  • @AdamNoAnts i know and i agree! they never play it live! :( possibly because kristin, the violist is gone and this song "has a lot of violin"

  • I'd bite off my big toe to see this live

  • zach forgot the lyrics to the last 2 verses or something :D?

  • i think this is way better than the album version.

  • Well the first song is just a shor intro so yea I suppose 3rd is right

  • this is the 4th song asshole, and a different version, good thanks

  • *That* was awesome!

  • I can't even. The brass sound in this video is unreal, it's so full and gorgeous.

  • I love Beirut I love Beirut I lOVE BEIRUT!

  • @TheKatp04 I have been wondering the same! It´s one of their best songs and I cant find the live version anywhere... :(

  • ugh! i can't get over the fact they misspelled the name!

  • mmm me encanta esta cancion es guaymas

  • 8 people are hitting the dislike button hoping that people like me try and write some pretentiously funny/clever remark.

  • My dad likes to play accordion. I grew up hating the sound of it. But now Beirut makes me love it

  • Excepcional la música que vuela entre la vida, corriendo entre el equilibrio y la perfección IT’S WONDERFUL

  • Heeyy ! Have you ever been in a place called GUAYMAS SONORA Mexico, jaja

  • beirut rules

  • I'm a huge death metal and grindcore fan. The first time I heard Beirut, it was the song Carousels, and from then on I went out and bought every album. Beirut gave me a whole new outlook on life. Thank you Beirut, your music cured my depression.

  • Anyone else hear the Yann Tiersen inspiration in this? Fucking beautiful. Makes me want to cry.

  • @funnyguitarplayer As a matter of fact it is on Jacques Brel's inspiration, as Zach Condon has said, he, the Grand Jacques is the common inspiration to both Beirut and Yann Tiersen -- I love him TOO :)

  • I don't think musical talent so pure exists like this anymore these days. I love Beirut with my whole heart<3

  • maybe this is what love sounds like

  • @Judas130 I love that comment sooooooooooooooooooooo much.

  • @Judas130

for me, it is what love sounds like :)

  • @Judas130

I love and I am loved.

    It does.

  • They are so great!

    I love it!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • they are amazing and i hope they will not stop what they do

    keep it up!

  • Trop bon ! :)

  • hold the phone...

WHICH 8 PEOPLE DISLIKE THIS SONG???

    how could you possibly?

  • Does anyone know where I can buy/download this song in this version? The version of the cd is so different...

    PLEASE!

  • @tarsila57 audio rip

  • they are my Day band... (good day, bad day, long day....) every day

  • Words cannot explain how beautiful and amazing this song is. The cullmination of feelings and emotions I get from this song are uncomparable to any other song I have ever heard, (except almost every other Beirut song :) Thank you Zach Condon for being AMAZING!

  • what is that instrument called that he's playing??

  • @FieryFeonix

    I think it is a flugelhorn =)

  • @FieryFeonix It's a Flugelhorn with rotary valves. So it's played sideways. The valves are like a french horn's instead of like a trumpet's.

  • yes the rave interlude the best part the lights go out and back in

  • This is epic

  • They're insanely awesome, just music. Pure music.

  • This song just added a kick more to my love for Beirut. And I am also a proud Sonoriense:)

ha, Sonora... I am a Sonoriense:)

  • Congrats, thanx for mentioning GUAYMAS SONORA i am a proud Sonorense.

There is a band in Tijuana called La Ballena de JONAS that sounds sort of like BEIRUT.

    PEACE !!!!!!

    Ricardo Amaya.

  • sounds like a song that should be in a pirates of the carriban movie or at least a johny depp movie

  • @WildCard761 It wouldn't be unusual because I know that Johnny Depp is a fan of Gypsy music and he's friends with Taraf De Haiduks, so one could assume that he probably would like Beirut, considering their influences.

  • I love this song!It makes me wanna start dancing.

  • 7 dislikes? funny.

  • the riff from that horn at 1:08 penetrates deeply

  • I swore I'd never want kids but , the visage at 1:04 makes me want to change my mind. He's truly one of a kind. <3

  • fucking incredible

  • why the name guaymas sonora

  • @zaporay its a small town in the northern state of Sonora, Mexico, but...theres nothing there i mean its a very small town, wierd huh?

  • at 2:26 I'm filled with the holy spirit and start speaking in tongues. haha.

  • This is the band that I'd LOVE TO BE IN. :D Very creative videos.

  • @aolser10 Is that a surreally tangential comment, or just spam?

  • I love how well the brass collide with one another and harmonize. The violinist is great too!

  • What a talented group these guys are. They all seem to know their parts...definately experienced musicians. I can see them keeping up the beat. Love it!

  • beirut's violinist is phenomenal

  • @sarahgateaux Yesss, I agree! Beirut's main violinist is Owen Pallett who heads the now self-named band 'Final Fantasy'. He also plays for Arcade Fire. Not sure if you've heard of him or not but if you're also familiar with Joanna Newsom, you'll be most likely to love his cover of 'Peach Plum Pear'.

