I'm impressed by the people who responded positively. Remember, a regulation prohibiting carry will not deter someone who plans on committing a massacre... All campus shooters are cowards so the possibility of a student with the ability to put them down is a deterrent 100 times better than a rule saying you can't carry your gun. Mass murderers generally don't obey laws anyhow.

Everyone who disagrees on the Right (Obligation) to Carry about Permit holders - are idiots. They are afraid of guns and don't know how to properly use a firearm.

People with Permits go through a Federal Background Check. They Deny more people than they Allow more people. It's a proven statistic.

I tell people, "Well...I can't carry a cop" is 100% effective in getting the point across.

imagine what would happen if students could carry their concealed gun on campus...VT would not have happened the way it did.  32 people is a horrible loss...if the gunman could have been neutralized at the very beginning...well 32 people could be alive today!

The thing is, the people responsible for the shootings commit them on a campus because there is less likely for someone to be there that can stop them, before they can carry out their plans. It's a lot of unarmed people, in one spot. The more chances there are of having someone that could intercept a violent offender before they could finish their spree, the better the chances are of limiting the damages they do. CCL holders have undergone federal background checks, and classes, to get them.

Its hard to agree with any one side. I personally have two pistols I switch carrying, and in a school setting with so many people I see wild gunfire exchanges high likely. Now the permit holder is more likely to for responsibly yes? But are they going to set a stance and fire like at a range or are they going to shoot blindly around a corner so they aren't exposing themselves to return fire? I thought I approved at first but now I just don't know...

Things to consider: Shooting at the range is nothing like shooting under fire. Student and faculty armed personnel may unintentionally harm others or cause more panic by sending more bullets flying. Also, many of these crimes (including the VA Tech massacre) are committed using legally obtained firearms, meaning these psychos managed to get permits. Lastly, more guns does not necessarily mean less crime. Japan is a good example. The truth is that all of this is more complicated than that.
