Politics aside... West Virginia is really one of the most beautiful places I have seen within The United States (other than Colorado). They met in Washington DC at a club called the Cellar Door. After the gig they went back to Bill and Taffy's apartment and wrote "Take Me Home, Country Roads". It made John Denver a major star in the USA.
