  • I really love how, even at the very end, when he knows he's going to die, Guido makes sure Joshua is innocent. While being marched to his death, he does that weird joking march to make his son laugh, because he knows he is watching. Such a good character, and such a sad (yet funny) story!

  • Is this movie over the course of a couple of days? or Months?

  • Sooooooooooooo sad :'(

  • they double the film in english with italian accent

  • The record player got me in tears ;_;

  • Reminds me of Shawshank Redemption, the way he plays the opera out on the camp.

  • He is a hero..

  • ill see you in venice, well start an anvil factory together.. haha

  • lol at 1:45 this movie is very funny in the beginning but it starts to be depressing but that was funny!

  • lol the italian version is wayy better - Guido sounds like borat - :D:D:D:D:D:D thumbs up if u agree!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • there are 3 worst creature in the world..

    1. there is monster the 2nd worst is demon and the worst of all is Hitler

  • So sad, music association.... ; (.........

  • what did the dad see around 2:25 ...

  • @dlandcrzy627

    A pile of dead bodies

  • @DownHillSk8rTV Yep, the matirix we build with our own hands "work will set U free"... ; (

  • the dad..i love him.he did so good keeping bad things from his son.and i love how the tank comes in at the end.

  • damn nazis and their ideology that why ya lost in WW2

    Hitlers dead for massacring millions

    What come around goes around

  • @newbra123 he sees the dead piles of people

  • can anybody tell me the music that plays at the beginning???pls...

  • @ABBARULESEARTH its from the play they saw together in the beginning of the movie

  • @ABBARULESEARTH It's Barcarolle by Offenbach

  • @gladitsmonday thanks a lot....

  • 2:14 Whats that?

  • @supernancy90210

Why would you make Stalins mother go through with abortion? He didn't kill millions of Jews or do anythig wrong to America, replace him and the Japanese leader.

  • @MoneyMaloney

Just you know, Stalin killed about twice as much people as Nazi Germany during his reign. Just because he helped with Hitler's defeat doesn't mean he was any better. And by the way, putting attack on Pearl Harbor on the same level as wiping out 6 million Jews seems a bit...inappropriate.

  • @ket68ify so your saying that Stalin killed almost 12 million people? i highly disagree with that. Stalin may have said to his men "if you turn around to run away from the battle i will shoot you" but that only toughened them, while some may have then that was there own fault, the soviets didnt kill nearly as much as the holocaust. and you say that stalin killed twice as many as all of Nazi Germany, you must be stupid.

  • @ket68ify oh and by the way the attack on Pearl Harbor can be on the same level as the death of 6 million jews because not only was it the first attack from another country on the US but it killed..... what 2,000 navymen, when we werent even involved in the war yet? yeah because pretty much a terrorist attack on the US cant be on the same level as 6 million people dying, your retarted.

  • @MoneyMaloney

Your attitude is pure ignorance. Ever heard of gulags, concentration camps in Siberia? Or perharps about intentional famines made by the Soviets in Ukraine? I guess not, 'cause it didn't bother Uncle Sam. And about Japan...I'm gonna take a wild stab and say you never heard about their concentration camps in Asia. But yeah, they attacked USA (who didn't care about these events at all) and that's what matters, right? World isn't limited to your homeland, you redneck.

  • this movie showed at the end when WWII ended the Nazis were cowards instead of facing justice and the final scenes the remaing guards flee and the Nazi party are the biggest pussies in the world and Hitler killed himself instead of being taken prisoner by the Soviet Union he took cowards way out

  • I'm watching this in high school right now.

    I am a sophomore.

    It's touching

My heart finally gave in and shattered when the boy says

"The other kids say it's shower time, but I don't want to take a shower"

  • wow what a sad, emotional movie!! These poor ppl had to go through all this torture and pain! They must have been SOOO scared!!! I can only imagine!!

  • we watched this in italian and i went hysterical..

  • why is he working in a restuarant and the kid actually eating?

  • @brancool88 cause that doctor guy said he needed him to serve for the ppl.. thats why he wasn't put into the gas chambers or w/e .. didn't you realise that there were no one left when he entered the cabin thingo ? he was the only one survived in the group - im guessing .. wait i donno fi thats correct.. but it made sense in my head LOL

  • what does he see ??

  • @Mrshommyxgirl its a pit of dead bodies......

  • I wish i could go back to the past and force the mothers of Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin to go through abortion

  • why it was dubbed with the italian accent??

