Take Algebra? Why? I'll never use it in real life!

what you just explained is something we were taught in most science classes ,that had absolutely nothing to do with algebra what so ever the only thing I could possibly use algebra for would be engineering or architect, I have no plans to pursue a life in those fields ,I plan to get a degree in music film and business and possibly economics and philosophy ,the only argument I got for algebra is you need it for collage, ok then what? Im 21 and have algebra standing in the way of my dreams

he hasn,t said a word about algebra. maths has shown mehow to reckon the cost of 10 items at supermarket in my head, but not to understand how to bultiply add subtract or divide xyz in brackets to acb etc.question was "why algebra?

OK Jeff .. this is talking about Maths ,, not algebra.... I still dont understand why i had to learn it!! I get what your saying though about the whole maths :D 'Now If i can get my dalring 13 yr old to buy in to it!!!

Fantistic! My wife teaches Algebra, and I loved it in Junior High (OOPS! Middle School). I said the same thing in school, but when I started selling Vinyl siding, I realized I was using Algebra for equilateral triangles, for figuring the sq ft of gables! Thanks Jeffrey! Who knew, right?
