  • just 1ne is "angela gheorghiu..."

  • She melts me.

  • Mr.bean me llevo aquí,mas raro imposible.

  • fantastic as always. Great diva- love her

  • After Maria Callas; The best "O Mio Babbino Caro" among all the greatest singers to my opinion! Such musicianship! Bravissima to Angela Gheorghiu!

  • Nice , One of my favorate singer in classic !

    beautiful voice...

  • Despues de Maria Callas. Esta es la mejor interpretacion que escuche de esta obra.

  • wowowowiwow

  • It is Puccini most beloved aria !

  • She's my favorite voice for this aria. I wish there was a recording of her for every opera aria.

  • Mr Beans movie, on Holidays actually brought me here not Gta 3. and I know the aria as well...

  • I feel like such a tough guy, finally being able to listen to this and not cry.

  • What a snob audience not giving her a standing ovation for this performance... they should be ashamed royalty or not!!!

  • Your vid went viral on Latvia

  • it does NOT get better than this!! fabulous voice, Ms. Gheorghiu. the voice of angels!!

  • Rockstar sure picks the best songs for their games.

  • haha only GTA comments... are you idiots? oo cool GTA's song hahaha PENDEJOS!

  • geezuz, am I the only person from the 80's generation who didn't get here because of fucking Grand Theft Auto 3 ??? Please say it ain't so!!

  • No, you aren't. Well, I'm a bit younger but still, I'm enjoying it very much. These are the 3 minutes you shouldn't miss in life. It's impossible not to like this masterpiece, the voice of Angela Gheorghiu is utterly amazing!

  • @trickmastermonkey Nope, I got here after hearing an arrangement on a CD of Karen Donnelly (Principal trumpet of the Canadian National Arts Centre Orchestra) and Capital Brassworks. Kind of sad that a work from a great like Puccini is better known for its use in a video game. It's good in a way that the game is exposing people to it, but people should take the time to attempt to appreciate opera for what it is: an absolutely incredible art form with so much expression; the movie of its era.

  • @trickmastermonkey im from the 90 and didnt get here for GTA 3

  • @trickmastermonkey It ain't so.

  • @trickmastermonkey I came here because I like the song, but I can't hear it without thinking of the GTA 3 ad campaign. This song in the commercial was great.

  • @trickmastermonkey i also got here because i love the song, u're not the only one ;D

  • fuck when i drop my balls on here face does she makes the same noise?

  • @corsegerspwnd lmao omg

  • i heard from Mr Bean Holiday movie. lol

  • GTA 3 Rules

  • It's sad to me that more people hadn't heard of this aria before GTA. This is a very common aria. Sigh.... maybe I should switch from opera to hard rock or something....

  • @truvianni GTA 3 is a video game. This song can be heard in the game.

  • People got here because of GTA3... What is the world coming to?

  • @gothicgrowler It's becoming better. Thanks to GTA people now know this mastrepiece

  • @gothicgrowler excuse my asking but what is GTA3?

  • Pick up RPG shooting a plane in mission Ransom. The best memory in GTA III

  • I don't think I've ever heard a more beautiful version.

  • She is amazing!!!

  • if it wasnt for GTA3, this would have 0 views

  • @smithyvip

    :DDDD

    I laughed at your comment!

At least I bloody well hope you are joking... but looking at your profile i worry you are serious.

That's OK one day you will learn that the world existed before you entered it and many incredible feats were accomplished without your knowledge of them!

Well at least you came here, viewed it and commented!

  • @DucatiKozak what did i say?

  • @DucatiKozak what did i say that made u laugh

  • @smithyvip WTF

  • The end of this song always has me picturing a white banshee jumping over a bridge *cries*

  • ah great stuff indeed

  • Just Beautiful !

  • I have always loved this song and always had it in my head but i love rockstar for giving me the song name. beautiful.

  • GTA 3 10th Anniversary Edition

  • Дуже файно!

  • "Mr Beans Holiday" brought me here.... ?

  • Wow......what a voice.....she does the song total justice...

  • fantastycznie, słucham już czwarty raz i będę jeszcze raz

  • @karrbon naprawda jest fajna

  • Isnt she perfect??? YES!

