  • whoever said this was a blink song has no idea what theyre talking about. mark and tom covered the song.

  • This group was liked by Brian Wilson. Jan and Dean deserve to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • fantastic song....great artists....can remember this from whe I was 5 years old in New Zealand

  • That's a '57 not a Stingray

  • great cover of a blink 182 song

  • @thecosmoturkoshow Not sure if trolling or just stupid

  • @1990GreenDay2009 if you cant work that out yourself i have no hope for the rest of humanity

  • @thecosmoturkoshow Obviously, you don't know the "Not sure if" meme

  • @1990GreenDay2009 not sure if talking about the one with fry or something else

  • @thecosmoturkoshow Not sure if there is another one, or you're trying to confuse me

  • I have no idea how I ended up here, but glad I did! I got my first real stereo in 1975, when I was seven. It played 33s, 45s, 78s and 8-tracks with two built in speakers that were behind green velvet cloth and a plasic wood grained grill. My grandfather owned the local tavern (a town of 1000) and had a jukebox. He gave me three boxes of records to play! Hundreds of records still with the paper jacket. This song and England Swings (Roger Miller) were included. Plyed them to death! lol

  • For alot of us Born and raised in the 50's and 60's if we had only known then what we know now we never would have taken this music for granted. We had it every day and every lonely night. We listened and dreamed and never thought that it would someday be gone...Just like our cars, if only we could go back...I do believe that many of us would stay....Take our kids and our grandkids and just go back. IF ONLY

  • 1 person who dislikes this owns a foreign made Jaguar. American cars rock the world! So do Jan and Dean!

  • Too Bad the picture of the vette is a 1957 roadster, NOT a sting ray.

  • Saw them in concert in 1980 at Center Stage in Canton, MI just before I left for the Army at 17. Will never forget these guys! Love 'em.

  • @de3forever thank you for your service!!

  • lmao ...i see your dead mans curve and i raise you a e36 m3 with the bilstien race supsension

  • sounds exactly like the Beach Boys.rip off

  • @scm8487 The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean were all good friends . And besides , Brian

Wilosn gave J&D the song Surf City which went to #1 in 1963 ,

  • haha how the fuck did i end up here!?

  • epf1961, you are wrong. The Cobras are still out there. The problem is, they are worth so much money, you will never see a real one on the street.

  • The Vette in the pic is a '57, not a Sting Ray. The Sting Rays (C2) Corvettes were built from '63-'67, (called "mid years", because '63-67 fell smack in the middle of the '60s.) The XK-E didn't have the HP of the Vette, so it's unlikely it would have won a race, but it was also smaller/ lighter, so it may have had a chance ?? The true rival of the Vette in the '60s was the 427 Cobra. Cobras were faster, but they were low-production, limited and brief: They're long gone, but Corvettes remain!

  • My best friends and me all drive standards. LOVE this. Somebody started racing me the other night cuz they heard the engine rev while changing gears. XD

  • I love how the lyrics mention "Stang" pretty clearly, yet there's a C1 Corvette. He got the Jag right.

    Doh. Good song though.

  • Such a classic track. Brian Wilson really outdid himself on this one.

  • I love the Skeletor at the end. It reminds me of my younger days and why I am still here on the Earthship I haven't a clue.

  • Love this song and it's reality!!

  • by the way the car pulled up on the left in video

  • To me jan and dean will always be remembered i have been playing their songs since i was a kid and will til the day im gone.

  • @ohytr12 I was a kid when Jan and Dean first hit the charts and I been a fan ever since. I never get tired of then. Jan was always my favorite but Dean was cool too. Dean was one loyal TRUE friend to Jan and that speaks VOLUMES. Rock on Dean. RIP my sweet Jan

  • Blinks is better in my opinion

  • @heyDay23 Nah, original is best, then Nash The Slash!!

  • Ryan Dunn should have listened to this...

  • @SuperTruth77

Yes, he should have. Before crashing his car while driving at a 3-digit speed.

