Sivaji had made Tamil cinema proud... and the dialogue "ungaladhaane nambanum vera yaarah namburadhu..? " seems apt in another angle. Looking at Tamil cinema point of view.... he says he has done his duty for his period and now its Kamals duty to take care of Tamil Cinema!

Alongside Sivaji the great,I think Kamal pulled off 1 of the best scenes of this movie. Both were at their best i have ever seen.Great actors and a freaking awesome movie!Sad that Mr Sivaji is no longer with us though.A natural when it comes to acting from the both of them.God bless them for giving us good movies like this!!!!

Everytime I watch this scene, tears would be popping out of my eyes. Shivaji sir was amazing, so natural and unbelievably good. Initially he was expressing his displeasure about his son's attitude, then requesting him to stay in a stubborn way by giving advices, later broken down and almost pleading to his son to stay. All these things in 5 minutes. Wow, is the word. Those who want to learn what is acting, watch this video! - Sir we miss you!!

I havent watched too many indian films, but this one I remember from the days I lived in india. Although the whole song dance thing is irritating at its best, this movie was one I remembered as being revolutionary to Films in India. I still assert that the regular bunch of junk produced in the south is unbearable to watch.

Great performance by two acting giants. More over great direction and concept. uniquely Indian. All the father asks the son is, along with the persuit of his dreams, to do some good to the place where you grew up and the people who loved you and contributed towards your growth. Both have their point of views and such an original movie. Nothing is overdone. The velour is portrayed so nicely, then lot of faction moveis came after its success with overdone dialogues and action sequences

Alongside Sivaji the great,I think Kamal pulled off 1 of the best scenes of this movie. Both were at their best i have ever seen.Great actors and a freaking awesome movie!Sad that Mr Sivaji is no longer with us though.A natural when it comes to acting from the both of them.God bless them for giving us good movies like this!!!!

I'm not a big Sivagi fan--but the man was brilliant in this film. Like AB in Sarkar; Sivagi gave this film an aura that cannot be replaced. What a voice!!!

Everytime I watch this scene, tears would be popping out of my eyes. Shivaji sir was amazing, so natural and unbelievably good. Initially he was expressing his displeasure about his son's attitude, then requesting him to stay in a stubborn way by giving advices, later broken down and almost pleading to his son to stay. All these things in 5 minutes. Wow, is the word. Those who want to learn what is acting, watch this video! - Sir we miss you!!

I havent watched too many indian films, but this one I remember from the days I lived in india. Although the whole song dance thing is irritating at its best, this movie was one I remembered as being revolutionary to Films in India. I still assert that the regular bunch of junk produced in the south is unbearable to watch.

Along with Nayakan, Devar magan will be remembered until this Galaxy exists. The best thing is Kamal and Isaignani are part of both these magnum opus. The sad thing is the Legendary director, Bharathan who directed Devar Magan is no more.

Great performance by two acting giants. More over great direction and concept. uniquely Indian. All the father asks the son is, along with the persuit of his dreams, to do some good to the place where you grew up and the people who loved you and contributed towards your growth. Both have their point of views and such an original movie. Nothing is overdone. The velour is portrayed so nicely, then lot of faction moveis came after its success with overdone dialogues and action sequences

He still lives in our hearts as that Father and Grandfather .. I liked only 3 movies by Sivaji where he doesn't need to act over the top .. this is one of them

If you compare this great scene with the hindi remake 'Virasat', we can see what a mockery Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri have done... Seriously, bollywood should never remake any of south classics.

@KayWildcat - Irrational comment. Actors of other state till date follow / imitate Sivaji's mannerism or style only. Sivaji is the only actor till date to have won the Best Actor in Asia-Afro Film Awards, 1960. He is the only Indian personality as an actor apart from Pandit Nehru, who was given the honorory 1 DAY MAYOR for the City of CAIRO and was presented with the Golden Key of Cairo besides John Kennedy's guest for week. All such recognitions have come only for his performance. So..Relax !

Yes, everyone has the right to share their opinion, ecspecially on the performances of actors. ANYONE can talk about Sivaji Ganesan as an actor. Now, I think he is a brilliant actor and there are films where his acting delves into a whole other world, but I stand my opinion in saying that he does seem to overract and treat emotions as being a little too artificial.
