I am not going to lie, this was the first movie I watched in 3D ever. I was blown away! Never expected it! This is the best movie in 3D I have seen so far, oh, and How to train your dragon. nothing after that has beaten this movies as far as 3D is concerned, and in my opinion. Resident Evil Afterlife trails close behind though. The message in Avatar, is crazy. Being in the military, I understood all of it had to do with the current events going on. I loved it.

@Krundaal oh I do agree the special effects were OK. But to me the 3d looked bad and glitchy at parts. But it could have been where I was sitting(far left near the middle). But even if avatars 3D had no glitches (which it might not) it is not the most spectacular 3D I have ever seen in my life, like it was hyped up to be. A few moths b4 I wached avatar I saw "a christmas carol" , and that movie had the best 3D I ever saw BY FAR. basicaly avatars special effecs were over rated.

Brilliant film, a nice tribute to films like Star Wars, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in The Sky, Princess Mononoke, Man Called Horse, Heavy Metal (Magazine and animated film), LightYears (aka Gandahar) and Dune. Who else thought Neytiri is the foxiest catgirl in animation?
Avatar plagiarizes Pocahontas. It's as if James Cameron just scribbled out the names of characters and places and replaced them with a sci-fi genre. It only was so amazing because of the technology it used, which was fascinating. But that's the only reason I liked it.
Yet another praise of Avatar...ugh. It was so unoriginal to me. Yes, the special effects was great, but the story line was generic, the acting mediocre. I just thought it was incredibly overrated.
@stephanieLDSgirl the storyline of starwars wasn't completely original either, but that doesn't make it bad. (if you want to know what I mean, check out the similarities between the Star wars empire and the Roman Republic of the 18th century)

While I get the 'format' of your short reviews, in this one you've ventured into evaluating aspects of this movie you normally don't - and turned out pretty shallow. I am not saying you should (or could) reach the awesomeness of Mr. Plinket's Avatar review, but if you stick to what you're best at - short review which tells me if I should bother watching a movie - you'll always have a faithful audience. @TheArases 1: many famous movies aren't entirely original. 2: The tree is sacred to them. Taking down that tree would be like the Navi 9/11. 3: The tree was the main point because it was the largest collection of unugdskjheatanium. 4: If it's personal, that can't really count as a legit reason. 5: You may be a bit right, but that's only in certain parts. Sam Worthington isn't exactly famous for showing emotion. 6: Star Wars didn't have that much comedy either. does that make it bad?

avatar has great special effects but the story line wasn't the best i've ever seen. i must be a prick, because i didn't knot up AT ALL. some people can get emotionally invested in movies, and others can't. i personally can't.
Good acting, GREAT graphics, decent story, 3D didn't do much, not bad as a whole but in NO WAY did it deserve to make 2.7 billion in the box office. It was all hype that got it as much, there are much better films out there compared to this. Overhyped and therefore made James Cameron a shitload of money on something that was okay.

@SlaveExplosion I tend to agree. It was so manipulative I was shocked - but I shouldn't have been. After all, I saw Titanic, which featured such cheap laughs and character development as, "Picasso... he'll never go anywhere." (see, you know he's a bad guy because he doesn't have the foresight to see that Picasso will be famous!) This movie had the same problem; the blue people were too perfect and the mining people were too evil. and the glowing stuff got corny.
@CreativeJamieCOM yeah I've never really liked James Cameron's fims, he's like a better Michael Bay. Aliens was a good film, but the actors just made the shoddy script work, in Avatar, there's just no soul in this film at all. The actors were fine, but nothing can make up for a boring story and I literally burst out laughing when they said it was called "unobtainium".
I probably watched that movie about 7 times when it first came out. Pretty much agree with you, though there were some dialogue that was kinda lame. The story has been already done many times before yes but this movie managed to capture you in a different and deeper level, which made me happy.
@DaneLostMKD well when I saw this movie I was going into thinking that it was going suck but as it went I got interested with it and basically every movie from the late 1990's to this date has that "story has already been told ya jackass" syndrome and tweeks a little bit but I feel it worked for this movie and Inception (which is a good if not better version of Matrix)

Movie is good and i'm not gonna jump on the band wagon and say "I don't like it cos a lot of people like it" i'm just not like that. The CGI was great something most films lack when they use it. I got three complaints: Its unoriginal (some examples are pochahuntus, dances with the wolves) its acting is not that great, its not even in my top 100 of all time so that is like a bad thing. people are saying this is the greatest film of all time. watch these which are 1 billion times as good. The Departed, the Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp fiction, Saving private Ryan, Goodfellas, the godfather. Please go see these films, they r so much better than avatar

Wait for a minute I thought you were being cynic... But you are serious? I mean, I saw Avatar too, and for the exception of the special effects, there was NOTHING spectacular or original about it. It's just like someone said, Pocahontas in space. The bad guy is extremely cliché (at least that provided me with a LOT of laughter), Jake Sully is just as ignorant and annoying as any shonen manga hero and his love story is highly predictable, just like the rest of the movie. I rolled my eyes a lot.