  • @SuperTruth77 your not even funny on that note

  • Comment removed

  • why cant i share this vid or embed the code

  • 'you shoulda heard the whining from my screaming machine' .

Now, that is one good line.

Now, who the hell is talking about cars anyway?

  • Yeah, so it's "no place to play." WALK OUT DEAD FROM DEAD MAN"S CURVE.....and watch your little cars!

  • we all had our dead mans curves

  • Didn't Jan Berry's accident occur at Sunset and Whittier Drive?

  • thanks, i'm goin side walk surfin

  • i love the blink 182's version

  • It doesn't matter if your driving a jag or stingray. It's hard to stay centered in any car, when you're racing another car, around an almost ninety-degree right turn. The song isn't about Jan's accident though. The song released in '63. It was '66 when he crashed his Sting Ray into a parked truck, right near dead man's curve, outside a house once owned by Roman Polanski.

  • 0:15

You had the Jag pull up on his left. :D

  • this was the best time to be growing up!

  • where's the rubber chicken?? =D

  • Love Jan and Dean. BTW, the car pictures were an XKE and a 57 vette, not a stingray, LOL.

  • I didn't forget them.

  • Search here on YouTube for " Jan & Dean Dead Man's Curve Movie " !

  • Oh yeah, sure. Blame it on the "curve". It doesn't take a wrench genius to figure out the Stingray can't corner worth a pound of dog food with it's tires that are skinnier than my lawnmower.

Corner in a '64 Stingray, you lose your car.

  • Damn right!

  • Those Jags are ugly, I think. I would take the Stingray Vette anyday.

  • I like the classic stereo in a 200 lb. cabinet! Does it have the detachable 125 lb speaker in a cabinet you can place on the other side of the room?

  • I liked your video, but the song is about a Jaguar and a Sting Ray, which started production in 1963, and the car you are showing in the video is the first year run, 1953-55. Ya gotta find a Sting Ray with six tail lights to fit the song. ;)

  • I have a 66 Sting Ray to cruise in every week. It is great, and I think of this song when I do drive it.

  • @fbenenati Awesome car! Do you have the coupe or the roadster? Which engine does yours have? The Sting Rays are my dream cars--I just wish they were in my price range!

  • @galoon It is the coupe, Nassau Blue in color, a Calif car with the smog pump functional - VERY RARE. It has the L79 engine package, aka 327 c.i./ 350 hp. It is an NCRS Top Flight car. I am very lucky to have it. Send your e-mail address to Drfredfly (at) cox.net, and I will send pic if you are interested.

  • Records? That's like the stone age isn't it?

  • @jinneemagic302 Yep, they're stone age and high maintenance, but the good thing about them is that you can read the liner notes on the album jacket without a magnifying glass. And if a record gets a skip or a scratch, it doesn't screw up the whole disc. But the great thing about CDs is that you can play 'em in the car!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! remember drag racing??????

  • Thats because California sucks Florida has no mountains or dead mans curves

  • @spedshift I don't think having no mountains is something to brag about. I'd go crazy living in an area with nothing but flat land.

  • The FIRST pairing of a Harp/Oboe in Rock Music...

You even hear the Vette going thru the gears at the first of the song...buy the use of the Obo...

Got to take our Girls to see them, and EVERYONE was supportive and Patient with the Concert! It ROCKED!

  • has anybody seen the biopic? i remember seeing it on tv in about 1980.

  • Too bad Jan decided to live this song for real.

  • I could never forget this!

  • @superfakek Anyone who knew sufer music knew Jan & Dean. I been listening to them since I was a kid along with the Beach Boys.

  • @superfakek jan and dean had a career too.the ironic part is jan berry took this to a whole different level.there's much to be debated but they all had some rough and wonderful childhoods.

  • Who said that dialogue before the last chorus? Jan, or Dean? Somebody let me know. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg The dialogue was spoken by Jan.

  • @DaveWollenberg Jan dose the speaking part. He never remembered anything of his own near fateal car accident, just what every one told him...what others pieced together.....but of the actual acident he never remember......maybe that was a good thing.

