goverment1102 ,Do we not train our military in this type of weather ,all year round,and those poor B*****ds have no choice in the matter,The DS (directing staff) dont give a flying F**k if your cold and wet and near to hypothermia,GET UP,GET UP ,MOVE MOVE MOVE..was all i remember ringing in my ears.
These people do it for fun so let them,they have the kit and the knowhow, so leave them to their sport.

Of course folk should be able to take part in fell-running, and pit their skills, knowledge and strength against others. It was well set up, with entry forms requiring past experience listed. Also, no-one could take part without essential equipment such as compass, food, stove, space blanket etc. I'm over 60 so enjoy hill-walking - out in the fresh air not surrounded by gadgets. Fell-running is safe - so are all sports. Accidents will happen: crossing a road can involve collision with a vehicle.
