@1993jordanbrown Geez, back off. The fact that he's even an understudy is impressive. You know how hard it is to find work on Broadway? This is such an emotionally draining show, so to be even an understudy for Next to Normal is impressive. How about you try doing that role? You have no right to say something like that. I saw him on Broadway last month when Brian d'Arcy James was gone and he was good. So don't say anything when you don't even know what you're talking about.
he was dan at the 3/27/10 performance. i was a bit disappointed before the show when the playbill said bobby wasn't performing, but he was pretty good. there's things i liked with him, but i just wish bobby was performing the day i saw n2n.
He played Dan at the 2/26/10 performance this weekend. Was amazing in person; I prefer him to the clips of JRS. Berry seems more believable as a slightly worn-down husband who starts off somewhat uninspiring and boring and really develops a character over the course of the show.
haha i thought the same thing when i saw him back in december...but i actually thought the fact he sounds like a country singer made the song better. idk why...
i was dissapointed when i saw bobby spencer wouldn't be dan when i saw n2n...but michael was very good! i actually wouldn't mind seeing him again as dan. and yeah...gabe is needed in this song and it is crappy quality....michael is a very good dan!
I wasn't disappointed..put it that way. I thought of it...like...would this be the man she'd really marry? I answered yes...I could see her being attracted to him..so it all worked out.
I saw him do Act II only (poor Bobby was so sick. He had to leave after Act I) and I really wish I could've seen Michael do this live. He's grown into the character SO much since this performance. It's really remarkable.
i'd cry too. He's one of the big reasons i'm going to see it. since aaron isn't in it at the moment, but even if all the understudies were on, i would love every minute of it because its IS an original musical, and it has amazing music.
Hm... I kind of agree, but I respect his interpretation all the same. Perhaps this simply wasn't the prime example of his talent. :/
But anyway, I actually have a cover of this song on my channel... if anyone and everyone could comment and criticize, I would greatly appreciate the friendly advice! :)
I'm trying to like him, but he's no J Robert Spencer... if i saw him instead any time i think i'd be heart broken. Then again, what made JRS's performance for me was "I am the one reprise" which absolutely broke by heart. So i'd have to see
I saw him the night I saw N2N and he broke my heart the entire show. Especially during the "I Am the One" reprise. His voice is so gorgeous, but you can't tell in this cause the music is overpowering it.
Better than Bobby, but not as good as Brian. My 2 cents.

I saw him in April with Jessica and they were both amazing!

I was disapointed at first when I read in my Playbill that he was on for that night's performance instead of JRS. But he really did an excellent job

I hate when people change the melody of this song. It pisses me off.

Well he is no JRS but he's still brilliant! He deserves some credit for taking on the role, especially since Bobby's footsteps are hard to follow in.

Is he Bobby? No. Is he amazing? Yes.

this recording of it isn't great. he really is amazing on stage. i'd say more real than Bobby.

He and Bobby approach it differently, really.
The song is definitely not the same without Gabe's part, though.

it almost sounds like he has a country twang in this song. that kinda bothers me. but he has a nice voice

eh.
However, I may be biased because I just love Bobby.

I absolutely love his voice.
But...
I'd cry if I didn't see Bobby. D:
And why is he so scruffy? :|