  • I love the part in Mr Bean where he lip syncs to this song.

  • The thing i like about this version is that you can still hear the strings through her voice

  • I always cry within the first 10 seconds she is amazing...

  • Hermoso.

  • Loved the sound but it's a bit out of sync

  • Funny to see a song they wrote for Mr.Bean in a posh theatre!

  • @jimdivax Are you joking? This is an aria from opera Gianni Schicchi that premiered in 1918.

  • @jewelmarkess jimdivax certainly gave me a laugh!

  • @pucciniverdi777 In all fairness he may well be kidding.

  • @jewelmarkess somehow, I don't think so. After all, someone commented on one of Paul Potts's videos that Nessun Dorma was written especially for Paul Potts to sing on Britain's Got Talent. That person definitely meant it. On the other hand, you may be right.

  • @pucciniverdi777 Yes, and on one Pavarotti's video of Nessun Dorma someone asked "who is conducting? Puccini?"

  • @jewelmarkess hi, long time no hear from you well maybe Puccini was conducting from heaven or where ever great composers go once they have completed their great works

  • @truvianni Yes maybe this what was happening.

  • @jewelmarkess and that guy was right Puccini wrote it special for Pots. See what Puccini did was get in to a time machine and fast forward and heard Pot's voice and then went back to the past where he wrote it knowing that some day Pots would destroy it on some stupid show for people with big ambition but lttle of anything else.

  • @truvianni Yes... well said.

  • Oh my GOD. Her delicacy in this aria is absolutely... wow. Angela has long been a particular favorite soprano of mine, and this is just STUNNING. Her interpretation is mind-bogglingly beautiful.

  • Daaam... She just made my dikk hard! Beauty, Voice, Grace... I'm sold!!

  • I love it

  • oh my God, her voice is so amazing, the way she sings this is so touching

  • Sucha GODDESS!

  • I thought I saw Monica Belluci singing.. :-)

Beautiful face with a beautiful voice.

  • What the hell...Never knew the singer is Romanian:o

    Great talent right here!

  • Wow! This bitch can sing!

  • Another great talent from Romania! Beautiful song and beautiful singer.

  • beautiful lady with beautiful voice. what a woman!

  • The interpretation is so accurate, you can taste her grief singing this aria.

Romania has got tremendous talents and I don't think I'm wrong when saying that Angela Ghiorghiu goes next to the likes of Eugen Ionescu, Mircea Eliade, Constantin Brancusi, Sergiu Celibidache, etc.

  • Nice voice. Nice face. Nice figure. You can listen nice piano modern music on Youtube: Robert Rossi "Rain and you". Enjoy.

  • Lovely......she is serious when she sings about throwing herself off the Ponte Vecchio if dad won;t let her marry her loved one!

  • GTA 3!!

  • @MyLifeIsSh1t check the r* site now!

  • @MyLifeIsSh1t

    yesssssss gta!!!

  • @MyLifeIsSh1t You just gotta love Rockstar!

  • It's too bad that under the so call young tenor promotional she is forced, obliged to take these suckers with her on different opera stages of the world to sing with them and then all get lost with no succes. Its' a waste of time. She should do just what Ana Netrebko has done. Get the fuck out of Romania and take English citizenship as soon as you can. You are not their communist assets to do whatever they like it with you. Run girl, run! Leave all the MF bandits, gangsters alone and run!

  • Attraverso la sua voce che canta si sente la voce che parla.

Beyond her voice singing you can listen to her voice speaking. She is the one who manages to do this!

  • I'm a sucker for this piece. She sings it beautifully. Listening to someone with a more "operatic" take on this (Callas) doesn't make the piece more enjoyable. The opera and its arias should evoke an emotional response, this performance comes closer to that than most.

  • @tomcincinnatus1 Inva Mula sang this one in a very special emotional way too on Croatian television at a concert for maestro Vjekoslav Šutej, and that performance made me fall in love with this song. Angela Gheorghiu is the only one I could find on youtube that comes very close to that emocional response in me.