  • The IDEA of a Jaguar E type drag racing is funny as hell. It's not even close to what they were built for. Still a great song though.

  • @19hobbes I always thought so even as a 9 year old in 1964! My Dad was a Jag dealer and I knw the E pretty well. Should have been a Deuce Coupe.

  • i was so young but my dad had all the 8 track tapes..an i still have them im 40 dont look like it but when u r from hawaii...kits all good look iiked im younger..aloha

  • I like this cool song! I also like "Best Friend I Ever Had"!

  • thanks

  • West Virginia has plenty of dead man's curves. .

  • The days when racing had balls...

  • @WorkFromHome001

is that classic surfing song a fun or a sad tragic song?

  • @thefirefighter2011 When it came out is was one of the Surfer Bad Boy songs of it's

time, it made #28 in the top 100.

  • R.I.P. Lando Griffin

  • Epic!

  • great song, great memories. Thanks for sharing this with us. PS i had a record player just like that one. LOL

  • 'Suicideposter'- does that really warrant an e-mail?, you septic tosser: it's just an E-TYPE in England, where it was made. Go boil your lard arse head

  • Why pictures of of an E TYPE Jag?- this is NOT an XK; either way. any jag would leave a corvette for dead on a twisty road- American cars are shite!

  • @MrCBT1957

An E type is the same as an XKE, asshole.

  • did Brian Wilson produce this song?

  • @Desiree50 Nope--Jan Berry produced it. Brian Wilson was one of the writers, though.

  • @galoon Thank you for the info.I heard Brian in one of his interviews saying alot of nice things about Jan and Dean and how close they worked together.I thought that was so cool.Peace ,Des

  • @Desiree50 Oh, yes! There wasn't any rivalry between the two groups at all--I think I saw that interview, too. The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean were definitely two of the great '60s acts--and I really dig both of them. Happy New Year!

  • @galoon something tells me we are on the same page about music.Happy new year to you too.Peace Des

  • the 20th century gave us some of the best music.

  • why dos my like this song i don't

  • Does anyone have the version that appeared on the Teenage Tragedy Rhino records compilation? It is after the accident and Jan sounds different but it gives me goosebumps just BECAIUSE it is post accident. Excellent.

  • @AliceMarr i find that fascinating. i was surfin ebay and they have the rhino teenage tragedy. since im a 70's baby i love my records and i cant wait to purchase this so i can listen to the difference. once again, amazing.

  • LOVE IT

  • This is the original and it's great ....

  • Now I want a car with six tail lights.

  • Order of fries, dr. pepper. pumping nickles into the juke box.. playing Dead Man's Curve over & over again.. at the Texas Whip burger joint...........

  • This is the version we raced to on Paramont Blvd.

  • Top song!

  • We got the sameone, we had it since 66. you?

  • I played this song as 6 or 7 year old over and over. My older brother Bernie's album that I wasn't suppose to play. Helped me learn how to sing.

  • Very cool man! Thank you!

  • This is a great song by this fabulous duo. Thanks for posting these, they really do wonders for my outlook ...

  • Viniciustlc , No problem, I get a really kick out of making them.

  • Great song!

Thanks for all the videos man!

  • PeterMayer, I got one thick truck tire that's a little low on air,

makes her sit a little lopsided, but I don't care.

  • My older brother had this album and I played this as a 5 year old all the time and sang with it. Where's "Schlock Rod"?

  • The guitar was really out of tune on the intro to schlock rod .

  • 1942tj, Let It Rock !

  • SolidBlue22, I'm really glad you like the videos. Deadman's Curve came from a box of about fifty 45's I bought at a Goodwill for $40. There are tons of classics in the box. More to come !

  • @manhatin when jan crashed his vette under a flatbed truck in front of gene barrys sons house he was severly injured and in a coma all dreams of becomeing a medical doctor were shattered after a long recovery he was able to walk with a battery in his leg and ultimately had a comeback concert tour and a series of records and movies .

  • i enjoy your videos very much! ^_^ thank you for all this cool music :) i never owned a record player i wish i could have!

  • keep uploading man!
