@SuperWaking word of advice, show up 15 min early at all times, in the right uniform with pen and paper id card and dog tags... dont talk back just bite your tongue and do work, pay attention to training and dont fall asleep. your training once you get to your duty station after basic will be completely different. dont show up smelling like alcohol and work hard... if you do the right thing all the time you cant be wrong and you can make your e5 in 3 years. just make sure to rack up them points

But rangers is very hard and infantry isn't that much interesting (for some reason there are now less than 40.000 infantry soldiers actually in the US Army). question...might be dumb...but w/e...as a scout, what's your job when you're not physically deployed on a mission...in other words...If I was stationed in Georgia as a scout...If/when I'm not deployed to Afghan, do I train?...or is there a different "job" I'd full-fill on base in GA?

@25Milimeter Obviously you know nothing of how the U.S. Army works...this due to the fact that 1) Youve never been in it or 2) Yore a no good fuckin POG. In a light Infantry battalion there are Line companies and there is one heavy weapons company. Heavy weapons uses 50 cal, 240B, M-19, and ITAS. In a mechanized Infantry unit they ride Bradlys, and Strykers. There is also a Recon unit in the battalion. These guys are snipers and can be compared to Marine force recon. Cav scouts are just POGS

I go to MEPS this Monday= ASVAB Tuesday= physical and oath. Have my 19D position saved. Pissed though I'm not gonna be deployed to BMT until January which fucking sucks. At least I'll get alot of PT with my recruiters until that time. Fort Knox January 2011 HOOAHHH!!
@MattC903 buddy the physical is not the day after. i took my asvab oct 25 and im still waiting to take the physical and then get sworn in. its going o take time cause they have to do a backround check on you to even see if you are capable to qualify. meaning you can not be a felon trust me its more then a few day process this is not no boy scouts

@choas1211 dude no way possible this is how the process goes 1) talk to the recruiter 2)schedule your asvab take the practice test. 3) do paper work allowing you to take the asvab then take the asvab 4)if you pass the asvab they have to do a FBI background check to see if you qualify due to your criminal record(if you have one) no matter what they do a check 5) a 72 hr= 3day wait to take a physical then sign the contract

Criminal background checks do not take more than 3 days. They take your basic information and send it up to a dedicated office at the FBI who looks through a database to see whether or not you have committed any serious offenses. The courts are not involved at any point in this process. The check itself takes less than 5 minutes. I returned to the Army yesterday after a 1.5 year hiatus and took the physical and background check in a grand total of 12 hours.

@25Milimeter Obviously you know nothing of how the U.S. Army works...this due to the fact that 1) Youve never been in it or 2) Yore a no good fuckin POG. In a light Infantry battalion there are Line companies and there is one heavy weapons company. Heavy weapons uses 50 cal, 240B, M-19, and ITAS. In a mechanized Infantry unit they ride Bradlys, and Strykers. There is also a Recon unit in the battalion. These guys are snipers and can be compared to Marine force recon. Cav scouts are just POGS

I go to MEPS this Monday= ASVAB Tuesday= physical and oath. Have my 19D position saved. Pissed though I'm not gonna be deployed to BMT until January which fucking sucks. At least I'll get alot of PT with my recruiters until that time. Fort Knox January 2011 HOOAHHH!!

@MattC903 buddy the physical is not the day after. i took my asvab oct 25 and im still waiting to take the physical and then get sworn in. its going o take time cause they have to do a backround check on you to even see if you are capable to qualify. meaning you can not be a felon trust me its more then a few day process this is not no boy scouts

@choas1211 dude no way possible this is how the process goes 1) talk to the recruiter 2)schedule your asvab take the practice test. 3) do paper work allowing you to take the asvab then take the asvab 4)if you pass the asvab they have to do a FBI background check to see if you qualify due to your criminal record(if you have one) no matter what they do a check 5) a 72 hr= 3day wait to take a physical then sign the contract

Criminal background checks do not take more than 3 days. They take your basic information and send it up to a dedicated office at the FBI who looks through a database to see whether or not you have committed any serious offenses. The courts are not involved at any point in this process. The check itself takes less than 5 minutes. I returned to the Army yesterday after a 1.5 year hiatus and took the physical and background check in a grand total of 12 hours.
