  • heheheeee i know him!!! he's , like, 12 now

  • 255 steps per minute = 8 bit resolution per minute. This kid is a microcontroller! :P

  • Amazing form but why is he wearing green spandex?

  • I don't know what you guys are talking about. You're supposed to lean forward slightly at the ankles while running. If you don't, it's nearly impossible not to heel strike.

  • EVERYBODY RUNS DIFFERENT,THERE IS NOT ONLY ONE WAY OF

RUNNINN THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS THIS KID FOUND HIS WAY AND I THINK

IS PRETTY GOOD AND HIS BODY LL GET USE TO IT,

FOR ALL THOSE THAT THINK THAT ARE EXPERTS I SAY IF YOU

REALLY KNEW ABOUT RUNNING YOU LL CONGRATULATE THE KID...

  • i could run 15 times faster when i was 9..but he is pretty god :D

  • @Cukac97 really?id like to see that.

  • His running technique is fabulous, especially for a 9 year old, but not quite as fabulous as those amazing metallic green pants! :)

  • when he's older he's gonna work a lot on his abs and back then he's forward leaning will be way.

  • Awesome form! Seriously he's a natural! And he has some long legs. Fix his arms though. He has to pump them more. It will likely lengthen his stride even more and increase his turnover speed as it lengthens, making him go even faster.

  • Please tell me no one is forcing him to do this...Solid form though!

  • He looks like he barely touches the ground! He's gliding!

  • His sprinting form is alright but he leans way too far forward in his regular running form, the first 10 seconds in the video. I really hope you're not teaching people to lean that far forward, it's not natural at all.

  • @drone713 I agree. Jur has a tendency to over-lean when running in an easy pace. The lean is very subtle. Too much lean (bending in the waist) will lead to feet hurrying (slamming) back to the ground (in front of the hips) to brake to forward movement to catch up with the too far and fast moving ahead body. It is still a weak point of his running and it has my concern. Good comment, thanks for sharing.

  • @drone713 I fully disagree. This kid has near perfect technique, which is remarkable seeing how he's wearing those terribly designed shoes. The biggest problem with his running is that is feet are flying up towards his butt (which is what many trainers incorrectly tell people to do), which is caused by the momentum generated by the heavy shoes.

  • I ran like this boy. But on longer distance not doing this, its harmful.max 2 km is good with this technique, hit the ground with outer front feet edge and blast trough track. Hips and nees must be in top shape

  • @AcustizSlave His pronounced landing on the lateral edge of his forefoot changed to almost neutral when switching to minimalistic shoes. His main distance at the moment is 1-2.5km.

  • long distacne is harder

  • That's one fast kid

  • Good form, bad color choice of tights.

  • @jokoyaka Bad, color of tights????? What are you talking about....It is FANTASTIC ;-).

  • nice pants

  • @thanasi1721 Thank you so much for the compliment. If you join "Haag atletiek" (in The Hague) you will be able to wear such nice green colored pants, as they are part of the club tenue ;-).

  • wtf he wearing

  • @sosigbon Mmmmmmmmm..........It looks like he's wearing green tights. Hope this answers your question......

  • would like to see more of this boy as he gets older. as you said, he is a natural talent. let's see what he can do in a few years

  • HOLY SHIT... this little guy is gonna be a beast when he grows up :P

    i can tell

  • Wow! I can tell just from seeing him running that short distance that he's going to be sooooooo fast. keep us up to date on this kid. Hope to see his name come up in a few years.

  • is he smiling??

  • This is a great example of the human form during a 'natural' running technique. The POSE method and Chi Running both have stated that young people demonstrate the natural manner in which we should all run i.e - nil heel strike during forward momentum. Great video mate.

  • good form but those shoes are two big.. he definitely got some good foot strike in there and great turn over for a 9 year old, im impressed

  • @davist2 Yes the shoes won't do him any good. Strangely enough this kind of shoe is what running shops tell parents to be good shoes for their kids. He switched to minimalistic shoes soon after this vid after explaining his parents about the benefits of less cushioned and stabilizing shoes. It did really feel good to him and it enabled him to optimize his landing to more neutral on the ball of the foot, instead of too pronounced on the lateral side of BOF (supinated)

  • Take off the shoes.

  • 255 steps per min... is tat when he's sprinting? cuz i don't think he can run for that speed for 1 whole min :P

  • @TimeForSpeed Sprinting yes.

  • arent u supposed 2 sprint on ur tip toes?

  • @TheSeanholland no you sprint on your mid fore foot which this kid kind of demonstrates.

  • good technique and all, but what yo mama got you wearin!

  • was this kid born in kenya?..

  • Good form over all but he has to much backdrag and he's not in controlling of his hands.

  • good natural mechanics in which any child has. just let the kid run and dont bombarred him with jargon. just run! we all have the natural ability from a very very early age- its bad advice which send things wrong

  • @marti18golfgolf Unfortunately lots of kid lose the ability to run naturally well very soon. Watch the vid; NK atletiek; Running technique fast kids ((8-13). Over 90% of these kids heel strike and they are the selected best athletes of my country.

I don't bombard the kid with jargon. I just keep an eye on his running technique to make sure he continues his running as fine as he does. Biggest adjustment made was his switch to run in more minimalistic shoes, which worked well on his landing ;-).

  • @marti18golfgolf I added the vid of the "Fast running kids" as a video message (see below).

  • @Thjeko happy to hear you've got him on minimalist shoes now... it looks like he is wearing BOOTS in this video, it's so much harder to run in big fat shoes

  • Very good style for a 400 m! That boy as talent!

