  • He has no balls to admit ss marriage is the right thing.

Yes, this issue will completely disappear just like John Edwards when he heads to prison.

  • I love how hilary is checking Barrack out at 3:38 she's probably thinking something like: "hmm I wouldn't mind a piece of that" LOL

  • John doesn't believe in heterosexual marriage, either.

  • John doesn't believe in equal rights but he can cheat on his wife and father a child with his mistress. Such a hypocrite.

  • Edwards don't think its right???? he just got caught cheating on his wife and fathered a baby and thats right???

  • I <3 obama! he took the words right outta my mouth!

  • CNN was trying to out Edwards.

  • Rev: he didn't answer my question, but he can suck my dick later.

  • another sanctity of marriage cheater... lol.

  • Oh no! A useless philanderer who fucks around behind his wife's back while she has cancer and has a bastard kid that he won't acknowledge publicly does NOT endorse gay marriage???!!! Whatever will we do without this honorable man's support?

  • amen.

  • longcrier = <3

  • politics shouldn't use religion to guide them to lead our country, but instead should use the constitution.

  • i complete agree. Which why the civil union is the solution. The state cant force religious groups to recognizance gay marriage.

  • Hmmm, is this Rev. Longcrier gay too? He needs to read the Bible if he's going to try and preach it.

  • Geez, Dreamer - an anti-gay democrat? I guess it's okay. I'm a gay pro-life non-Christian democrat. Even with the likes of me and you the Democratic party will be more cohesive than the GOP will this year. Thank God.

  • guardian22222 said: "Geez, Dreamer - an anti-gay democrat?"

I Never said I was anti-gay. I just think there are many more issues to resolve First. Feeding children is but just one...

  • I Never said I was anti-gay. I just think there are many more issues to resolve First. Feeding children is but just one...

Which is why I tend towards Obama and Edwards. If pro-gay was my #1 priority I'd vote for Kucinich or Gravel (are they even still in it?). So we can agree feeding children is a much higher priority than gay rights or 'protecting marriage'.

  • Kucinich just got out last night. Didn't know much about him anyway.

As far as Obama, I don't thng you want my opinion on him. Let's just say "I think" Edwards has more experience to "fit the job."

  • I really thought Edwards won the last two debates I saw. It doesn't seem to be translating into votes though. I just hope (if he doesn't get the nomination) that he ends up on the ticket as VP and takes office as Pres in 2017.

  • It's not a big thing. You make gay marriage a big thing. All you do is sign a paper somebody draws up. Easy. Feeding the hungry is different. This takes work and for that you're going to have to revise some ammendments in the consitution (which I'm not saying not to do) that protect these big corporate businesses that make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

  • Dreamer - why are you afraid to debate your religious beliefs? If they're true they'll stand up to questioning.

    OBAMA '08! (or Edwards)

  • This is not a "debating" area. It's a "comment" area. And, how can one debate "religion" when the other doesn't believe in God? Nuf' said.

  • I do believe in God. I just don't believe in yours - you know, the one that condoned slavery, the one that is the main reason it took so long for women to have the right to vote, the one who had Moses' army slaughter the Midanite children and give the virgins to the soldiers as a reward.

  • How can a candidate who does not support gay marriage rights possibly believe in a separation of church and state? Its one of the founding principles the USA was founded upon.Kucinich seems to be the only candidate with the guts to actually support the constitution. Civil Unions are not equal.

  • hehe you're joking right, the jarring is profoundly needed. "Don't ask don't tell" kicks gays out of the military if they are found to be heterosexual. If people were equal than anyone can join the military. It might not be a 'choice' but it feels like one. It was my 'choice' to be bi. I like both sexes their's certain things I like about both sex's that conflict with each others. It was my choice to tell people.

  • Why can't gays just live their personal life and stop jarring the U.S. to take on this issue? Don't they care about starving children, thousands of young men and women being killed overseas, people needing health care? I have no problem with the union of gay people, but why do they keep insisting on making this such a larger issue over the More Important issues going on in the country?