Yea I agree, honestly it was a futuristic version of pocahontas, infact, its a movie about a human, betraying his entire race for blue alien ass.... Seriously, I was hoping and even rooting for the humans to just wipe out the entire Navi race. Also the story and characters are not original, In fact, JC stole the ideas from two animes; Macross and Vandread and put them together, dont believe me, watch both animes and you'll see what im talking about...

Brilliant film, a nice tribute to films like Star Wars, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in The Sky, Princess Mononoke, Man Called Horse, Heavy Metal (Magazine and animated film), LightYears (aka Gandahar) and Dune. Who else thought Neytiri is the foxiest catgirl in animation?

Avatar plagiarizes Pocahontas. It's as if James Cameron just scribbled out the names of characters and places and replaced them with a sci-fi genre. It only was so amazing because of the technology it used, which was fascinating. But that's the only reason I liked it.

Yet another praise of Avatar...ugh. It was so unoriginal to me. Yes, the special effects was great, but the story line was generic, the acting mediocre. I just thought it was incredibly overrated.

Jeremy this review of Avatar is kinda uncharacteristic for you. While I get the 'format' of your short reviews, in this one you've ventured into evaluating aspects of this movie you normally don't - and turned out pretty shallow. I am not saying you should (or could) reach the awesomeness of Mr. Plinket's Avatar review, but if you stick to what you're best at - short review which tells me if I should bother watching a movie - you'll always have a faithful audience. Myself included.

I think the only good things about Avatar is the Superduperawesome epiphany of CGI and the awesome soundtracks, but that's it. My reasons are:
1º IT'S POCAHONTAS.
2º They are fighting over a tree *facepalm*.
3º You got a whole planet, can't you just move to another place?
4º *This one is a personal one* I think many of the machines reminds me of HALO.
5º I don't think the acting was good.
6º Total lack of humor in the movie.

@TheArases 1: many famous movies aren't entirely original. 2: The tree is sacred to them. Taking down that tree would be like the Navi 9/11. 3: The tree was the main point because it was the largest collection of unugdskjheatanium. 4: If it's personal, that can't really count as a legit reason. 5: You may be a bit right, but that's only in certain parts. Sam Worthington isn't exactly famous for showing emotion. 6: Star Wars didn't have that much comedy either. does that make it bad?

Good acting, GREAT graphics, decent story, 3D didn't do much, not bad as a whole but in NO WAY did it deserve to make 2.7 billion in the box office. It was all hype that got it as much, there are much better films out there compared to this. Overhyped and therefore made James Cameron a shitload of money on something that was okay.

Same here, he loved Avatar but he kinda overrated it, that's not a fair review. He should have mentioned things like unoriginal plot, you know, stuff like that.. @SlaveExplosion I tend to agree. It was so manipulative I was shocked - but I shouldn't have been. After all, I saw Titanic, which featured such cheap laughs and character development as, "Picasso... he'll never go anywhere." (see, you know he's a bad guy because he doesn't have the foresight to see that Picasso will be famous!) This movie had the same problem; the blue people were too perfect and the mining people were too evil. and the glowing stuff got corny.

Aliens was a good film, but the actors just made the shoddy script work, in Avatar, there's just no soul in this film at all. The actors were fine, but nothing can make up for a boring story and I literally burst out laughing when they said it was called "unobtainium".

I probably watched that movie about 7 times when it first came out. Pretty much agree with you, though there were some dialogue that was kinda lame. The story has been already done many times before yes but this movie managed to capture you in a different and deeper level, which made me happy.

@DaneLostMKD well when I saw this movie I was going into thinking that it was going suck but as it went I got interested with it and basically every movie from the late 1990's to this date has that "story has already been told ya jackass" syndrome and tweeks a little bit but I feel it worked for this movie and Inception (which is a good if not better version of Matrix)

Movie is good and i'm not gonna jump on the band wagon and say "I don't like it cos a lot of people like it" i'm just not like that. The CGI was great something most films lack when they use it. The story though unoriginal was done very well(and this story has been done many times just like a whole lot of others so stop your bitching)it's all about how you execute it. The acting was good. It is a good film and saying it is bad because it is popular is called being a douche.

I got three complaints: Its unoriginal (some examples are pochahuntus, dances with the wolves) its acting is not that great, its not even in my top 100 of all time so that is like a bad thing. people are saying this is the greatest film of all time. watch these which are 1 billion times as good. The Departed, the Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp fiction, Saving private Ryan, Goodfellas, the godfather. Please go see these films, they r so much better than avatar

Wait for a minute I thought you were being cynic... But you are serious? I mean, I saw Avatar too, and for the exception of the special effects, there was NOTHING spectacular or original about it. It's just like someone said, Pocahontas in space. The bad guy is extremely cliché (at least that provided me with a LOT of laughter), Jake Sully is just as ignorant and annoying as any shonen manga hero and his love story is highly predictable, just like the rest of the movie. I rolled my eyes a lot.
