Love Genie Francis and Laura (her alter ego), and have since she married Luke when I was in school!! She really deserved this award!! It was because of her I actually cut classes in engineering school ....had to keep up on things.
I think they should have found a recast for Laura as soon as Genie started to get overwhelmed in 1981. I'm sure Genie would be more anxious to grace us with her presence more often if the Luke and Laura/Cassidine storyline wasn't dependant on her being there
genie francis is a good actress, i liked her on north and south , where she played brett main ,she played along side the best of actors, including the late patrick swayze, who was great. but i also liked her as laura on general hospital.

I remember watching the emmys boy I think I started crying the moment they announced she won. WOW what an incredible moment. They really should bring her back on as a main character again. She's the heart of the show!!!
I am still SO THRILLED that Genie won...she was better during her 3 weeks than anyone else the entire year...the fact that it took her 31 years to win an Emmy is the height of ridiculousness
