Hey man, I dug the video. I am a long distance rider as well. I have never done a century ride though. Perhaps if you are ever in San Diego or if I am ever where you are, we could ride together.
@madogblue They weren't KH spokes! Yeah, UDC had built the wheel (Unbeknown to me!) using after market not-so-stainless silver spokes. When I told Kris about the breakage issue, and that for some reason I was shipped a new 36er with those crap spokes, he shipped me a new set of HIS correct spokes. Since rebuilding with them, it's been perfect!
Nice footage, I knew you could do it! In your unicycles did you purchase the standard isis hub or did you pay the extra $285 for the titanium/carbon one. I'm trying to figure out if i should spend the extra money or not because if its not going to make much of a difference or isn't necessary, I'd rather save $285. What do you think?
@AdamMoto Thanks and hello Adam. I have a standard kh isis hub, and actually prefer it over the current titanium version, which still has those "kh" cout outs in the flanges, which I feel weaken the flanges and make them more prone to failure. Save the $285 and get either the kh or nimbus isis hub.
Dang, I wish I would have known your route beforehand. It looks like you passed right by where I work while I was working there. It's an asphalt plant on lincoln that is literally right next to the Santa Ana river trail and there's only a chain link fence seperating our parking lot from the bike path.
@thecrazyjoe I went about 20 miles in on SART from the start at PCH. I also found out that it's waaaay longer than I ever knew, and that if I'd known, I could've done the entire century on it, but probably out & back. But I like my route for more variety. As soon as I get a new set of *better* spokes, I'm doing another uni-cent!
@Aradern Hi thanks. I was riding my KH ungeared 36er with 110mm cranks and touring handle. No brake. Nightrider tire. Pretty basic, but was all I needed. :)
I´m your fan since a long time ago (more than 2 years) .
I hope that you recover from this very fast. It was the first time that I saw you a little bit tired! I did 65 miles on my 36" and from my 48 years I know what that mean.
You are incredible and a source of inspiration for people like me.
@dustied Thanks. Yeah I wanted to have plenty of time and daylight, in case of unforeseen problems. Luckily, I finished with still 4 hours of daylight left!
@sneakybeaver13V2 Haha, I sure would! I might do the STP, Seattle to Portland, but it would take a good 2 days to complete. Would be quite a thrilling adventure I'm sure!
i am amazed on how you continue to push the boundries of what people can do on a unicycle, terry-man or machine? I think a little of both! awsome video!
Nice video! You are a good unicyclist.... Just stop giving the peace sign in every shot, But good job

Do you attribute anything specifically to the broken spokes? KH is a very high quality Uni and I was surprized to see broken spokes.

How do you deal with the different gearing requirements? Did you have only one speed and one set of cranks? CONGRATS!
madogblue 1 year ago
@madogblue Yeah, one speed 1:1. The cranks are dual hole so I can make them 110 or 125 by simply switching the pedal position.
ttt8699 1 year ago
@madogblue What crank length do you use for Muni on your 36"? thanks~!
