Yeah he like, merged with some demon so he could have a beard and fight the other demons, but it's a bad influence on him or something. Also he doesn't rip her in half, he eats her in half, which is awesome. I just wish he ate 'ol acid tits afterward instead of getting distracted.

The red guy isn't Devilman or Akira, he's Amon. He's the demon Akira merged with and he broke free from Akira's body.

To fully understand what's going on you should watch the earlier Devilman movies, The Birth and Attack of the demon bird (I'm not sure about the titles but they're something like that, I believe) Of course if you've already watched them just forget what I said but if you haven't you should atleast watch the first one it's really good and it explains alot!