  • @Zinefilika To keep the atmosphere, of course! Without Benigni dubbing it, it'd be nonsensical!

  • @checcogalli2 i know! but in spanish we dont used to do that!!

  • @Zinefilika Because the guy is Italian

  • That pile of bodies at 2:18 always freaked me out. It helped me understand the atrocities that happened to the Jews in WW2.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV WW2?

    xD

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV The look on Guido (Roberto Benigni)'s face in that shot can never be matched by any spoken words. I remember seeing this in the theatre, and I was told to cover my face at that shot. I never saw it until the DVD release - and I had the exact same look. This is a very powerful and underrated film if you ask me.

  • @SPeacock

i agree benigni is brilliant....amazing movie

  • grazie roberto...well done

  • so sweet what he does for his wife and kid he is such a strong man

  • @Fadedthings1

    yeah....he really loves them....such a heavy movie

  • This movie is good but sad, Hard to believe one race of people could treat another race so cruelly!

  • what was at 2:24? I couldn't see it very well.

  • @ahsjkc816 It a pile of naked dead bodies If I remember this correctly

  • TeamRedz, this was a disaster. the world wouldnt be over populated are you saying this was a good thing? All those innocent jewish people murdered, and your only worrying about the overpopulation of the world. What is wrong with you? the world would of been a better place if none of these wars happened.

  • what was that? what did he see at 2:28?

  • @star4galaxy

A pile of corpses and bones.

  • the movie makes it look like anyone could do anything not to get caught, werent the nazis always on like extremely high watch?

  • i was crying in class when i saw this movie. it made me sad when he said that he won to his mom. guido sacrificed his life for joshua to have a beautiful life

  • Kind of amazing how guido kept his son happy for a real tank which he did lol

  • wut was he spooked by at 2:15

  • @PedloProductions It was a giant mound of dead boddies. When you see it... it is horrible. The bodies are all skin and bones and mangled, piled up together by the hundreds....

  • @PedloProductions if you look closely you can see a pile of skeletons.

  • what is the song?

  • @denizistheboss Offenbach.

  • what's the name of the song that plays at the beginning of this part (part 11). Thank you....

  • @1966FLOWERCHILD

    The song is Offenbach.

  • 10,000,000 jewish people are slaughtered - all because of that fucking adolf hitler!

  • @Dennispokemon1 hey, if that didnt happen, the world will be over populated right now

  • @TeamRedz hey fuck you man!

  • @drummerchikk101 dont u know jewish people 4000 years ago or so slaughtered christian. not that i'm religonist. i'm nothing.i believe and not believe

  • @TeamRedz I dont understand you lol.

  • i dont think that were extermination camps in italy/poland was the slaughter house

  • This is my favorite movie scene of all time. Love it!

  • Mine too!

  • This movie really shows the reason why we live. The reason we live is to love and make love with others.

  • what is the music that he is playing for man its soo catchy :]

  • okay, the original movie in italian is wayy better .. english isnt that great !

  • @01HOTCHOCOLATECHOCO

it's the same movie? what's the difference if its in english!? jeez..

  • fuck the nazis!!!!!!

  • Guido is so inlove with Princepesa. I think that is what the movie is all about. LOVE. Life is all about LOVE that is why it is beautiful.

  • I bet you haven't see the whole movie... Am I right?

  • @adolfito34 my brother also said that dubbing it in english made it worse and original is obviously better. but its still really good in english, ive nevr seen original tho.

  • at least they dubbed it with an italian acsents, and german ones instead of an english one.

  • I perfectly agree with you. When an american movie is dubbed into italian, the accent isn't certainly american.

In my opinion they had to choose:

-either to keep the italian voices but with english subtitles

-or to dub into english (English of America, not this fake language, this weird accent).

However this italian accent is an exageration. I'm italian but when I speak in english, my accent is very similar to american english, not like this.

  • To make it sound Italian.

  • that's how americans think we speak english,,,

  • The guy's accent IS the italian guy speking in english. Rather Sheepish eh?

  • No its not. His english is not nearly as good. Go watch his oscar acceptance for the role.

  • He does speak like that. Sure, every once and a while he has a moment where he's inaudible (saw him at the oscars), but thats why your practise, no?

  • LOL AT 9:00! XD XD XDDDDDDD

  • a wonderful film, that shows the love a father has for his child, and the dangers he overcomes to protect his child, at what was a awful time, that is the beauty of this film and its story, that plays on our minds, and should not let us forget those times.

