Why focus on France? I thought it was the UK and the USA that are having the real problems.

Uzibit, maybe because of two aspects:

1- the UK and France took the lead, approx. at the time of the Lehman brothers bankruptcy, being by far more interventionist than the US government

2- hearing others' perspective is always good, isn't it?

I really hope Lagarde and Sarkozy can deliver some hard-hitting liberalizing reforms before their term ends. France needs som long-term invigorating; free up labor markets, cut subsidies and price controls, make it easier to establish and close businesses. Reform is way overdue.