  • @tomcincinnatus1 Angela Gheorghiu is an opera singer, and her performance is just as operatic as any, so I am not sure what you mean by more operatic take. Of course, every interpretation is unique and every great voice is unique - Angela Gheorhiu is a lyric soprano while Callas was a dramatic (actually dramatic coloratura, but the latter part is not relevant). Also, Callas' strength is her interpretative ability not voice beauty. Many an opera singer has a more beautiful voice than Callas.

  • She looks divine.

  • lol mr bean?

  • I've watched a few performances of this aria on here and I think this is the best.

  • I think that Angela is absolutely brilliant and in complete breath control all the way through the aria..

  • @declantobin1 second to callas i think not much in it

  • Beautiful woman, beautiful voice and expression :))))

  • its awesome it makes me to be comfortable

  • This is such a beautiful song!<3

    I Love it!!

  • Beautiful rendition.

Just compared this with TeKanawa and Callas. My preference is for TeKanawa- who admittedly has a lighter voice than Angela. Angela has beautiful vowel formation, and TeKanawa has a couple odd places she broadens the sound. I feel that TeKanawa is just a little more musical (i.e. plays with the tempo- more emotional rubato) than Angela here, and gives and takes the dynamics within a note. AD= stunning sultry voice, but here drives the music forward more aggressively.

  • @TulsaWill : Re: Callas- listened to a 1954 & 1974 version on YouTube. Callas is the premiere operatic actress, but for my taste (advisory word), still like TeKanawa #1 (I did see her live about 5 months ago & I cried at this). If you listen critically (never had heard must Callas) Callas is maybe as free on top as Kiri, but Callas occasionally had a really annoying vowel formation that gets almost buzzy & nasal as well as broad. Due to Greek language background? AD: good at top,but not as fluid

  • It's a beautiful piece of music, sang beautifully, isn't it? There's no competition here x

  • Does this song make anyone else want to cry? :P

  • she is Romanian!! wow

  • Mister Bean's holiday!!!!!

  • i am in love with this music

  • goosebumps

  • Angela Gheorghius version of "O mio babbino caro" is nothing short of brilliance. Pitch perfect and excellently executed. The dislikes on this recording obviously know nothing about good music. If one of the detractors is reading this, perhaps they'd be so kind as to point out the flaws.

  • Comparing Angela with Jackie is not even funny, it's a disgrace.. The little one has voice , but she will never be at Angela's level. She can go to all the schools in the world and study music for the next 25 years, she will never come close to Angela 's senzational voice.

  • @wildmustang67 Of course you are right but then people who would think to compare are people who clearly know nothing about opera

  • Angela and Callas...nothing up this divas

  • All discussion should be about Angela here. This is her gig right now. And she is fabulous, no doubt. Fabulous.

As for lil Jackie Evancho....I'm her biggest fan. I'll leave it at that.

  • omg this is so good so much better than sarah brightman

  • @brightspark495 And so should it be, considering that Sarah Brightman is not an opera singer and Angela is one of the best ones ;-)

  • She is amazing and another amazing voice is Naomi MOntero here singing O mio babbino caro and Time to say goodbye she is a little girl but she sings like an Angel really amazing . Angela gherghiu is a diva

  • M. Bean X)

  • Angela: tu voz y tu belleza son las luces del cielo.

  • this is without one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard, and I mean just things in life in general, the music, the voice is simply monumental, took my breath away and I'm not even a big fan of opera

  • This makes me always think about mafia and eating spaghetti with family :D I like it tho.

  • what a voice. AMAZING! please listen to me singing this song x

  • There is a female honesty to this recitation of a famous aria that outstrips all others

  • Angela, te amo

  • Why have I never seen Angela in a Metropolitan Opera broadcast?

  • @born09061957 Because this Diva constantly is a "NO SHOW" that is why.

Have I provided you with the details you needed? I love her voice but not her antics.

    Barbara Todres/NYC

  • BRAVO

  • Beautifully sung but prefer Jackie Evancho's rendition.

