Actually as far as I have read belly dancing did not originate from Arabia(Middle East) in the Middle east it is called "Eastern Dance" so it must've originate from the East, somewhere near India I believe. It was spread by either Gypsy(Roma) people or some other nation from the East of Asia, and reached the Middle East later. So it is not a dance that belongs to the Middle East(Arabia) per say.
