are playing in oklahoma city(OKC) and i got tickets

  • Cool. I'm new to the Indie scene. I only started listening to it for about 5 to 6 days now. I really like it, but I don't know that much about it. So, if I sound kind of dumb with this stuff, you know why. :)

    Have fun

  • One thing I don't understand is what exactly Indie is. I know it is Independent music. Or rather not mainstream music, but I don't understand about signing onto major labels (like modest mouse did). Do they stop being Indie then?

Also, what do Indie people do at concerts? I know in rock/metal they scream as loud as they can, and in metal they headbang.

One more question: what is up with the whole emo vs indie thing?

Sorry for taking so much space on the comment board, but I'm confused,

  • Its understandable you question it, but i'd say the best explanation of indie is: Indie is when you someone are doing something that has not been found before, or has been washed away by the pop-culture. The kills are for example still pretty indie, though they have much bigger rep, and label contracts. Indie is kind of a two way thing, cause you can play ordinary pop or rock with a small fan base, and be indie, or you can play unic music with a big fanbase. Its up for you to decide, i guess.

  • For me its a pureley functional definition. An indie artist is signed to an independant label. Once they are signed to a major label they are no longer indie. Indie is not a genre, its a record label classification. It shouldnt imply a specific sound/attitude/behaviour. You have indie metal bands as well. (I was not aware of an emo, indie conflict but that just sounds like a retarded argument to particiapate in)

  • I agree on the emo/indie conflict sounding dumb to participate in, however I have to argue against the Indie not being a genre. At first, it probably wasn't a genre, but somehow evolved into one. I didn't have any indie kids at my high school (I was in a small town in Montana), but if you google it, there are lots of things about Indie kids. So, at this point it is a genre, and people who like Indie music do still consider Modest Mouse to be Indie, despite them signing to a major label.

  • (cont.)

Music, and other entertainment, survive through fans, they ultimately decide what the music is. The musicians create it, but if it doesn't sell or get a fanbase, then they won't be able to continue creating there music.

As for the genre end, the people that attend the show may eventually form a genre. While I value your input and definition, I do not agree with it, for at this point, Indie is a genre.

  • I guess one thing about 'indie' and concerts, is that you can't say that any one type of thing happens. the genre is a catch-all, and has a lot of variety in it. As far as what happens at a Flaming Lips concert, it is unlike any other show, sort-of. There's lots of dancing, singing, screaming etc., but it's all super-positive and friendly. the show itself is like a carnival, very interactive. check some lips live videos. Better yet, if you ever can, go to a show, up close, w/ a costume!

  • "Indie" is just a shortened way of saying "independent," referring to a band that is signed to a smaller label. However, "indie" also refers to music that doesn't really fit in to the mainstream/radio rock sound. Technically a band like Modest Mouse that signs to a major label does stop being indie, yes. However, you could still use the term to describe their style of music because it doesn't exactly fit the mainstream rock/pop sound.

At concerts, indie people listen to music.

  • hahaha, i like that.... "indie people listen to music"

in that observation, you explained what is wrong with the majority of music today... call me lame, but i really like what coheed is doing with their music now... THAT being said, the retards that go to their concerts are too busy running into each other to pay attention to the magic on stage.

indie and new folk are the only genre's carrying the torch of legitimacy now, everyone else gives people a reason to photograph themselves drinking.

  • Maybe it's the lack of good drugs that has people drinking at concerts & in turn running around being loud & social ,instead of gettin into the music?Of course, short of blues artists, indie acts are about all any normal person can afford with ticket prices being so high !

  • I didn't know there was an emo vs. indie thing. That just sounds silly to me.

  • smart band

  • oh my god. if only i could ever see them live

  • Their OKC Freakout tickets just went on sale 10 minutes ago (:

  • make it happen man, it's the best live show ever.

  • just fucking go..we drove for hours to see them last year and it was worth it....

  • i did, it was like watching gods drink wine

  • I don't know why I love this band ....

  • i looked up sweet jesus

  • Comment removed

  • It's actually found on the companion set, "The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg."

  • this is off of fearless freaks i believe

  • I LUV OLD SCHOOL ! px=E

  • Yeah Wayne's voice isn't the greatest., especially now, but his lyrics are beautiful

  • man this song is amazing...love the flaming lips.

  • what album is this on? I've bought every album from Hit to Death in the Future Head on up except Transmissions from the Sattellite Heart.

  • In a Priest driven ambulance!

  • i should say "even on the new albums..." his breaking voice has always been a staple of the lips music

  • oh hell no wayne's voice can be pretty bad even on the albums

  • Wayne's gotten to be a better singer. I dig this though

  • haha..no..Wayne uses a pitch correction effects processor now...technology is what has gotten better

  • I keep expecting to hear "put a little love in your heart" and bill fucking murray will come pimping out with a scrooge hat on, damn, that pesky wayne

  • que asco

  • Back when the Flaming Lips use to be amazing

  • They still are, just a little less so.

