What most is more important is, that the earths spin is slowing down. Eventually the earth will only be circling around the sun which will cause eternal winter on one side and desert on the other. The force wich is stopping earth's rotation is the moons gravity field. 2 billion years ago there where 750 days a year.

Its because the earth is slowly slowin down, its rotation is slowing therefore the gravitational pull is gettin weaker, hence the movment

Just saw yesterday a show on the moon on Dicovery channels and they stated the moon moves 3 inches from us each year not 3 cm.. and will be out of the earths orbit in about 50 billions years so there is nothing to worry about because the sun will burn out in 10 billion years. Don't be corrective but that what I saw if anyone saw the show and maybe I got it wrong I would Like to know.
