No Fiyero never died. He became the scarecrow. When Elphaba does her no good deed song she says a bunch of things like, " Let his bones never break, let him feel no pain: and "Let his blood leave no stain. So he was turned into a scarecrow. That is why they put him in the corn field. I think the note had like the secret of what they do in the finale. Elphaba is alive and so is Fiyero.

@loganhaithcock All of the melting screams are pre-recorded. And each Elphaba pre-records her own (so in this case, Teal has a scream, Julie has a scream, and whoever was the understduy, Courtney Corey? I think, had her own scream)