  • if you loved someone. and were told you cannot marry them. how would you feel?

  • I've been there, and yes, I was sad. But... it was someone of my opposite gender, not the same sex. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God. Simply stated.

  • Yeah too bad America was founded to get away from religeous persecution.

  • America was not Founded "to get away from religious persecution." American was Founded on the basis of Religion. "In God We Trust." Have you never heard or read this? Perhaps not... you're still so very young.

  • Check your history, dreamer, "In God we Trust" was put on the coinage in an overly religious period after the civil war in the 1800s. The country was certainly not founded on that slogan. "One Nation Under God" was added to the pledge in the 1950s. The pledge itself was written in the early 1900s without that phrase.

  • Check the Bible guardian22222. Homosexuality is an abomination to God.

  • So what? I don't believe that a God who drowned the pre-Noah children, firebombed the Sodom and Gomorrah children to death and has Moses' army slaughter the Midanite children, except for the virgins - who were rewarded to the soldiers Muslim-style. I don't think that could possibly be an Omnipotent God - it's unmerciful and not very creative for a 'Creator', i.e., I don't believe in your bible.

  • Is that the way you debate though? I disprove your assertion that this country was founded on Christianity (it was actually founded on freedom) and you confront me about what your religion says about my sexuality?

  • I know, why do christian people always say that? Do they know the little thing in the constitution called separation of church and state? Without it, we wouldn't have freedom of religion, and all of our laws would be religiously based.

  • i think that john has a point

gays can be strange but their real

i think he realizes that fact and i think he has a certain integrity to put his job before his beliefs

  • LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGE OR CIVIL UNIONS EVERYWHERE.

    HOMOSEXUALS ARE STILL PEOPLE.

GO OBAMA (and Edwards if he gets his head on right for it.)

  • i think edwards mostly has his heart in the right place. he grew up being tought that being gay is wrong and he is trying to fight that fact. but he knows that a presedent shouldnt impose their faith on fellow americans and the is the kind of presedent america needs.

  • Yes, well, I still am all for Obama because of this. He seems like he knows what he wants for this country and, to me, Edwards seems very shaky in his beliefs for the US. Just my opinion.

  • who gives a damn abut tyhe bible

  • acutally no you dont. some people are born gay.

  • thats an opinion....

  • The American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, the American Counseling Association, the National Association of Social Workers, the Council on Child and Adolescent Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics and even the health ministries in Russia and China say homosexuality is not a mental disorder, isn't a choice, can't be changed and trying to change it is harmful.

  • will ya i know its every persons right to be gay, strait , bi whatever im not aganst that or anything and i mean im postive its impossible to pray the gay away ect. ect.

  • Ok, so the dog comments aside. I think Obama nailed that one. Civil-unions how could someone be opposed? But marriage? Force a church to marry someone, or recognize a marriage is wrong as well.

  • Whoa... You may want to watch the defamation.

  • wow... nice excuse for homosexuality.. lets get a pastor who doesn't even know what the bible says let alone not care about it, and grant him a forum in a presidential debate... consider the source folks.

  • WOW, I can't believe Edwards if finally right on an issue!

  • What a silly media-driven non-issue for the sheeple. No one is using religion (at least in America) to supposedly "deny gays their rights". Homosexuals have more rights than normal citizens. It's good the Democrat party is pandering to a tiny subset of deviants as though it were an important issue.

  • i hope that your words come back to haunt you.

I hope that you are presented with the situation of having your rights denied, hopefully through a divorce settlement or something where youre legal rights are denied in the same way as homosexuals. Homosexuals are unfairly taxed, which is TREASON. I hope this all happens to you. thats the only way for your ignorant brain to understand

  • But no we are afraid! his too good to be true. At the same time we have been tricked into thinking that good things won't come without a heavy price, " don't believe that" so we are doomed. Or maybe doomed is how most of us have been, and here is a chance to bring it all to an end. But it won't happen, we won't do it somehow we have this fear to change our way of life, the way things have been all this years, we just won't sacrifice. vote obama.

