It's simple. While the camera focuses on the boy holding the ball, the turtle, the dog, the sister and the mom cuts down the post with the other numbers. Maybe using an axe or a saw. Then they all pull down the post carefully so it will be level with the boy so that he'll shoot the ball into the hoop. Thus creating the illusion that the father was really tall.:D
By the way the Dad stretches his son upwards, it also acts as a signal that the other family members must take out pieces one by one and pull the post downwards. I think that's the job of the turtle. The dog's probably doing all the sawing. The sister and the mom was probably holding the post.;)

Damn Varrockcians are so short people....many Varrockcian teenagers are around 125-140 cm! Adults usually are 130-165 cm!
Thesaalia from Varrock is only 135 cm
The male shop keepers are 158 cm
The 11 year old children in Varrock are usually around 117-123 cm!

Simple. The dad's 6 ft, the boy's 3 ft, and the boy's arms are probably an extra foot. :)
