Lanois' production is awesome, but to say he "co-wrote a lot of the songs" is crap. He wrote exactly one song on this album (The Maker) and co-wrote none. Willie wrote every other song except one.

@panr317 None taken, there are a lot of cheap shots taken on around here so I thought I'd clear things up. Lanois' sound on the Maker with his Tele is killer. I was just playing through a '87 Marshall Silver Jubilee half stack trying to replicate it...getting close :-)

Willie sings in a kinda way that few others do, kinda slower. But he is probely one of the best singer in duets. Emmely is great also

I like Willie's music very much and my truck radio stays tuned to 'Willie's Place', but this one of his songs doesn't fit. Especially the beat and Emmy Lou Harris. I neve could understand her singing. Now Perry Como did and unbelievable job on this song back in the 60's and I still think it's the best version ever.
