Your modified katana has a serious flaw; although no zombies will be attacking your grip with swords, your hand would slide onto the blade were you to stab with it. When modifying a weapon, always consider the full intended purposes of the original state of that weapon.
kevlar is always a good option, and you are correct in being wary of human enemies. The one problem is the difficulty in obtaining kevlar as well as the high cost of it. This video was mainly intended to focus on easily obtained household items or homemade armour. Perhaps In another video i will go over some viable options for the most effective armour, not just the easily obtained.
Good video, but another thing to consider are live human opponents and not just zombies. I would probably wear a level 3A kevlar soft armor vest instead of a chainmail one to protect me from pistol and shotgun rounds, and I imagine that kevlar is probably really tough to chew through also. And I know someone is going to comment about it, kevlar body armor is actually completely legal to buy and own in most states in the United States, the trick is finding a seller that sells to civilians.
you have some awesome armour there but you mainly have hack and slash weapons just remember this the more curved the blade is the easier it is to decapitate a zombie or cut the top of its head to destroy the brain. great video though
@BLeSSeDoGkUSH420 I didn't show most of the weapons I had at the time, and I have gotten many more since. As for curved blades, yes they are good for decapitation, but where the weight is in the blade makes just as much of an impact. You must remember, curved blades can be limited in large groups, which is why double edged straight blades with the right weight and balance can be a strong option. Im glad you liked the video. I hope to do a new one soon with more of a weapons focus..
I like your shoulder armor concept , but to be effective it needs to cover the neck as well , the neck is the weakest point on our bodies and is the go to body part for the zeds. With all those layers on , even in cold weather you are going to overheat quickly , you need a camelbak type hydration pack , or zippered vents to release body heat when needed . YOU NEED A 12 GAGE !!!!! if you go Melee into a herd of walkers you're gonna get your ass handed to you .
i belive this is a good video to get some ideas about aromr for zombies it not to far fetach to belive zombies could real think about it rabies makes animals and people act like zombies but with people the rabies kills them what if it did not what if someone who had rabies could run around and start bitting other people that would be a zombie tybe situation even the CDC is preapering for a zombie out break
@ht448 First off kid, why would you be watching my video if you didn't have some interest in zombies? Second, when most people talk about zombies or a zombie apocalypse its because its a fun and interesting concept that has real-life survival applications. Its a topic most people relate to and enjoy discussing HYPOTHETICAL methods of being prepared. There are practical applications in most everything zombie related, such as the collapse of our wonderful economy. Its not just wasted effort.
I like this! I don't have much leather at all, but do you think a baseball catchers vest would be strong enough? I was thinking I could cut up some sheet metal and somehow attach it to the vest. And for shoulder pads maybe grab some rugby shoulder pads and cut up some tire and attach that to the shoulder pads, I am just brain storming here.
@Baloonsteak Im not extremely familiar with those materials off hand, but any protection is better than nothing. Sports equipment is usually pretty sturdy, you just want to make sure it doesnt inhibit your mobility. I have always thought highly of soccer shin guards and plastic armour of the like. It doesnt have to be crazy, it just has to last and keep you from being scratched and bitten. Heres a test: Bite it yourself, can you get through it?
you should do a vid of just a few weapons you would have in a zombie outbreak. cuz iv seen your vids and you have a lot of stuff haha. but you would only carry what you really thought would be useful cuz you dont wanna overload on stuff.
@234maniak Thats a pretty good idea. I didnt want to do that with this video because i dont think people touch on armour enough, but now that the groundwork is there i can move on. Ill work on that when i get some time. A personal display of what i would really use could help myself improve, as well as others.
dont forget... you better not be a fat ass if your gonna be wearing all that armour because it'll be heavy and you'll have to be able to run long distances without losing your breath or your dead
yo i got 3 rifles and im more of a sniper marksmen dude put i got a shitload of stuff your talking about btw leather is good because its hard to bite thru machete good knee pads shoulderpads gasmask p90 m24 fn fiveseven goalie pants uhhhh other stuff but i got an awesome turret in like idk where but i got lots of guns man in the way of helmets i got some diamond plate aluminum climbing spikes for climbing telephone poles uhhhh those wolverine claws or panther claws or sumthin so yeah im better
@mtndew12FLOZ Possession is only good if you know how to use it effectively. As for effective im fairly sure that i could do as much damage with a broken broomstick. I can see you are quite well prepared, nonetheless. Good luck!
@shridud Its actually not very heavy, i have worn it comfortably for a couple days straight and it didnt wear me out in the least. As for not being bitten in the chest, why take the chance? my arms would be protected anyway. And there are definitely different tactics to dealing with mobs than one wickedly armoured man.
@AndyFrogLee Haha, there is a lot i dont do, but most of it is what everyone else thinks is important. I beg to differ! As for riding horses though....i dont. i wish i did though. and the chainmaille has been finished! Im quite satisfied with it. Thanks for the comment.
i was kinda thinking this was gonna be some stupid vid i just waste my life watching but for some reason i found it funny and very practical if a zombie attack ( and i cant believe im saying this) might ever happen. good vid cool gear.
Ok. Well, I guess I'll just look around on TrueSwords for something light enough for me to handle, well made, and less expensive! That's not too much to ask, is it? ^_^
Chainmail's the best, man! :) Love this vid and how serious you are about it - 'cause this is no laughing matter. Can't beat a good pair of greaves, and definitely a fan of the machete. Gosh, now I want to start my own armory. Definitely asking for like a claymore or something for my birthday. Do you have the claymore in your weapon collection?
@EmpressSophie93 Sadly, I do not :( But i will someday. The closest i have is an Irish hand&1/2 sword. And a zombie appocalypse is definitely plausible. I doubt it will be the living dead, but a maddening virus like rabies for humans. There are so many ways this armour is applicable as well. At some point the world will go to crap and there will be widespread crime and looting, a little bit of armour might save your life.
@spinkicker37 That sword sounds really great, though! My older brother has a samurai sword and the Knight's Dress Sword from TrueSwords, but I'd like something a bit more readily wield-able, especially for a girl. Is there a certain one you'd recommend? Also, where do you get/find the majority of your weapons? I know you make some, but you must have a favorite place to get them.
@EmpressSophie93 As for a recommendation, if you are looking for price value the Viking sword is on Trueswords for $30, under "Viking Spirit Sword". You can find quality katanas on the site if you know what to look for as well. You always want full tang or the handle wont support the blade. You want Carbon steel, or high carbon. Stainless is too weak. If the sword mentions specifically that it is tempered, thats a good sign. There are a few other sites that you can find good swords, but...
@EmpressSophie93 ......prices will most likely be higher. It also depends on what type of sword you are looking for. Claymores tend to be harder to find in good quality, they tend to be stainless steel these days. There are a few companies you can generally find good quality blades from; Cold steel is one of them. As for katanas, Musashi usually makes a good blade. If there is something specific you are looking for, and within a certain price range , let me know and ill try to find a match.
@EmpressSophie93 TrueSwords is actually where i get the majority of my weapons, you just have to know what to look for. The site has some amazing deals if you can find them. The Irish hand&1/2 is simple but not made too sturdy, but the viking sword i show in the video is actually made surprisingly well for the price. It has a thick carbon steel blade and is full tang, and was only $30. Its actually better quality than the Irish.
My good sir:
Your modified katana has a serious flaw; although no zombies will be attacking your grip with swords, your hand would slide onto the blade were you to stab with it. When modifying a weapon, always consider the full intended purposes of the original state of that weapon.
Cheers!
