So what format do video files have to be to be able to play on this? I'm guessing (sadly) it doesn't do .mp4. Because I loaded some of those on there, since that's most of my video library.

Have they released a firmware update for this thing? I have the 4Gb version, every now and then it locks up and I have to reset it. Besides that it's great, love the expandable memory via SD.

#1 There is a black line that runs through the center of the screen, WTF is hat about

#2 For some reason after like 10 or so minutes, it freezes, any help on that? The mp3 is an insignia 4g pilot.

First of thanks for watching the video even after youtube decided to fuck up the audio.

Next your screen is just broke thats all there is too it. A dead pixel or something. there should be no black line. Furthermore if that screen is fucked I would say its been dropped or someshit and thats why #2 is a problem.

please help my insignia piloti will not load any music wat so ever, i used to have half the memory full in music, but when i switched my computer from a pc to mac, i tryed putting in 2 songs and a video. after i synced it, it loaded and at the end of the load, it said, INSIGNIA DATABASE FULL DELETE CONTENT OR REFORMAT so i did delete like half my songs, than i did it again and this time it said Loading library, so i waited 4 like 10 min then same message apeared please help me.

I got one of these, but if I want it to play my entire library of music but starting with a specific artist, album or genre, how do I make it do that, is there a trick? Because I go to where I want it to start playing and all it does is play the entire library from the very 1st song.

Simple. You press the menu button, then navigate over to the music library, press the center of the wheel, nowpress to the right to list by artist, album,track, genre, playlists, etc.

Hello, 1 question, in my device I always rate my songs, but if I set the playback to RANDOM songs everytime I press next or previous, than my ratings reset to "unrated".

Does this happen to you when your playback settings are random/shuffle?

Someone mentioned that I should show all how to do the voice recordering. I will look into that. As for the wmv, you have to run all the videos through that arcsoft media convertor that comes with the player. It has to be the right frame rate to play on it.

Pretty good just got it today and in my opinion its better than the Ipod and cheaper but the thing with mine is when I try to put videos it says error cant open and wrong type/format but I read that it reads WMV and mp4 and that what I put on it but same problem but could just be mine so go ahead and get it!

Yes its has playlist function but I have not figure out how to use it. I use winamp to make and name my playlist and then drag and drop as with all things on this player, just drag and drop.

I have not updated the firmware and care not too. Sometimes this breaks things. I cant be without my player. Why fix what aint broke? Sound quality its great, even comes with a 5 band eq so you can shape your tunes. YEs I bought the 8 gig and added a 8 gig sd card for a now total of 16gb

Great info. This mp3 player can do alot with just little price. The only thing that upset me is that the player does not have a built in playlist. I don't want to drag and drop the playist from winamp and into the mp3.. It's too complicated. I just want a simple way where you can create how much playlist you want with ease. All of muy mp3s have the album art embeded using Album Cover Art Downloader, its free google it. Also in each folder there is a folder.jpg with the album art. Hope that helps

My question is, does the pilot have Portrait view as opposed to Landscape? Like can you look at the screen from the side, like with the scroll wheel at the bottom? (like on that piece of crap known as the ipod?)

Yes it does not have a mic embeded so you would need to use the line in on it to record voice with a mic. It has two headphone jacks, so 2 people can listen to the same content at the same time. The 2 jacks are also a linein for recording and a tv out. With a 1/8 male to male the possibilities are limitless.

In my situation I have ran all my mp3's through a free program on the net that you can download called Album Cover Art Downloader. It gets a folder.jpg and you can embed the art in the mp3.

hey, i bought mine today!! but while reading the papers that come with it says that this device is specially optimized to work with the Best Buy Digital Music Store, and this sounds to me like ipod with itunes, and i really dont want that, i am planning to download music from walmart, or other sources, and i dont want to be limited to best buy, so , what do i do?

What you do is insert the green cd and only install the Arcsoft media converter software for videos, thats all you need to do. Next on your Insignia under settings/usb mode/ change it to connection type File & Folder and it will be like a usb stick and you can drag and drop files easily to the device. The Best Buy Digital Music Store is utter trash.

I just toyed with the best buy digital music store software and its their attempt to be like apple with itunes. I found it useless to me and uninstalled it.

Its rhapsody/realplayer crap which I do not like on my system.

I love this player as it acts like a usb stick and you can put files whereever you want on it.

Does this player require you to use the Arcsoft software? I have tried to move converted files to the player but they don't seem to play. Get unsupported file message. Can you create/convert files outside of the Arcsoft software and move them to the player?

I drag and drop mp3's no problem, when it comes to videos they HAVE to be at 30fps and most are not, so the arcsoft is needed to convert them over to that.

Google for Atube Downloader and you can download any youtube video, then run it through your arcsoft media convertor

You can record them live with a media center pc and convert, get them off itunes and convert, or get them via torrents on the web.
