  • the truth is that the preachers that are just shitting everyone for money or to touch the choir boy or so he can fuck everyone is way less worst than the preacher that is out to save your soul from hell and never does anything that can be construed as wrong - for instance jimmy swaggett is way better than billy graham but I rather spend 1000 days in a prison cell with Jeffery dalmer than shake hands with even one of their distant relatives...God is gay, I like him, but pussy is what matters

  • this should be enough to crumble the hold the church has over peoples lives but sadly people wana be lead and told what to do gladly some dont guys like bo and his bros they knew the truth

  • Theres one of them pimps I mean pastors in every town. God told me to tell you to send me your money. And hot chix.

  • fucking genial

  • the one person no sorry muppet that dislikes this is a dog fucker

  • Great song! Love the musicians and love the words. Being a 'preachers kid' I couldn't agree more with the lyrics. Great posting.

  • hey metaldealer64, if you watch the Sam chatmon interview he says that Memphis slim was his sister's boy. Sam was one of the Sheiks.

  • mando3b

thats not entierly correct as the more popular songs such were sam chatmon tracks also im sure as shit that thats sams voice and the guitar style is more sam than any of his brothers style

  • memphis slim was his cousin ( younger ) i belive and also charlie patton umong other ledgends that were connected to the chatmons/chatmans / carters

  • memphis slim was his cousin ( younger ) i belive

  • So, come along and see,

    The Mississippi Sheiks.

    Rory

  • @a8anasios666 Do you mean Rory Gallagher? He's great!

  • @roryschannelno1 Oh yeah :) search that song of his on youtube

  • @roryschannelno1 Gallagher is a wanker ....who want's to be black....guitar? please.....come one....what a shit.....

  • @16catire ...?

  • Mississippi Sheiks sas agapaw!!!

  • Wonderful song, wonderful sound. Which man in picture is Sam Chatman? Does anyone know?

  • @TamarZucker Sam Chatmon isn't in this picture: it is (L-R) Bo (Chatmon) Carter, Lonnie Chatmon, & Walter Vincent; L (fiddle) & V (guitar, vocal) were the basic unit that recorded under the name "Mississippi Sheiks"; Bo had a good solo career, but recorded occasionally with L & V, sometimes getting separate billing. In person, the "Sheiks" were these guys, plus a "cast of thousands"--mostly other Chatmons, incl. Sam. (Apparently, Sam liked to inflate his own contributions later in life, though.)

  • Love it!

  • this is so ahead of its time.

im a big fan of blues history, but ive never heard this

    impressive

  • ha! awesome. love it.

  • Thank you, askinovic, for posting this.

  • He sounds so much like Memphis Slim

  • agree! =)

  • @metaldealer64 Memphis Slim was called John Chatmon - the Mississippi Sheiks most likely were his uncles

  • Are there other blues acts of this era who used a fiddle player? I like this mood

  • There's a compilation on Amazon called "Violin Sing the Blues for Me" that you'd probably find something you like on.

  • @keltyk Patton on Farrell blues, Devil sent the rain blues, Elder Greene blues. etc.. with Henry Simms.

  • Wow!!!! real!!! but also funny

  • timeless. say it brother

  • Yeah, the lyrics are so completely straightforward.

Dangerous words back in those days and a lot of guts to sing this .

People have NO understanding of this sort of thing now.

  • @sisterdiggins

Look at the child molestation scandals by catholic priests in the US, Ireland, Germany etc. I think people do have an understanding of this today. And I think nothing at all changed since the Mississippi Sheiks recorded this back in 1931

  • Trust me , I know. It has been going on forever . This kind of thing has only been openly acknowledged in the last 25 or so years , and no nothing has changed really ,sadly.

  • real shit.

  • Beautiful.

  • The lyrics are so simple and straight to the point. No messing about...I like it

  • 100%

  • Finally, truth in music.

  • the shieks are the real deal!!!

  • fuckin ballsy haha

  • "He calls that religion but I know he'll go to HELL when he dies..."