  • gotta love the smiley face jacket

  • damn, I was born in 1990!

And they were awesome since then!

  • i think the voice in the background makes it cooler!

  • the song is cool but the deep robotic voice in the background ruins the song.

  • CLASSIC SONG

  • best kind!

  • wank!!

  • hahaha go watch christmas on mars then come back and delete your comment

  • i was 16 and i loved them !

  • this video was probably mastered on waynes vcr.

makes the video that much more great then other lips videos.

  • its too bad i was only 14 when they were at their peak - there are laws preventing what i would have otherwise done. probably.

  • its a reference to Led Zeppelin

  • dear hootyhaha, I regret to inform you that you have been sorely informed in that these songs do not glorify jesus and god, but rather are an internal commentary on what really exists in the world and how it should be judged. However, that doesn't really matter. While this meant one thing to The Flaming Lips, you will experience it in a completely different way and it will take it's own personal meaning to you and that's what really matters.

  • the verse sounds like The Beatles' "Baby You're A Rich Man"

  • dude yeah it does!!!!!

  • @jmaiullo and the chorus sounds like Head On by Pixies/Jesus&Mary Chain.

  • I feel that their best album is the one they feel the best about. However, I would have to say they reall y hit something like their peak with Preist Driven...

  • This band is great with music, but confusing with meaning. They have 2 songs glorifying JESUS and GOD.. then they have other songs that seem to express their liking for evil things.

  • God bless the "evil things"

  • whoever said that about 'hit to death...' is absolutely correct

  • Soft Bulletin

    In a Priest Driven Ambulance

    Clouds Taste Metallic

    Transmissions From a Satellite Heart

    Yoshimi

Top 5 Lips albums in my opinion

  • Hit to Death in the Future Head outshines all of them, one of my all time favorite albums.

  • I can't wait to see them at Lowlands in my country Holland!

  • an extrememly underated band

  • They aren't underrated at all...

  • can't wait untill mid august. I'm going to see them at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium for the 6th time in my life and it is only 6 miles from my place :)

  • I really dig the pitch-change, making the deep background voice "Shine on, Sweet Jesus." Similar to the Doo wop pitch shift in Talkin' 'Bout the Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues off of HTDITFH.

  • FLAMING LIPS USE NOISE FOR TOYS! :D

  • this song is awesome

  • if you don't love the f-lips it's because you don't understand them! Counting down the days to lovebox weekender!

  • These guys frustrate me- sometimes I'll totally dig 'em, then I'll find their music cheesy and stop listening for awhile, but then I come right back. I definitely call myself a fan 'cause that's a sign of a good band! :)

  • One of my favorite early Lips songs. I love every album these guys put out since '83.

  • same

  • ALRIGHT!!!!!! Terrific, grand, great ecstatic!~~~ Has anyone seen the "Fearless Freaks" DVD??

If so, can anyone tell me what the name of the song Wayne sings in the bathroom on the Extras DVD? he sings "Nobody told me there'd be days like these! strange days indeed!" It'd be Greatly appreciated Thanks

  • Its during the outtakes of 'Clouds Taste Metallic Sessions'. I can't find it anywhere.

  • "Nobody Told Me." It's originally by John Lennon.

  • I'm not sure. But I recognised it. I know it's probably not Flaming Lips. But I recognised it, definately. I loved the Clouds Taste Metallic section :D

  • Nobody Told Me. John Lennon off of Milk & Honey

  • Wow, Dingus is in here! Very cool vid. Do you have the one for "Subconciously Screamin"?

  • SORRY!! i see no part of syd barret in this video!! im a fan of syd's work!! however because its experimental/ prog rock i cant link it whatsoever to syd's work, although he may have been an influence, this is the flaming lips!! like them for for waht they do!! whats up with people constantly comparing bands to other bands!

  • I think they were talking about wayne lookking similar to syd which I think he does in this video..

  • Oh My Gawd! Wayne IS Syd in this video! Any video from previous albums?

  • Love the Lips especially during this era.

  • Thanks for sharing this rare gem!

  • what if hes a peadophile?

  • Does anyone else see and hear a little of Syd Barrett?

  • fuck I think the lips are the next floyd.

  • yeh eckoin, I once saw them covering Barrett's "Lucifer Sam" at a gig in mid '90s

  • Comment removed

  • It's funny you should say that, because this video reminds me of the early pink floyd films like arnold layne.

  • haha your so right

  • Wayne looks so cool right there (especially his hair). He still looks cool now just in a more mature grown-up way though.

  • woh! where did yu find this?

     ive been searching forever

  • They will never be a shit band because they are the best at what they do!!!!

  • i've been searching for this vid for years, where'd you get it?! i love you forever now whoever you may be