  • Animal-human marriage would not be an issue concerning legalization. The point of legalization is to give gays rights to property after their partner dies, allowing them to be recognized as a legal partner, etc. No one in their right mind is going to leave property to a dog. I suggest that you remember that gays are humans, first and foremost, just like heterosexuals. They deserve the same rights as any other human, not the same rights as dogs.

  • I fully support PETA and as long as the male dog is willing, its not cruelty, It is very pleasurable for the dog, and myself as well. In 50 years it will be legal and we will all look back on this like the days when blacks couldnt make love to whites!

  • Can your dog sign a marrige license? Two consenting adults of legal age. You have the same logic as those that said "If we allow the blacks to marry whites....." You are an idiot. I hope you have gay children. Flameing gay boys would be nice for you.

  • Sorry, I dont understand your homosexual terminology. I hope I have gay children too!

    "happy and carefree"

  • I didn't know there was such a thing since I am not a homosexual. I know some though and they are fine decent people.

I will type slowly for you then.

Only humans over 18. Any questions?

  • black, white, red, green, furry, scaled, blue eyes, green eyes, brown hair, it's all meaningless and straight/gay is a caracteristic like all of the above. to think differently is to live in a vaccuum. come out of your caves, please.

  • It is a foolish question based on several incorrect premises. First, race and gender are totally difference than sexual preference. Second, marriage has never been define by sexual preference.

  • The pastor is wrong on several counts. One, homosexuality is not the same as sex or race. Two, marriage is not now, nor has it ever been defined by religion. Three, marriage has never been defined by sexual preference, but by human biology.

  • My you pop up every where....a marriage is a religous ceremony..duh...and biology can and does extend to sexual orientation so your premise is either incorrect or for gay marriage.

  • No, sexual orientation is a myth. It is manufactured excuse for perversion, and nothing more.

  • How do you know?

  • The type Sen. Obama is referring to -- the religious marriage -- IS NOT what being asked for here. So I would put it to Sen. Obama -- what, in practical terms, would be the difference between a 'civil marriage' and a 'civil union'? And, if there is no difference other than the name -- then why have two different lines/forms/institutions? And, if there IS a difference -- what services/rights/privleges would the government be withholding from those couples in 'civil unions'?

  • Rev. Longcrier was asked after the debate was over if he was satisfied with the answer, and he said he was after Edwards clarified with the second part of his response. It would've been easy for Edwards to pander there (he is running the left-most campaign of the big three, after all), but he was honest, while vowing to not let his own personal beliefs interfere with his policy on the issue. And what more can we ask?

  • By Obama's logic interracial marriages would have been separate but equal with civil unions. Because this is not true is why it is a basic right to have gay marriage and not just civil unions. Kucinich and Gravel are the ONLY candidates proposing this. Vote for policy or else nothing changes!

  • This whole topic is completely ridiculous at this stage. No one is more equal than anyone else, and the bottom line is tha same-sex couples do not receive equal treatment, rights and privileges. Get up to speed with much of the rest of the developed world, call a spade a spade and just legalize same sex marriage. Religious beliefs and personal problems regarding homosexuality have no place in goverment.

  • Im sorry but Obamma, that is seperate but equal.

America has tried that before and is fails.

  • I don't get why they just won't legalize gay marriage. Who is it harming? Nobody! :(

  • Your right TexasRel, it shouldn't even be an issue.

  • Shouldn't they be completely about giving the people what they want? Cause they're not doing that if they're gonna keep a ban on gay marriage.

  • Great question by the Reverend. As well as Anderson Cooper comparing interracial marraige to gay marraige. It does seem that there's finally a concensus of opinion on the need for civil unions for gay Americans, which is a move forward,... but gay marraige seems less hopeful. :(
