I am not a social butterfly, so like The Count back in the 70's, I rarely have offline friends with which to talk to, especially since most of the people in the town I live in are either way older than me or younger than me, thus denying me companionship with people at my own age level.

The reason we do is because kids may be more perspective & smarter, but that doesn't mean that they're ready to handl life yet. I mean, they may learn swears on the playground & may learn about sex before being taught it via Sex Ed at age 12, but even after being taught, they're still kids & thus do not understand love until they're older, if they ever do.

That is, they're still immature & not able to actually face the hardships of life until they smarten up & act sensible. Being sensible & making smart decisions doesn't mean one can't cut loose every so often, it just means that they're more able to exercise self control over their actions & take responsibility when something goes wrong. It also doesn't mean one has to be a prude & give up all childlike wonder either. People can be reasonable & still keep their inner child, you know.

But it does NOT go too far either way, making the shows TOO infantile (Elmo's World & the recent overuse of CGI excepting) NOR making them TOO "adult" (like [adult swim], MadTV, SNL, et al).