  • @nightowl37 I like Jakie, too but if go to Wikipedia you're going to learn that she already lost her voice, and all DVD has been retracted from Target shelves. We have to give her time to grow up, rich the maturity. She also need to go to some school of music, probably Julliard and in 15-20 years we might have a soprano of Maria Callas caliber. Since then let's enjoy of Angela Gheorghiu performances. To me she's a gifted and educated soprano with a lot of experience on international stages!

  • @alexliliryan

Jackie Evancho did not lose her voice, she recently performed at the Symphony Hall of Atlanta on 08/5/11

Target stores are currently offering Its official: Target Deluxe edition on sale $9.99, Regular edition $7.99 starting Sunday 8/7

Jackie is currently ranked #15 on Billboard's top 200 and #1 on Billboards Classical. Why would Target Store remove Jackie CD's if it is outselling all classical artists?

I agree that Jackie should attend Julliard if she wants to be a opera singer

  • @alexliliryan I'm not a guy of stupid polemics but this's what I read about Jackie when I went to Wikipedia to know her better, around two months ago " Due to the growing up process her voice has been deteriorated an Target already started to withdraw her CD off the shelves. After you e-mailed me I went back to Wikipedia and there's nothing mentioned about such things. Not that I'm disappointed but from now on I will not trust this piece of junk and I wish best of luck to this girl. Cheers!

  • ¡Bravo!

  • CHE CLASSE CHE BRAVURA.... SENZA PAROLE.... D I V I N A !

  • Incredable voice! She can wake up Puccini from his grave.

  • The one i enjoy most is Mr. Bean playing it in his 'Mr. Bean's Holiday':XD

  • I like how the conductor makes her work her ass off... :)

  • Louise Fribo is much better.

  • @PenttiLinkola23 just listened and ... i don't think so. she lacks something that Angela just ... has!

  • @blahdiblah2010 My heart just beats faster when I listen to Louise Fribo sing the aria. =)

  • @PenttiLinkola23 fair doos lol :-p

  • I think she's got a stunning voice. If I could sound half as good as her I'd be a very happy little soprano! :o)

  • magical. she's mesmerizing!

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • When I listen to this for some reason it seems as if all the sadness is put right in front of me, yet I feel so peaceful...just passion I suppose

  • hehehehehhe!!! Mr.Bean FTW

  • incredible

  • omg is fantastic

    this is the tru music

    the voice of angels

  • MR.BEAN XD

  • OMG incredible

  • I LOVE YOU, ANGELA!

  • It's a shame she just loses pitch for a second at around 1:40

  • @Chris234ify sharp at 0:57

  • this is a great opera, short but very good yet this is the only aria most people have ever heard from the opera "Gianni Schichi"

  • @truvianni I know. This is my favorite opera because of the fast-paced and well-written plot, and the ingenious musical effects Puccini uses to give the characters subtext to their dialogue. But at least people know something from it.

  • @trdl23 Actually my name is Gianni I am a writer and I write about opera lot if you google my name last name "Truvianni, O Mio Babino Caro" you will find my article about this aria. Actually I love the end when Gianni Schichi ends up keeping most of the dead guys money

  • Not best ever version Georginia Tarasiuk ist best EVER

  • @arszenik1 No it wasn't...hers was so forced

  • @lachim371 im sorry i dont understend english im aus kazahstan

  • thumbs up if gta3 brought you here

  • This has been one of my all time favorite arias. I used to think Maria Callas' version was the be all end all, but now, I think Ms. Gherghiu's is the one I would be happy to listen to before I croak.

  • yeah gta 3 bitches!!!

  • i'm proud to be romainian

    we have so much talents

  • @007alexandru and well you should be proud and you definately do have a lot of great talents

  • beautiful voice! :) please watch my video of me singing this song at 14 years old :) thank youu x

  • her voice is incredible, and the music stunning....the camera angles, not so much.

  • Más que una diva una diosa. Esta mujer parece sacada de la mitología griega.

  • I've seen standing ovations for "talent" 1/1,000,000,000,000,000 this good. Those people should be on their feet in awe. What a spectacular performance, absolutely flawless.

  • LOVELY SONG!!!!!! I wonder what the lyrics mean?

  • I have heard this so many times yet still feel so much when I hear it