  • WOW!!! it isnt perfect but extremely close...mayb u should teach your kid how to run barefoot and he will be a lot faster

  • too much kickback...

  • he runs unbalanced.. notice that his left knee always goes higher to the correct angle of 90 degrees. this should get corrected as using one stronger leg than another will slow him down and cause uneven wear on joints and muscle polarity

  • He looks skilled. Be careful though with the training at such a young age. Plenty of kids get burned out or hurt from starting to young. Take it slow and try to save the hard training until he is nearly grown. Good luck!

  • Great, now your boy will have no knees by the time he's 25.

  • @PowerHeal Why do you think so? He's not overdoing things in training and his technique is fine. I'm pretty confident the boy and his knees will be totally fine by the time he's 25 and after that as well :-).

  • @Thjeko I think he means you should take the shoes off, he doesn't seem to need them.

  • @Thjeko They will be fine, the knee thing is BS.

  • @PowerHeal And you think crashing on his heels will be doing him any favors less injurous? Gotta love the Internet; makes every sack of proteins with an opinion feel entitled to weigh in on every matter and issue as if they were an expert.

  • @PowerHeal No knees by the time he's 25? Have you heard of the term "athlete"? Not many have heard it. But some "athletes" in this world of ours have played sports that involve "running" since they could walk. I would highly suggest you try "running" one day. I know it looks like complete torture but I assure you, you will be OK at your old age of 25.

  • my friends sister was epic at running up until she got to about 15-16 years old. she ended up giving up due to inability to compete with people from africa

  • Kids are such excellent runners. They haven't forgotten that running is fun, nor have they had time to be reprogrammed by shoe companies.

  • whatup with the colored bright spandex?

  • @DARKSTAR256 The green tight and yellow shirt are the colors of his athletic club. Unfortunately, indeed terrible colors ) -;.

  • @Thjeko thats a bummer. he looks like a good runner, but im sorry to say, hes white. if he want to get somehwere with running, try distance. no offense on this comment, im just trying to help.

  • future sprinter right there

  • wow pretty cool wish i had the same technique lol

  • why are so many people hating. that kid is out there, looking healthy, great running form, and here y'all are trying to criticize a 9 year old and how to run.

  • im not hating on the kid, but that tequniqe is going to tire him out to fast

  • Wow, why all the hateful comments towards a 9 year old. What a bunch of pathetic internet troll idiots.

  • @SWohioFILMS I love the kid's talent but I think the comments are for those serious in learning the game.

  • There sure are a lot of angry or envious people here who are also assumedly older than the boy in the video. Perhaps if you all spent more time practicing in the time you take to insult others, you'd have an effortless technique like this too!

  • flawless stride. i wish i had a stride that nice.

  • this kid is just like me,both competitive, both great runners and swimmers..good for him

  • looking good!

  • Wierd Pants that kid is wearing

  • he has a problem

  • @svried11 Hi Simon, the problem is you, am I right? I checked your vids and I presume you are an ambitious runner. Wish you good luck and joy in your running career ;-).

  • @Thjeko thanks :-).

But his problem is that he is not black

  • @Thjeko thanks :-).

But his problem is that he is not black :-)

  • Born to runing :) Nice

  • what does he run on a 40 yard dash?

  • @comedylad He (at the age of 10) does 3.19 on 1km.

  • @Thjeko bullshit not 3.19 on a 40 yard

  • @Thjeko DUDE 3.19 THATS FASTER THEN USAIN BOLT DOING THE HUNDRED METER DASH MAN

  • @manrose11 Dude, me dude????? Better read my reply more carefully before you start getting annoyed and waste your time in fury. In the Netherlands we don't talk in yards, but I just looked it up and it is a 0,9144m. So 40 yard is 35,756 mtr. Well, I don't know what he's running on that distance. Why is this particular distance so important to you?

BTW....In the meanwhile Jurriaan (11 year now) runs the 1KM in 3.09.

  • woh jur dat is egt snel en zuupergoed kijk hoevaak die is bekeken!

  • This kid could be really really good, he's already got great form down which is key. He runs like African champions!

  • to much back kick

  • hes gonna get creamed by black kids

  • @Streetdisciple27 Nothing to be ashamed of ........... and not at all what's on his mind right now.

He's just a kid, running pretty well. He plays tennis too and also likes to swim. Competing on elite level in the future needs more than just talent to run well. We'lll see how his running develops (or not) in future. At this moment it's pleasure first ;-).

  • @Streetdisciple27 Not if he moves to distance running. There have been plenty of races where a white guy beat an African distance runner. This kid has perfect form. If he works on stamina he could be an elite distance runner someday.

  • Take off his shoes and watch miracles...

  • this is a very easy technique to learn, and it is nothing talent in that technique!

  • @sardiner9 I'm happy for you, enjoy it! It ain't easy for all though. On the contrary... Whatch the vid of "Running kids" (also on my channel) and see how they do. Far the majority is landing heel first.

  • This is not a running technique, it's a FLYING technique!

  • very very nice technique! Kind of looks like he needs a stronger stride, but overall he looks like a natural.

  • perfect

  • am i supposed to bring my heels up or shud the momentum of how fast im going pull it up?

  • @TheNick394; Hi Nick, read the comments on my "Running technique different paces (pose)" vid. In the comments below that vid, I answer some questions about the pull from Macro934. If it's still not clear to you let me know ;).

  • Wow great technique. I hope my technique eventually becomes this good.

  • Awsome, your running technique is awsome, perfect.

Impresionante, que bien que corre el chiquillo.
