I'm guessing him standing up and dwarfing the two 'scruffy' charity seekers is part of the sketch. Stephen Fry is tall but he's not that tall! You can't see Midge Ure's feet either.

The odd thing is that while Ure is around 5'6" or so, Geldof is supposedly 6'2"? And he's still dwarfed by Fry, was the stage slanted or something? No doubt Stephen's the tallest one there but he shouldn't be that much huger than Geldof.
