One should look on a small bright side, i bet there are ancient discoveries to be made here, perhaps forgotten civilizations that roamed these flooded lands, perhaps...not a definite, but such rapid reclaimation of land in an area with thousands of years of history might be a rare chance to discover somewthing unexpected and new about or past after all the lake was slightly brine to begin with despite being fed by glacial waters ..... interesting hypothesis no?

That's Lake Sarykamysh, and it actually got flooded only after the Aral Sea was drained for irrigation. So the early maps are inaccurate.
