  • Absolutely brilliant , I am also learning the whole Concerto, and this performance is breathtaking. Well done to all the performers.

  • I think the ending of this song is perfectly wonderful as is. Traditionally, when Grieg wrote this piece and when it was first performed, there was a lack of technology and the use of a microphone was not an option. I've heard several other professional versions of this piece, and the orchestra always seems to drown out the piano arpeggios and scalar runs at the end. It is the nature of the piece and how Grieg wrote it. Accept it people. It is beautiful as is.

  • Excellent pianist, wonderful performance. . I had not heard of him until this performance. It IS true that the orchestra tended to overshadow him throughout, expecially in the coda to the finale. Too much reverberation in this concert hall.

  • very elegant interpretation!!!! I loved it :-D 5***** and many greatings from Austria!

  • I'm about to enter my junior year in high school, and am hoping to take up a major in piano performance upon graduation. Before I graduate, I have decided that I will play at least one movement from this concerto with my local symphony.

To the performer and orchestra - an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking performance. I've never heard a concerto that held such emotion, as most concertos, in my opinion, are too overly technical, and lose the feeling music should have.

  • 08:13 - 08:18 : )

  • beautiful

  • I hope the day never comes that I watch this video and it doesn't make me smile. That would have to be a very dismal, horrible day indeed. That was a worthy performance. The heart of the pianist and orchestra together make it one of my favorites.

  • this is not hard unfortunately so have to disagree n agree with the argument carried by comments before

  • great !!!

  • This is the best performance of this piece i've seen on youtube so far...

  • i'm sorry if you can't see what i mean. english is not my language.of course i wasn't refering to the 3 dimensions! :)

sure it is a very difficult piece, i know because i played it myself, and this is a very nice interpretation but i'm talking about really small details.

  • I think this is one of the easiest and playable concertos ever written, which is why so many people play it in college. But it is such beautiful music.

  • haha "people play it in college"

  • you idiot it's certainly one of the hardest

  • Of course you're right! How silly of me. It's indeed much harder than those trite ones such as the Rachmaninoff concerti, the Schumann concerto, the Chopin concerti and of course the Brahms in D-minor.

  • you don't play piano i'm sure of it

  • I do.

  • this is so beautiful, i played the second piano part at a recital, it was great fun ^^

  • Great! That's really one of the best interpetations I've heard so far ;)

  • This pianist did an excellent rendition of the concerto. I have recordings from Artur Rubinstein, Phillippe Entremont, Steven Bishop, and the great Claudio Aarau. Mr. Mazurkiewicz is one of the best I've heard, especially a for live performance. Bravo!

  • I just happened on this obscure pianist and I must say he did an EXCELLENT, SUPERB, BEAUTIFUL job that can hold up when compared to the most famous professionals. His octaves are extremely accurate and brilliant... and that's not easy on this piece which I have played.

  • This is definitely the perfect performance/interpretation for me too.

I've been waiting for this for SO many years! Thank you Pawel.

  • muy bueno!!! so good!!!

  • best performance i've ever heard

  • Need proof that Grieg was influenced by Tschaikovsky?

    three simple notes...1:10

  • @almostlasse123 Could have been the other way around. Grieg wrote his Piano Con. in 1868 long before he heard of Tchakovsky's music. Incidentally, they both met in 1888 and liked each other personally and professionally.

  • OMG This is mighty stuff!

  • bravo! incredible! i've to agree though that the piano should've had a mic. the passages were muted by the orchestra near the ending.

  • i think the pianist is a little flat...

i really like cziffra playing this concerto.

  • i dont see how the "pianist" can be "flat" its to "my" understanding that you mean the piano? because the pianist looks completely real and 3 dimensional dont you think?

  • Argh flat clarinet in the flute solo! Just that one moment that it wasn't quite right, but otherwise an amazing performance. I'm playing tomorrow (1st clarinet o.O) so here's to hoping! Our pianist is veeery dramatic and prone to rubato - sounds great but is a total bitch for couning.

  • definitely one of my favorite interpretations. the tension is sick

  • I like this pianist. No to much rush...

  • Good performance, but I wish there could have been a mic near or in the piano, because the orchestra drowns the piano in the fortissimo sections.

Overall a good performance of one of my favorite Piano Concertos.

  • great performance. I played it myself (see the videos). really, a great performance of you AND also the orchestra.

  • me too..

  • yo lo escuche la primera vez un poco mas lento. Lo prefiero asi.

    Mi parte favorita es: 02:45 - 05:30

  • It's one of my favourite music pieces!

  • Müthiş!

  • Thoughtful and powerful. I liked it. Great orchestra, too. The only other recording I have is the remade Ignaz Friedman CD.
