@sephirothfromff7 It's in Elec Man's stage behind some blocks you throw with Guts Man's weapon. It's a blue cannon looking item.

@ddg91able This doesn't apply on the NES version. Like, if you play it on the cartridge or on a ROM file, the time between the pause and the unpause and the reaction of the buttons you pressed are too much delayed so, you can only attack it one shot at a time, and that makes it much more difficult. I know, I beat it that way... but I ain't no true old school gamer, cause I saved state everytime I got an hit on him, without taking too much damage myself. Shame on me. Hahaha...

the pause trick doesn work with my emulator, the game slowsdown when ever i use the elecman beam so when i try to pause it it doesn respond until the shot is out of the screen lol

Go back to Elec Man's stage and get the blue gun item that's behind some blocks you have to throw with Guts Man's weapon.

You'll have to complete Elec Man's stage again to save getting it.

If you do it correctly, every time you pause and unpause, it resets everyone's invulnerability. Elec Man's weapon is set to only hit anything once, but the pausing makes the game forget that it already hit the guy once, and does it again.

Nice. Cheep, but nice! I would only do the trick if I got extremely frustrated with the battle though. But I think that if you can dodge his moving parts then it's easy because that's all the battle is.

1. Dodge moving parts.

2. Shoot him in the eye once. (That's all it will let you do. =( )

3. Repeat until he's dead.

Easy but tedious.

when you get to Wily's stage, press 'Start' and you should see an M, click it, and you get the magnet.

I've cleared all stages but I still don't get the magnet beam :S

try this:

press the Start button as soon as you get to Wily's stage. you should see a list of letters, each stands for the boss you've beaten, like B for Bombman and so on and so forth.

you should see an 'M' for Magnet, click it, and try it out.

a blue meter (i think) should apear next to your life meter.

try it and let me know.

i was pretty dumb about the game myself.

i hardly play games, but when i was playing this one, i had a hard time because i beat the bosses, but i didn't know about this magnet beam.

You saw what I did to the giant yellow guy, right? You fire off Elec Man's weapon, and then pause and unpause the game rapidly. Every time you unpause it, the weapon will hit the guy again. It's a little trickier on the Anniversary Collection, but it still works.

It's not really his weakness; other weapons do as much damage. However, it's the right balance of doing a lot of damage and you being able to easily dodge his attacks.
