  • head butt !!!! their is no headbutt in mantis !! lol

  • Its traditional Mantis and good mantis being display at that. The teacher in the clip is demonstrating so good mantis combat tactics in my opinion. A cat have to be blind not to see that or not fought in their life with their art. I love to hook up with these Russia cats if I ever go out there, I like the way they train, no dancing like most traditional Mantis kung fu cats. LOL

  • does open hand techniques only involve strikes or other stuff? like for example? im curious :D

  • people that say this isn't TangLang are probably raised on that wushu bullshit. TangLang will look really thuggish because it kinda is. It's one of the most effective styles to come from China

  • Yes, as a teacher of Mantis Kung Fu, with roughly 40 years of martial arts training, I can affirm this is authentic Mantis.

  • This is most definitely traditional mantis.

It's more alive and true to the spirit of Mei Hua Tang Lang than most systems out there claims.

  • It doesn't matter if it's triditional or modern, because there is no such thing; the point is those moves wont work... Their teacher didn't teach them anything.

lol Meihua? wheres the Meihua footwork?

and all mantis kicks have follow up moves...

  • WTF ?! Im doing Kungfu tanglang style since 1996 and i have never seen an tanglang open hands like this man.

  • The only difference between Traditional or "New stuff" are the training methods. Everything else is different styles.

One cannot judge "kung fu" or "traditional" or "new" with sparring videos. Especially when the sparring video does not include the whole body, namely the foot.

The other videos by Mr. Babin shows that he is using traditonal methods to train. Therefore, he is practicing "Traditonally".

  • What cats don't seem to understand is you train the body in traditional"kung fu methods to develop power. But when you fight and you your art you fight formless, in other words one don't need to adhere to the established patterns of practice amd rules! When in combat any thing can happan, so it always best to be formless.

  • I just think that it's not as traditional as it could get. There's nothing wrong with it, but it looks almost more towards self-defense kind of stuff. I meant no disrespect :].

  • Sure it is. Maybe not the best way to use your Kung Fu, but none the less Kung Fu.

  • Guys, you may say whatever you want, but the thing is that what you see is traditional kungfu. Yuri Babin is the first disciple of Master Ilya Profatilov, disciple and adopted son of Ma Hanqing. Master Ilya Profatilov is carrier of the following tanglang traditions - Grand Ultimate Plum Blossom Praying Mantis (Taiji Meihua Tanglang Quan), Six Harmonies Praying Mantis Boxing (Liuhe Tanglang Quan) and Grand Ultimate Praying Mantis Boxing (Taiji Tanglang Quan. )

  • Aye. More like basic self-defense instead.

  • not hardly. basic self defense would be greco roman clinch, maybe some muay thai ties with knees, a takedown, headlock escape, some boxing defense...

  • not tanglang. not kung fu.