  • I'm in love with their sound :D :D <3 <3 <3

  • The seven people who downvoted this ought to have the Justin Beaver beaten out of them.

  • French horn, but a special model, I'd say. Look at his wrist when you get a chance.

  • I would like to surround myself with people like these people.

  • @AsleepAndDreaming Same here...Same here.

  • In the hall I heard your faints falling,

your trial and my corrections made.

  • If I had to guess, I'd say its a flugel horn he plays, but I'm not entirely sure. Functionally they're the same, if you can play trumpet you can play flugel. As far as if brass instruments are hard to play? They're easier to start than some instruments, but hard to master. If you care to learn, I'd really suggest taking formal lessons though at least in the beginning, its very easy to develop 'bad' habits in that will hold you back later as you progress if you don't have someone advising.

  • @Wingman4508 its a rotary flugel horn

  • desde argentina.. BEIRUT lo mas grandioso!!!!!!

  • his accordion has SO MANY BUTTONS. It's quite awesome. I'm jealous.

  • what kind of trumpet does zach plays?

  • @152tbs possibly he plays a flugel horn. They look similar to trumpets but are slightly bigger and have a warmer sound.

  • @bleachfreek do you know if they are difficult to play?? I REEEAAAAALLY WANT TO PLAY BRASS INSTRUMENTS!!! <3

  • It's cool because, if you ever think, as a kid "I want to be a musician" or "I want to be in a band" you kind of immediately limit your instruments to guitar, drums, bass, maybe some keys. But not these guys. It's cool, I'm happy for them because people who play the trumpet in their high school band don't really think of doing something like this in the future would be possible. I bet they never thought they'd end up here. It's cool. I need to listen to more Beirut. I only know like two songs.

  • I love this song to death! You guys need to drop us the lyrics. . . it's so indecipherable, which, as you will have it though, is kinda what makes it awesome lol

  • Nossa, confesso que tenho o mesmo sonho que uma das pessoas aí de cima.. deve ser muito perfeito fazer parte dessa banda, é incrivel como me emociono cada vez que escuto/vejo os clipes #)

  • Mandolin??! I thought it was an ukulele...

    i love the mandolin...

  • It looks like a mandolin to me.

  • i live 2 hrs away from Guaymas... a beautiful place!!

  • I don't know why, but all of a sudden my dream is to play in a band like this. It's so beautiful, it really moves me.

  • @XguitarrockerX me too

  • @XguitarrockerX

    Look at his username.

Isn't it funny how just a band can change a person like that lol? BEIRUT=GODS

  • @Clerks0 Haha Win Comment

  • @XguitarrockerX wanna start one together? :D they're amazing..

  • such an amazing band :)

  • No I was not there on the church stairs. The wind in my hair, a flood through my tear.

  • i bet the neighbors are pissed

  • I thought it was "I fled through night's air." Could well be wrong though.

  • wonderfull

  • There´s no band like Beirut these days. They are so amazing. :)

  • Check out Fanfarlo. They are pretty similar.

  • I´ll definitely check them out now that you said. Thanks :)

  • Fanfarlo are plagiarizers: of Beirut, Okkervil River, and Arcade Fire, in my opinion. Brit-pop is dead, and now everyone's copying North American indie bands.

  • @s2Juh I so totally agree!!!! :D

  • @s2Juh i don't think there ever WAS a band like Beirut. :)

  • absolutely fantastic

  • BRAVO!

  • it should be guaymas sonofa by the way...

  • <3 this band. They r freakin' me out. Oh God..

  • this is so very beautiful that it makes me sick.

  • what does guyamas sonora mean?

  • its a coast town in Mexico

  • Comment removed

  • He's using a flugelhorn.

  • transporting

  • It's called a Bügel (in German). A Flügel is a grand-piano

  • i believe it's called a "flugelhorn" (which means, "wing-horn" in German). I've seen them used in marching bands quite a lot. Such a cool song. Such a cool band. Such a cool horn!!!

  • u mean flügel not flugel :D

I agree, they are amazing (:

  • what horn is the singer using, i want to try it out i love the sound

  • that is some fantastic brass

  • If I heard Beirut's music 30 years ago, or 20 or 10, it would sound like it belonged. It really is timeless, beautiful and frankly just different from anything out there; and I salute them for that.

  • nothing could make me love these guys more. i adore this song

  • Epic band

  • this is my favorite song from the album.

  • This is one of my favourite songs by Beirut. I absolutely love these videos that are made, with the band playing it live. It's so fantastic, showing that each person has their own talent at an instrument and when combined in a group it sounds simply beautiful, amazing, and extremely brilliant.

Beirut remains to be one of my ultimate favourite bands due to the creativity of the music. And the voice of the singer.

    I absolutely admire this band.