  • such a daring father..love him ..so sad he dies

  • ok this is the 2nd movie ( the part of the opera in the prison) that makes me cry...the 1st is the final scene of A.I.

  • stop telling us hwat's going to happen before it does!!!

  • :( I Cant Belve What Happend In The End To The Dad But It Was NIce What Happend To The Little Boy

  • why does everyone tell us what's going to happen before it does

  • I wish Hitler was alive...I would torture him over and over in extremely painful ways.

  • what a masterpiecee is this movie its soo fuckin beautiful i always criee with thiis first scene!!

  • what is the song in the beginning called?

  • barcarolle- jacques offenbach

  • i hate it when guido die T_T why? why?! must the good die yung T_T

  • guido a great father..and a saint

  • HILTLER AND MUSSOLINI.. FUCKIN KUNTS

  • dont forgot joseph stalin

  • @Rowl4nd Language, young man

  • @Rowl4nd mussolini wasnt a bad man, he didnt want to give up the italian jews, he was jus trying to appease hitler otherwise hitler would have invaded italy too and leveled all of beautiful italy and its trues and the vatican to the ground. In italy now we do not hate Mussolini he did not do anything wrong.

  • @Rowl4nd surtout hitler !

  • Thanks for the information, XBandCrazyx!!!! Greetings from Puerto Rico!!!!!

  • Hello, people!!!! Greetings from Puerto Rico!!!!!! I saw this movie when I was taking an Italian Basic course, at the University where I graduated from. I always will love this movie!!!! It's one of the best movies EVER filmed!!!!!! Just a question: Does anybody know which is the title of the opera song at the beginning of this video? Please somebody, let me know. Thanks!!!!

  • The song is called Barcarolle

  • The story in this movie is a streak of pure genious. The movie has it flaws when it comes to "historical correctness" and so on, but just the idea about a man making his son believe that the stay in a consentration camp is a game is such a marvelous. I think it is a fictional story though, but it is a good one.

  • At the 2:14 .. there a human beings mountain.. dead people in front of him..

  • OMG i thought everybody knew... "Jews" are not a race at all juedism is a religion and the nazis labled them as a race because they wanted to exterminate any that was "diffrent" as such... so actually hitler would kil ANYONE who was not part of the majority, to reduce cost of population I.E.) Homosexual, handicapped, mentally disable, jewish, this way in schools people would be taugth that these people were the problems of everydat life.

  • Actually Jew is a kinda race because if you dont have jewish ancestors you cant be Jewish so this lines up to having ancestors of israel

  • who says that if your ancestors arent jewish u cant be jewish?

or that if ur jewish or believe in judism your ancestors have to be jewish

  • the jewish dude lol lets start thinking

  • I KNOW, I HATE TO SAY IT BUT unfortunatley the holocaust was much worse than this-- people were starved until their bones stuck out, beaten and whipped, and only a small percent of jews in the camps were not killed immediately by gas chambers, ovens etc

let us never forget the monstrosity that has devastated our planet

  • the movie did sugarcoat the horrors of the holocaust just because you cant show all that to children but this movie is done so that its not so much to take in all in one movie. go to a holocaust museum cus they dont sugarcoat it at all. the worst wasnt even the starvation. it was the medical experiments. nazis performed medical experiments on the people in the camps, using them as lab rats. they injected them with medicene they didnt even know if it worked. and they were obsessed with twins

  • that is all bad, but the worst was that nazi used to throw babies up into the air and use them for machine gun practice

  • wow

    ive never heard that before

and i know a lot about the nazis did

  • yea.. im reading a book called Night and its a man speaking of his experiences in a concentration camp and thats one of the horrifying things he talked about

  • yeah im planning to read that book soon. its pretty famous

  • who's the author?

  • Eli Wiesel...I believe

  • Elie Wiesel.. he was the one that survived the camp and wrote about it about 10 years after.. he was only 15 at the time of the camp

  • I read that book for school a few years ago...very sad. Hard to believe all of that happened over only a year or so at Austwich. :(

  • Anyone know what the book is called?

    Thanks.

  • The book is "Night" by Ellie Weisel (I think I spelled the author's name wrong, but there you are) :) It's a very short book, but a really poignant read. It will tug at your hearstrings.

  • You got to be kidding me o.o

I read that in junior high school hahaha never made the connection. Thanks again :D

  • @monny287 I agree with you...I red that book in my English class when I was in HS..."Night" describes more deeply the horror in the concentration camps...

  • I read it in "Night" too :(

  • Could have been way worse but it's still pretty sad what happened to the father :(.
